FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK.  My precious Loki   I really really really hope he isn't permanently dead; he has definitely been through enough major injuries that he shouldn't die from a simple broken neck.  Heimdahl was a given and I already knew Gamora was going to die and it would have something to do with the soul stone.  

Not enough Okoye or Shuri.  Okoye is a total badass and seeing her in pain at the end is just heartbreaking.  

Where is Valkyrie???  I know there has been talk about Tessa Thompson in future movies so unless they are going to take place prior to Thor: Ragnarok she has to have escaped death.  

Banner and Hulk were hysterical!  Poor Hulk was having some performance issues.

RABBIT RABBIT RABBIT!  Poor Rocket.  

I'm still processing everything and I know I have to go see it again because I missed a lot of stuff when people were laughing.  

But fuck.....LOKI....I knew it was coming but I am still heartbroken.

The looks on the faces of Thor, Captain America, Tony, Okoye. Like, we fought as hard as we could and we still lost. Superheroes are supposed to win! I can't take evil triumphing right now!

Well, shit.  I don't know if my kids (or I, for that matter), will be able to handle all of that. 

But I agree that we know there is a Black Panther 2, so T'Challah must come back somehow.  There's a part two that will come out in 2019, right?

I just got back and have some thoughts.

So, Dr. Strange saw only one path to victory, and then proceeded to hand over the stone. He had no emotional reason to do it, so his excuse about saving Tony must have been just that, i.e. this is still how they're going to win in the end. My money is on some kind of time travel shenanigans, similar to what Thanos did to Vision after Wanda destroyed the stone.

The biggest clue that most (or all) of the deaths are going to be retconned, though, is that they "killed off" characters who still have movies coming up. Black Panther and Spider Man in particular *can't* die for this reason alone. Now, Vision, Gammora, and Heimdahl are probably really gone for good because they died before the main event. Loki's always a wild card because Loki. I'm still betting that either Tony Stark or Steve Rogers is going to die (for real) in Part II if only because I don't think that either actor is under contract for more stand-alone movies.

ETA: Or I could have just referred everyone to the article linked above which lays out all of these theories in much more detail.

So Groot v.1 dies in GoTG.  The Groot we see in GoTG v.2 is basically the son of Groot v.1.  In A:IW Groot v.2 grows his arm and chops it off to become the handle for Stormbreaker.  When Thanos wipes out half of humanity, Stormbreaker's handle is still intact.  It is part of Groot v.2 so, in theory, they could break off a piece and grow Groot v.3 who would be the son of the son of Groot v.1

I just IMDB’d Robert Downey Jr. He has a film credit for “untitled Avengers movie” that has already been filmed and is in post production. It is set to release in 2019. I would bet that is the part 2 of Infinity War and the name hasn’tbeen Publicized yet because they don’t want to let the cat out of the bag just yet.

Okay, so some non-obvious thoughts:

-I loved seeing Bruce problem-solving his way through the movie without Hulk's help. Since Hulk is all but unkillable it was a refreshing change of pace, and allowed Mark Ruffalo to act as much-needed comic relief for the Earthbound Avengers.

-Groot was fantastic. Whatever happens with the character in future movies, I loved seeing the GOTG crew having to deal with a screen-obsessed teenager for the first half of the film.

-Not a fan of Thor getting his eye back. Chris Hemsworth looked great with that patch!

-Since none of the infinity stone deaths are likely to stick, I feel sort of cheated out of a catharsis in this movie.

-WTF was Red Skull doing in this movie? I may or may not have said, "Are you fucking kidding me?" out loud when he pulled his hood off.

-My favorite memory of seeing Infinity War for the first time will always be the guy in the row behind me shouting "Please someone, tell me what this means!" to the rest of the theater after the end-credits scene

ETA: i kept thinking Ebony Maw reminded me of someone and then I saw a clip of Fox & Friends from this morning and realized that Kellyanne Conway is kind of a ringer. Black Order seems right.
