I have everything crossed that we have a crazy wave around here!
That said, we had the most disturbing PIO shot last night because H must have nicked a blood vessel. Holy shit, I thought he was going to die.
I won't show you the pic of my bruise after I nicked a vessel from my lupron shot a week ago.
Oh, no!
@@@@@@@@ Do you feel you bruise/hit vessels more easily after a successful cycle? I didn't bruise once last time and now I bruise ALL the time. I wondered if it was luck or what.

Nah I just bruise easily. I had bruises with my successful cycle, and I have bruises now.
I can avoid vessels when I'm administering meds to my patients, but it's usually a one time shot. Not multiple times a day. Plus, the angle is usually easier.
Monitoring appt th is morning. Doc said everything looks perfect and just awaiting lab results to determine if we stay the same on my meds. Anxious to monitor my estradiol levels.
We didn't count follicles officially, but from what I could see, I think there were 6-7 on my right and 10ish on the left. She only measured the biggest 3 on each side, and I have a 12, 2 11s, 2 10s and a 9.

Can you explain to me what your estradiol levels mean? I know mine are being monitored, but I'm not sure what the implications are.

Estradiol is a form of estrogen. You want to have some, in order to build a good lining. But... The higher the estradiol, the higher the risk of OHSS. I had OHSS with estradiol levels of 2500 and 3000 on day of trigger for my last 2 retrieval cycles. I'm hoping to keep it below 2000 on day of trigger this time. My RE said it should be below 100 today.
My RE added in femara, which is actually a breast cancer drug because it blocks the body from converting estrogen to estradiol. It is used off label for ovulation induction (instead of clomid) and now, to block estradiol in high risk IVF cycles. This is a relatively new protocol for her but she's been having great success.

That's really interesting pooh8402. I hadn't heard that before, I hope the protocol does the trick for you.
On the flip side, my very first IVF cycle was cancelled after a few days because my estradiol levels were too low. Tried a more aggressive protocol the following month which was successful (but did result in minor OHSS - nothing like what Pooh experienced).
Thanks ivy. I hope it does the trick, too. It's a very new protocol. My doctor first heard about it last year at a fertility conference, so it's a pretty new protocol for her.

I just watched the cetrotide injection video because I may have to start taking it depending on how my monitoring appointment goes tomorrow and now I’m scared shitless. The mixing. The needle. There’s so MUCH liquid.
I’m so scared I’m almost distracted from how scared I am that nothing is happening in my ovaries and they’re going to tell me I’m failing IVF.

First monitoring and it just makes me so nervous. My dose is low so I wasnt expecting anything amazing on day 5, but I only have 3 follicles at around 12mm, and lots of small follicles on the right and 3-4 small follicles on the left. I dont have to start cetrotide yet and I go back on Monday.

I don’t know how to feel.
Don't expect to see much the first monitoring appointment, and please don't base your expectations on my appointment--I have a very high AMH and antral follicle count and do not respond "as expected." I had like nothing my first monitoring appointment for my last retrieval, and my ovaries basically exploded by my next appointment 2 days later. It's actually a good thing you don't need the cetrotide yet.
