How is everyone! It's almost the weekend!!
E is transitioning to a one nap schedule, poor girl is having a rough time. Today though she took a 2.75 hour nap! She definitely needed it. I'm also trying to figure out my new schedule too and how to do everything I used to do over two naps during one nap.
She's been playing with her toys a lot more and doing some fine motor type things, so I need to find some more activities for her to do. She's also using some of her signs without prompting and doing them closer to the correct way - I can just about distinguish between "open" and "help" now. I asked her speech therapist about a sign for yes, because she hasn't figured out how to nod her head yet. The one he showed me won't really work, because it's too close to how she does "all done". Did/do your kids do anything to indicate yes?
One of Cal's favorite fine motor skills activity is scooping dry rice from one bowl to another. We give him a couple measuring cups (usually a 1/4 cup and a 1 tbsp) and two containers (one with rice and one without) and he'll happily scoop back and forth forever lol. Its messy, but a good way to get a break when I need one!
Everything is good with us. Cal is at such a fun stage and I'm really enjoying him these days. I took him into my office yesterday for a halloween party and he had a ball trick or treating through cubeland, ha. He had his first chocolate/candy and quickly became a "MORE!" monster.
I'm almost 9 weeks pregnant and feeling pretty decent. I'll be relieved when I get to 12 weeks and can relax a bit more.
Things are good here. DS is growing like a weed. Some of you might remember I was concerned he might be a little speech delayed. I finally got up the nerve to schedule an assessment with the county. That happens mid November. I still think he's PROBABLY fine, but I think it will be good to get a professional opinion. I would hate myself if I waited too long and he was delayed. Plus it's free so might as well.
When we went to 1 nap DS started taking super long naps which is nice. Sometimes he'll nap from 1-5 on the weekends!
I can't believe he'll be 2 in less than 2 weeks!
We went through IVF stims this month and our transfer got cancelled due to high progesterone. We have one blast on ice that we'll transfer after Thanksgiving. Hopefully it works otherwise we'll be cycling again in 2019 (after I drink a lot of wine first).
Good luck, icedcoffee! I hope that one blast is all you need. And good luck with the speech evaluation, too. I cannot believe our boys are about to turn 2!
My DS also started taking super long naps once he dropped to one. Its not uncommon for him to be down for 3.5 hours, which is such a nice breather.
We are doing good! We just moved back to the states a couple months ago to the SE part of the country. Hello heat and humidity! Though right now fall is sorta here and it feels glorious!
Z turns 3 on Tuesday. I cant believe 3 years just flew by so fast! We are having a little party for him tomorrow with some new friends we've made here. We started him in preschool 5 days a week for a few hours in the morning, and it's been good for him. Hes a bit shy with people he doesnt know, especially around others kids hes not familiar with. School has helped him come out of his shell a bit and it's been so fun to see! We joke he is our little sour patch kid. He can be so sweet, and then flip a switch and be sour/sassy, and then right back to sweet. Hes definitely got a strong independent, slightly stubborn personality!
We are gearing up for a FET in January for #2. I'm not thrilled about doing this all again, but our family doesn't feel complete yet. So here we go!
Hi! Things are good! E is almost 5.5 months (wtf?), he can sit unassisted for a few mins, scoots backwards all the time and is slowly starting to figure out crawling. He is just the sweetest. We have also figured out his sleep which has been great.
We have started BLW and although he loves putting everything else in his mouth, he is still very hesitant about putting any food in his mouth lol. He loves baby cereal though.
I can't believe I'm almost at my due date. 9 days to go!! We've got almost everything ready, just need to finish organizing/putting away her clothes and supplies in the now completed baby room (we finished closing off the bonus space into a bedroom with a wall/door on Monday). I'm kind of really excited about my last shift of work next week, ha! I was previously thinking if she wasn't here by the 4th I could pick up more shifts that week until she comes, but the closer I get the more I'm like...or I could just sit around my house and take lots of naps. Probably that's what I'll go with.
We went to our childbirth class last weekend and that went well, I'm a little nervous about labor but pretty ready for it to happen too. My H is being awesome and helping do laundry for baby, asking what else needs to be done and putting together furniture etc. He really seemed to pay attention in the class and seems into being a good labor partner, and I am really getting the feeling he's going to be an awesome and super involved and helpful dad once she is here. It makes me even more excited for her to get here!

Hey ladies! Not a ton going on around here, just gearing up for Halloween! We had to take G to get his blood drawn yesterday for an allergy test as well as hemoglobins and lead test. I was freaking out he would pitch a fit but all he did was sit there and look at the needle in his arm. Strange kid! So, thankfully that was a non-event and we should get the results back in a week or so.
I can't believe November is right around the corner! We're heading to CT for Thanksgiving, and then it'll be Christmas time...crazy how this year has flown! Anyone already planning what they're getting their babies for Christmas??
Hi all! Speaking of nap dropping... my DH has decided that A should probably drop her nap (as the SAHD, he gets to decide). We've now gone 2 days without, and there is an enormous improvement at bed time. Instead of stalling until 9 or 9:30, she's been going down without protest at 7:30. I feel bad for my H though. Now he basically gets no break during the day, other than when she's at preschool.

We actually push bedtime and naptime back recently and it made a huge improvement. He’s always gone to bed fairly well, but he was skipping 2-3 naps a week. I NEED the naptime above all else. Our previous schedule was a 8 pm bedtime on nap days / 7:30 on non-nap days. He would wake up around 6:15 usually and go down for nap at 1. His naps were short, 1-1.5 hours. New schedule is 8:30 pm bedtime (he rarely skips naps now). We usually have to wake him up at 6:30 for school. He goes down for nap at 1:30 and is napping until 3:30 or 4, sometimes even 4:30.

Z still naps once a days, but usually only for 45 minutes to an hour. Bedtime is still around 7:30/8pm. Hes not ready to drop a nap, and I'm not ready either so I hope thats not in our near future!

This was the case for us for the past few months. Then suddenly she was going down at 1:30, but not falling asleep until 2:30 or even 3. Then sleeping until 4pm and just horrendous to wake up. Then an energizer bunny until 9:30. I go to bed at around 10:30 and I need more then an hour of grown-up time in the evening. But I would definitely modify and get her up earlier or something if I needed her to nap because of work. And maybe my H will have to do that too, but for now he seems to think he can handle her giving them up. She's not a beast or overtired or anything when she doesn't nap...
thoseareradishes, I'd go with a shade of pink similar to the pale pink petals on the flowers. Or the yellow if you like bright tights. Cream would work fine too, though.
Haven't been around much, but things are going well over here. Other than L being sick pretty much since he started daycare. His first tooth just popped through and we've started solids. He's still a little peanut. But we are enjoying him so so much. He's such a happy little guy (well, most of the time).

For all of our sleep troubles, C has remained a solid napper. She averages 2-2 and a half hours on the weekends with no complaints. I will be so sad when they are over. Do you think she would do well with an hour of quiet time in her room with books midday?

Hmmm I would consider waking up in the morning if you decide you need the nap. The good thing is that nap sleep is less restorative than overnight sleep. If he gets 11 or more hours overnight he won’t be tired AT ALL for a nap and totally fine during the day. If we cap overnight sleep to 10 hours, he needs at least a 2 hour nap. Even when he naps until 4:30 (because sometimes he won’t fall asleep until 2:30 or so) he will go right down at 8:30. But whatever works best for your schedule is key! Maybe try a wake up and nap at 12:30?

I am very tired. My kid never stops moving. He runs constantly. He’s into everything. And he puts EVERYTHING in his mouth. He licked a support beam at the aquarium the other day. Jesus.
He’s almost 17 months. Can’t figure out if he wants to drop to one nap. I need it to be longer if he drops to one. So tired. I am still only working part time- twice a week In the office and I’m supposed to do about 6 hours from home. I haven’t been doing more than a couple hours at home in months. I don’t have a ton of work to do and it’s way too hard with buddy being a maniac all day. I really want to SAHM after our (hopefully) second kid, and that can’t come soon enough. I like my job, but being a lawyer doesn’t give my life meaning. My job is just a job to me.
On that note, I’m currently on day 3 of estrace. Hopefully doing a FET around the middle of the month. Eeeeeek.

knx9211, so we're in the process of switching to one nap. E is almost 20 months old, about 16 adjusted. I've been going back and forth about it for a month or so, but then last week she refused her second nap two days in a row, so I was like, ok kiddo, here we go. It's been rough but not as bad as I thought it would be. She's definitely tired and has had some bouts of extreme whinyness, but has taken a nice 2.5-3 hour nap the last 4 days and gone to bed around 7 (30 minutes earlier than before). I'm surprised at how quickly she has lengthened her nap.
And yep, E still puts stuff in her mouth a lot, although she's finally stopped doing it ALL THE TIME. Dental hygienist suggested that her molars were still coming in, so maybe if that was the case they are all the way in now. I still have to watch her like a hawk when we're outside, because girlfriend loves to sneak an acorn cap or leaf in her mouth. She also exasperates her speech therapist with it, because she does it just to get a rise out of him. Which I think is hysterical, but I try to be very serious about it (heh).
R (29 mos) still naps regularly. DD napped regularly until she started kindy at 5 yo. IME day care kids nap longer. My friends’ kids who SAH dropped naps early, some even before 3. Daycare made them keep napping which was fine by me, but we did have trouble with them allowing DD to nap all afternoon and then she didn’t want to go to bed at a reasonable time. We had to ask them to limit naps to 1.5h at most.
thoseareradishes - you’re giving me hope! I can handle one nap (and it actually would make it easier to start taking him to activities and being around other kids!), but I can’t handle it only being 90 minutes.
His one molar still isn’t 100% through. And now he’s getting THREE canines at the same time. Send help.
thoseareradishes, I agree with the mustard tights for sure. I LOVE that look.
S is 15 months and doing great. He is at a fun, but exhausting stage. He is very much a mama's boy and is very attached to me but also has no stranger danger and loves to play. BEYOND adventurous and always looking to try new things. Other than being his mama, I have been feeling very out of sorts and depressed lately. I have been meeting with my doctor and regularly and hope to feel like myself again soon, but I will not lie, life has been rough for me the last few months.

When we dropped to one nap, it's usually 2-3 hours. Which is nice. G is also teething like a mother...three canines at once (his molars are in already...so he had these funky looking gaps). I totally feel ya. Hang in there!!!

Hugs lady, I'm sorry you're feeling out of sorts. Hopefully your doctor can help you feel better!

J just sent me a video of G at the Mom's Club open gym (yes, J is a member of the "Mom's Club", which I think is super adorable). OMG...G in his Halloween costume...walking around. I nearly died!! He's so damn cute!!
I posted the video on IG if y'all are interested in seeing it!
