Nothing too crazy, just a lot of little stuff. Garden club, hair appt, derm appt. Need to cut DS's hair and tag for consignment sale. Hoping to take family pics on Sunday if everything works out!
It's my WFH day. I have a ton of small issues that I've been procrastinating on so I should probably resolve those today. All stuff that I have to contact at least one other person on so I've been avoiding!
I'm making dairy free cream of mushroom soup this week so I'm kind of excited about that, haha.
I'm hoping that H finishes up my new office so I can move into it this week. The time frame that he has to get the rest of the remodeling on our list done is really starting to stress me out. I'm trying not to nag/push him too much, but it's getting to the point where I'm going to have to if things don't get moving soon.
I have an @ appt tomorrow. Other than that, I'm looking forward to a relatively quiet week.
I mentioned in last week’s thread about a local firefighter and triathlete being hit by a DUI while riding. He has three little girls. DH just called to let me know he passed away. My heart is devastated for his family. I cannot imagine what they are all going through right now.
Busy week. I have 23 parent conferences today between 12-8pm. Only 5 or 6 tomorrow which is nice. I need to get some lesson planning done tomorrow in between my meetings.
Saturday we are getting family photos taken since they got cancelled due to the weather last week. My MIL is also coming to visit and I really don't want her to.

I had an early doctor's appointment this morning, it's near DH's work so we all drove in together and he took the kids while I went. Since it was so early we had time to grab bagels and coffee before he went to work. Of course it was pouring rain so walking around/getting the kids in and out of the car was fun!
Thursday DH is off so I think we're going to take a trip to the science museum since we have tickets to use by the end of the year. We'll also grab lunch out.
Otherwise, fairly quiet week. Lots of errands to do and R's class on Wed.
luv2rn4fun That's heartbreaking. That poor family.
Normal week. Music class, storytime, maybe fit in a play date.
DH and I had an awesome date day yesterday. I've definitely been feeling more like roommates lately so it was really needed to have some couple time. We have something going on most weekends from now until the end of the year but I'm hoping we can fit in another date soon. Really not sure when we will be able to do it though.
We also had the start of a conversation on finances this weekend. Not fun but nice to start to get a plan in place.
Normal week. I did get my hair done this morning (covered gray roots, did a glaze to darken my hair but not totally take away the highlights). Working, school, etc. Nothing too exciting.
Voting tomorrow. Doctors appt for DS Wed. My sister's baby shower is Saturday so I need to get a gift and then we are going to a Christmas craft show Sunday.
I am ready to vote. I saw 4/5 candidate ads in a row this morning while watching the news.
luv2rn4fun I read that story in the news this morning and was praying for him to pull through. I am so sad to read this news.
I am a politics geek, so tomorrow is like my Christmas. (Not quite, but it's an exciting day.)
Sadly my boss's boss passed away very young last week (in his 50s), so I have his service this week.
This Saturday we are going to see the Grinch with DS1's preschool besties and we have a friend's party at night. And on Sunday, my mom and I are road-tripping to a fun vintage/craft show in Milwaukee while H has the kids.
I walked to city hall with the boys and turned in our ballots (voting tomorrow would be hard unless I did it before DH left for work or after bedtime). On the way there we saw 4 helicopters lined up in the sky. Later found out it was for the procession of the fire captain who died.
krystee- I prayed so hard this weekend for a miracle. It’s so devastating and it could have been prevented. I hope he gets tried for DUI murder...there haven’t been many details but I did read that he was on the sidewalk when he was hit and the driver was going 60 mph (likely a 45 mph zone). These new details make me sick...I walk with the boys on a similarly busy street all the time...you would think that you would be safe on a sidewalk, especially when there is also a bike lane (more distance between you and drivers).
Not much going on this week. H and I are on weird schedules. He has off today and next Monday; I have off Thursday/Friday. We are keeping the kids in daycare (since we have to pay regardless) and hope we each get to accomplish a few projects we've been meaning to do. H has a bunch of little house projects and some yardwork, and I hope to get a bunch of the kids clothes/toys sorted for donation/resale/trash. If I can steam clean the carpets I will be satisfied too. I also plan to squeeze in a quick shopping trip to return a sweater and maybe browse for some new shoes, and maybe take a nap
Suspect was charged with murder today and will face 15 years to life in prison. He supposedly was under the influence of multiple controlled substances. I hope justice is found for this fire captain and his family. Nothing can bring him back but this person needs to be held accountable.

Liked that he was charged and should face significant time.

I really hope so. I don’t see any way that he won’t be found guilty. He stayed at the scene, he clearly was the person who hit him, multiple prescriptions were found in his van, and a DUI/drug expert was on scene to perform the evaluation.

Ugh. I'm glad he was charged. Was he found with any air cans or anything? Seems like that's been a popular thing.. huff something and go drive and kill people in an accident 😡 I think that's what happened with those Girl Scouts in WI and that happened here a few months ago too. I wish there was a better way to keep people from driving while on drugs, alcohol, etc. So horrible!

I think he was just under the influence of at least one, if not multiple substances (and multiple prescriptions were found in his car- nothing has specified if they were in his name or not...this happened at 8a on a Sat too). I read a couple comments saying that he wasn’t training for his upcoming Ironman on this particular day...he had dropped his car off to be serviced and was riding a short distance home (without a helmet and on the sidewalk, which makes sense why he was on the sidewalk since a training ride likely would be in the road) to go to his daughters soccer game. Driver went onto the sidewalk and hit him going 60 mph (so, while he should have been wearing a helmet, I don’t know if that would have save his life...seems like the body trauma would have been too much...but his MIL did state that his brain stem was mush and that’s why they took him off life support).
I agree...I wish there was some way to prevent this from happening. And that people would simply pay attention while driving. It was dangerous back when I did Ironman training 10 years ago but it’s much worse now because people are constantly on their phones. Our county averages over 1 cyclist death/month. I read that there were 840 cyclist fatalities last year. It’s insane and so tragic 🙁
H has been dead set on getting a new TV for a really long time. I've told him no for years because we have a TV that works fine. He found a good deal on an Amazon enabled TV and I might finally say yes. Ugh. He got a gift card for his work anniversary that more than covers it, but still. Planning on using the rest for Christmas shopping. Trying to decide if I should finally give in, lol.

We have the same dynamic here- DH wants and new tv and I don’t. In your case, that gift card would actually be DH’s to spend however he wants (same with if you got a similar gift at work). I would totally give in given the circumstances.

The difference though is even when I get things at work I spend it on house stuff, never myself. Which is partially my own fault I guess but still. There are just so many other things we could spend the money on like Christmas, A's birthday, house stuff, etc, especially since our finances aren't great at the moment. We've always had drastically different views on money.. he already gets his "allowance" he kept saying he was going to save for a TV but he blows it every month. He also mentions it every single chance he gets so I was already annoyed when he mentioned it today.
And now I'm pissed because he told E they were going to the store and now of course if I say no I'm the bad guy. This is on top of some other crap he's pulled lately so.. I'm just not in a happy place right now.
