Hi, I don't recognize a ton of names. But I started on the board many many years ago. The people I have started with and we're on the board with are all mostly now on the graduates but I never made it over there.
Anyways I am back. This weekend my husband and I decided to do a second ivf in 2019. We are expecting it to be somewhere around June.
A brief history. Started trying in 2010. Was diagnosed unexplained in 2012. In 2015 found out I had endo. In 2016 had an ivf with two fets during that year all failed.
So I am back and just wanted to say hi. I hope everyone has a great week.
Oh my gosh! Welcome back! I was thinking about you recently and wondering what you were up to! Iβm sorry you find yourself back here but I hope you have success with this IVF cycle.
For me I'm just sitting here waiting and waiting and waiting. We're starting IVF January and period should have arrived last week but nope, it's not here and doesn't seem like it will be. I have PCOS so it's always a guessing game. I think today is CD40. I wanted to start sooner however with DH's work schedule it's impossible for him to get a few days off. We're not using our local RE but instead traveling 6 hours away primarily because of price (4k versus 11k for 1 cycle). I'll just do my monitoring locally.

ilovecandy welcome back...although I'm sorry that you have be here again, hopefully 2019 will have good things in store! icedcoffee good luck tomorrow!!
I had my fourth biopsy this morning to see if my endometritis has cleared up with another round of antibiotics. That will also be the last time I see my current RE (I made a separate post about that drama). I called this morning and made an appt with a new practice (Shady Grove) for December 17...I should be a few days into my period by then, so my hope is that we can cycle right away starting in January.

Welcome back ilovecandy. I hope this next cycle is it for you!
I had blood work this morning to continue testing my beta to zero and it was a shitshow. Did the draw, she only took one vial of blood. I asked if one vial was enough for the extra tests my doctor ordered (karyotype) and she had to go look in the system, sure enough there were more tests ordered and she had to draw again. She tried the other arm where I did bloodwork Sat but my vein was all blown out so she stabbed me 2 times and nothing came out and it hurt like fuck so I started crying and she wanted me to come back another day but I refused to leave because the karyotype takes 4 weeks to come back. So finally they drew it out of a little vein on the side of my arm and it was slow af but it worked. I am sore and covered in bandaids.
Now Iβm at home snuggled under the electric blanket. Iβm taking time off from work this week even though itβs outrageously inconvenient for my team. I just canβt.
Hi ilovecandy. I'm back again as well. We are planning a FET in Feb.
My first world problem for the week: My H is gone for a few weeks for work. I woke up to find none of our outdoor plugs are working this morning. This means I cant turn our outdoor Christmas lights on if I cant figure out the problem which to be honest, I dont think I can because I've already flipped the breakers for it hoping that would do the trick. I love Christmas lights and was so happy to put them up last weekend. Boo.

Ugh seeyalater52. I am sorry. That is so frustrating. Enjoy your electric blanket snuggles! That sounds lovely. I've been warming my ass with a heating pad in bed after my PIO shot every night and it's the best part of my night. LOL
I have my IVF orientation at the new RE next Tuesday. We'll have to wait for the January cycle, since the lab shuts down for the week between Christmas and New Years (pretty common).

Iβm officially rolling into a mock cycle to do ERA and hysteroscopy. And now that my levels are confirmed at 0 my big bloodwork panel is on Friday. My poor arms.
Iβm at the dr waiting for my pre-op consultation. Iβm thinking retrieval will be this weekend sometime? So far this cycle seems like the best in terms of follicle growth, so thatβs good!
Depending on the outcome of this retreival weβll need to make a decision about whether we want to do more retrievals or start transferring the frozen embryos we have (2 so far). I think it really comes down to whether or not we would want to have enough embryos banked for 2 kids. Weβve always wanted more than 1.
On the one hand, going through all of this makes me feel like I should and would be incredibly grateful for 1 child. And after the years we have spent, I feel anxious to transfer the embryos we have and (hopefully) see a positive result from all this ASAP.
On the other hand, a little more delay and effort now might set us up better for the future we really want.
I donβt know - it really might depend on how many embryos we get from this cycle. I seem to be responding best to this protocol so it might be worth doing again. Tough decisions!

Iβm sorry friend. I feel your pain - I have very deep veins and they had to poke me three times this morning. Iβm so bruised I look like an addict.

Welcome back ilovecandy and G22 ! Crossing my fingers for you both. I'm new to IF but not GBCN; I just changed my username to be more anonymous.
I'm scheduled for surgery Dec 7 and am supposed to be starting steps for IVF now. I emailed the nurse last Mon because my surgery is scheduled for the day I should start my period (which may be a problem? google got me nowhere) + wanted to know who to contact about IVF next steps. Heard nothing. Called on Wednesday morning, before they closed for the holidays, to at least confirm the surgery can happen and got no response.
So today at lunch, I called and let the receptionist know I had left a voicemail and email last week and still hadn't heard. She promised to pass it on.
It's 3:45pm and still no response but I'm hoping she returns calls at the end of the day?
I'm trying not to get ansy but I really really need to know if the surgery needs to move dates. He only operates on Fridays and that really affects my work schedule. But don't want to be that girl, you know?
Gah.
UPDATE: I knew as soon as I bitched about not getting a response my phone would ring She has sent me emails but for some reason, their system and yahoo aren't talking. We switched to using my work email and that seems to be the fix. Surgery CAN happen even on my period & I got the name of the IVF coordinator to call in the morning. Whew.
I don't remember having insomnia during my last medicated cycle and ivf either. But I have had insomnia in the past. So I feel you. It sucks.
Thanks everyone for the warm welcome back. It is looking like it will probably be summertime for ivf we have to update our blood tests and semen test. Plus the doctor is scheduling a couple months out at this point so yeh.
Hi g22 did you ship your embryos because if I remember correctly you went through ivf not where you are currently living. Or are you going to travel back?
Up until this cycle my clinic gave me the same protocol that I had three years ago and it included baby aspirin and prednisone. This cycle I have now has neither of these and last transfer they upped the estrogen. When I asked I was told 'its their standard protocol now'. I'm of course annoyed since the 'old standard' resulted in implantation in 3 out or 4 transfers and it seems odd that a protocol they used for at least 4 years is suddenly out of favor.
So my questions is does anyone's protocols still use baby aspirin and predinsone? I know plenty of studies have said neither drug results in noticeable increases in implantation but those studies, as far as I am aware, have been around for a while and aren't recent enough to warrant what feels like a sudden change.

shoeless my clinic gives baby aspirin as standard with FET protocol and medrol rather than prednisone (same concept) in cases of repeat failed implantation. Their thinking is that while neither has great evidence they also canβt really hurt you. If you had good implantation results with the other protocol Iβd probably push back against the change.
ilovecandy Yes we shipped them from our old clinic to our new one recently. They made the trip safely thankfully. We've moved a few times since we did IVF last time and are at the complete opposite end of the US now. It was easier/cheaper to find a new clinic here rather than traveling back to WA, though I'm still traveling 2 hours for the closet city with a RE. It's better than 11 hours away and 3 weeks in a hotel during each IVF cycle so no complaints.

Thanks everyone! The embryo thawed beautifully and the embryologist said it was the best one she has seen all day. I cried. LOL. Beta is December 10th.

Yeh it is. Our last ivf we traveled 1.5 hours for the re.

Had my ultrasound yesterday for follicle check and gave about a gallon of blood for testing. No idea when I hear results, hopefully soon. I have an appointment with another fertility group on Friday. I know RPL can often get the unknown diagnosis so I thought I'd try to get a second opinion.

Let us know if you get any additional thoughts from a second opinion. I have an RPL with unknown cause. I actually found maternal fetal medicine to be as helpful if not more so than RE. If you don't get any answers, that's another potential option. I hope you can get some answers though!
