It’s exciting that people are starting to throw their hats in the ring. However, I do not want a field of 10 candidates leading the way to Howard Schultz winning the nomination.
I hope Warren, Harris, Klobuchar, and O’Rourke all run solely because I want to see them all debate Bernie.
Ahh. She may not be my top pick at the moment but I am simultaneously getting excited for and dreading the primaries and general election. Bring it on!

I mean, we expected this, right? I’m not mad at her for doing it, and I hope she’s ready for what’s going to come her way. I have a feeling this is going to seem like the longest primary ever.

Yes, I have a feeling the first few announcements won't be surprises. Several years ago I would have probably been more excited about the prospect of Warren as president than I am now. Even if I'm not as excited now, I can't imagine she won't be prepared for the additional mudslinging to come.
I like Elizabeth Warren and I think she's done a great job as my Senator, but she's not the best chance to win. On the plus side, I don't see her pulling a Bernie and basically splitting the party during the primary and weakening our chances in the general.

I’m happy about this. I think she’s very qualified and a string contender. I’ve loved her work in Senate. And I think that she appeals to the Bernie contingent but also has appeal to more mainstream liberals and can pull this out actually. My Bernie bro brother lives with us and I just told him and he’s really excited.
I trust that she’ll keep Bernie from running and splitting the party like in 2016 since she has the progressive wing’s support, and she’s a far better person and leader than Bernie.
I’m still watching for Kamala as my first choice, but Inwould be happy with Warren based on her record in Senate.

So. I don't think she will win, obviously. And I wasn't really here for her running at all. But I was thinking this morning, and now have this wild-ass theory that is probably crazy, but what if she is running specifically to draw Trump's fire and clear the air for other candidates? He has a particular derangement when it comes to her, and she clearly knows that.
Totally crazy? Yeah, probably. I hope we see more announcements soon, as said above. I'm ready to get into this.

I don’t think she’s being a smoke screen. I think his laser focus on insulting her was the thing that propelled her to want to beat his sorry ass.

I think that's probably more likely. But I have to think she is at least aware of how it may go down. I do hope that her getting out in front will give Bernie pause.
I’m excited if only because either Bernie may not run now, or she’ll get votes that may otherwise have gone to Bernie, making it less likely that he’ll win the nomination.
I don’t love her and she wouldn’t be my first choice but I think we should be excited that a strong woman is the first to jump out of the gate to take on this monster.

I had that thought too, but I don't think it's the case because I feel like she's been setting up for this for quite a while.
I think she's a great senator but I don't think she has a good chance.
What the hell, guys? Elizabth Warren can't beat trump? That's ludicrous! Of course she can; any of them can. The question isn't who can beat him, but what's their vision and plan? That's where we need to be focused. 2020 needs to be about our agenda and how it will positively impact voters' lives. Beating trump will be the bonus.

I'm all for the strongest candidate who can kick Cheeto's sorry ass right on out of the White House. We cannot have 4 more years of this crap. I guess my (rhetorical) question is, who is that person? Warren has a good record as a senator--and I agree with the Bernie points in regards to her candidacy in this thread as well--so why couldn't she win (that's the impression I have--that she won't win)?

Guys, Bernie is still going to run. He doesn’t give a shit that Warren is running and he has likely known she planned to launch a committee for some months now. He is still planning to run and will announce soon.
I’m not super thrilled about Warren’s run and right now she isn’t my top choice (although she may end up there depending on who else runs) but the one thing I do think it will do is take the wind out of the “Bernie is the only real progressive” argument. There’s no reasonable way to claim that Warren isn’t a solid progressive. I think her being in the race is a good thing.
Her biggest liability is that she’s an “east coast elitist” but its clear from her video that she is trying to downplay that in favor of her Oklahoma roots. Her message is actually VERY good in that video so if she stays on track I think she could get some traction even if she doesn’t ultimately win.
My flammable opinion is that I think this election, our final candidate should be male. Trump is highly dangerous and incompetent, and there is a certain percentage of America that will not vote for a woman under any circumstances. Breaks my heart to say it. Idk yet if this will influence how I vote in the primary.
Playing these sorts of games with electoral math is very dangerous though. There is a small group of people who will never vote for a woman. The group of reliable democratic voters that will never vote for a woman is smaller than that but there are surely some. But there’s no real way to measure that against the risk of losing out on the better candidate, the one people were excited about that would have gotten people out to the polls.
It’s a mistake to get too wrapped up in what we think voters will do or what they want because it’s nearly impossible to predict it accurately and there’s too many variables. Primary performance answers these questions for us way better than hypotheses about demographics do.

So we should continue to not empower women because patriarchy won’t like it, and therefore, we can support patriarchy and keep it intact?
It goes without saying you meant a white man, too, seeing as how you’re looking to placate bigots.
