2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week?
I'm just so sick of feeling low-level crappy all the time. I don't know if its because I'm over 30 this time or what but I'm so tired all the time and food is gross and I just feel gross. Also I'm too bloated for my 'real' clothes but no belly for maternity clothes to hold on to. Whine, whine, whine. haha.
3. Questions for the group?
not that I can think of.
4. Do you plan to have any visitors/helpers immediately after giving birth? Has this been a source of tension at all with your spouse or family? Probably my mom will come stay with us to be with DS. I am counting on being induced again so I can plan this all out haha. I assume she will bring him up the next day or whatever. Last time we invited people before we were even out of L&D which was overwhelming so I definitely will not be doing that again. Both of our families are very good about respecting our space so no tension there luckily.
3. Questions for the group? Hospital bag. When did you pack yours and what did you pack?
I didn’t actually pack the bag until I was in labour (that was at 41w3d) but I had sort of prepared a bit by putting a few things in a pile on the changing table. And then a note next to the pile with a few things I still needed/used that couldn’t be packed until go time. It was fairly basic - a pair of leggings, a dress and a few t-shirts. Some underwear and a nursing tank. A onesie and two pair of pants for the baby and a soft blanket. Hairbrush, a few toiletries and minimal makeup (don’t remember if I used or not but it was just mascara, a blush and a lip gloss). A couple of t-shirts and some underwear for DH. iPhone chargers. Not sure if there was anything else to be honest.
But seriously. You're presumably large, struggling to breathe, and probably have a bit of congestion. H whines about it, but realizes it's just a fact of life at this stage.
Ha! Yes. He has just been moving to the spare room, but I am not a snorer usually, so I feel terrible! It will soon be over at least!
My h told me the other night that I was snoring😢. He said he felt so bad for me because he knows how uncomfortable I have been and how little I sleep. I’m almost glad that he got a little taste of what it’s like to sleep next to him🤣. Susie I’m washing everything in tide clear (what I use for my sensitive skin) and calling it a day. I don’t have room for a ton of detergents and I think as long as it’s a clear detergent I’m good.
I’m tired and swollen at this stage, but my Dr said I ook fine. If one more person tells me that I have gotten big or that I look ready, I’m going to scream.
I’m definitely not fully prepared yet, I hope to check things off my list this weekend. As crazy as if sounds, I can’t help looking at summer dresses and daydream of wearing them.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? I've been more nauseous recently. Ugh. I woke up at 3am this morning so sick and having to eat crackers in bed.
3. Questions for the group? Related to the above, has anyone else had morning sickness kick in late? I was pretty much fine up until a few weeks ago, minor nausea here and there but nothing horrible, but I puked for the first time at 24 weeks, and I've had a few mornings since then where I've been extremely nauseous and almost puking. Just seems strange that it's ramping up now.
4. Do you plan to have any visitors/helpers immediately after giving birth? Has this been a source of tension at all with your spouse or family? My parents will come to stay with us. I'm really going to try to keep them at 2-3 weeks. They were here for 7 weeks when DS was born. DH was not happy about it. He doesn't want any visitors for that long. And we only have a 2 bedroom, and I don't plan on kicking DS out of his room since we're just getting a good routine with him going to bed (he'll be 16 months when DD is born). So they'll be sleeping in the living room, which is hugely inconvenient.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? The house is almost ready to go on the market, which has been the biggest project the past two weeks. We are at the finish line now, but the weekends on my feet cleaning and sorting are killing me. I’ve tried to pack as much as I can now since I know it won’t be easier in 2 months when we go to move.
3. Questions for the group?
4. Do you plan to have any visitors/helpers immediately after giving birth? Has this been a source of tension at all with your spouse or family? All family is local and helpful. They will just be in and out and I will have some people come by to check in when DH returns to work after a couple of weeks. They will bring lots of food but they don’t generally help with laundry. I’m not too worried about that unless I have a C-Section.
All the food? Seriously, I was RAVENOUS while breastfeeding so having snacks you can easily eat one-handed ready, and a water bottle, was key for me.
Other than that, nursing friendly shirts and a boppy.
I forgot about thar boppy. My son Hated it, I ended up tossing it. Thanks for the reminder!
We were the opposite; DS had a super hard time nursing without it. It was inconvenient to have to bring it everywhere and I'm hoping to be less reliant on it this time!
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? Just praying my appetite comes back soon. I miss enjoying food!
3. Questions for the group? No
4. Do you plan to have any visitors/helpers immediately after giving birth? Has this been a source of tension at all with your spouse or family? Yes, my SIL was my doula last time and I plan on having her there again. My ILs will probably come asap when they get a call I'm in labor so they can be with Z (they live a few hours away). My parents will probably come a couple days afterwards to help out once we get home from the hospital. None of this causes any issues.
chocolatepie, I bought some bra strap extenders from Soma and they have been awesome. I use them mainly for my sports bras but also for just a few of my regular bras. It's definitely helped me get some additional wear.
I waited until I was a full cup size up before buying any new bras, and ended up getting two of Soma's nursing bras and I love them. I've leveled out one cup size larger, and figure when I give birth I'll be in more comfy bras anyway. Hopefully I can use the newer nursing bras once I go back to work? We'll see.
scm1011 sounds like it’s time for your husband to tell his parents they need to get a hotel room and that for the first x number of weeks visitors can only stay for an hour at a time!
Susie I’m just using our regular detergent. Even if it wasn’t a sensitive/fragrance free one (Ds2s has exema) I would use the regular stuff until it proved to be an issue.
Susie I never used a baby detergent for DS. We use the regular Gain and that's what I used from the beginning for his clothes with no issue.
Same, we have always used just regular Tide.
Susie Ditto. I never used Dreft for DS. My plan all along was to switch to it if we noticed skin irritation. We never did so I continued with our usual Kirkland brand pods. My reasoning was that it's expensive and if I wasn't going to use it on MY clothes too then what's the point? He was always cuddled up next to me/nursing/etc. Also--I preferred to just do one load of his and my clothes.
Honestly, I think the whole thing is unnecessary for most babies. Do some have super sensitive skin? Sure. And those babies should switch, but I don't think most babies NEED to use Dreft/Tide Free/etc.
Question for those who successfully BF, what do I need to buy? From memory: bra pads, lansinoh cream, can’t remember what else. Thank you!
Soothies breast pads 2 sets of the lansinoh gel breast pads with pearls Night bra & day bra (May just need one depending on breast size. I’ve got a large chest and bras that were supportive enough for the day weren’t comfortable enough for night and I needed one tonold the pads)
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? I went to L&D for a migraine that I had for 24 hours. Tylenol + caffeine wasn’t touching it so they gave me something stronger. Not thrilled about that but man the relief was nice.
FIL bought us a SNOO because someone in his office has it and liked it. lol
3. Questions for the group? How am I going to make it 10 more weeks 😂
4. Do you plan to have any visitors/helpers immediately after giving birth? Has this been a source of tension at all with your spouse or family?
My sister, mom & stepmom will bring the older kids to the hospital. I haven’t decided if I want MIL & FIL OR BIL & SIL to come but they haven’t mentioned anything so I think they’ll be good with whatever we pick.
It looks like DH will still be working out of town once baby arrives so I am getting ALL THE HELP. I know it’s excessive for a SAHM but I’m really trying to avoid such severe PPD/PPA this time.
We are hoping DH will WFH week 38 and I will be induced at 39 weeks. He will then take 2 weeks of vacation/paternity leave and WFH 2 weeks after that (last week is 4th of July anyways).
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? I've officially hit the Very Uncomfortable stage.
3. Questions for the group? n/a
4. Do you plan to have any visitors/helpers immediately after giving birth? Has this been a source of tension at all with your spouse or family?
My ILs are local and will be taking care of DD and our dog when I'm in the hospital. I imagine that like last time they will be super helpful in general. The wild card will be dealing with my mom. We don't have the best relationship and she's now retired, so there won't be the same external factors limiting her stay. I get BEC with her really quickly. She can be helpful, but needs a lot of direction. I don't entirely trust her as the sole eyes on DD, though DD loves spending time with her. I need to figure out what my boundaries for her are going to be in the next few weeks.
hamster, it could be really cute to have them in the same coming home outfit!
oliviapope, I think I just had a list until a couple weeks before my due date. Must haves for me--a phone charger with a long cable, toiletries, crocs or other forgiving shoes for the shower/ride home (this might be C-section specific), robe, comfy going home outfit-loose pants/nursing tank, going home outfit for baby.
Susie, I use All Free and Clear for all of our laundry.
chocolatepie, I've been wearing the Gilligan O'Malley maternity/nursing sleep bras at night the whole time this pregnancy. I got measured for larger bras partway through my last pregnancy, the opposite of the usual way--I started them on the innermost set of hooks and then expanded to the outermost set of hooks. I wore those again this time, and now I'm back into the nice stretchy Bravado maternity/nursing bras. Do whatever makes you comfortable!
latte, I'm no help. DH just informed me this weekend that the Breath Right strips are no longer working. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

1. How far along are you this week? 32 +3
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? Heartburn and swollen feet are my life right now
3. Questions for the group? none this week
4. Do you plan to have any visitors/helpers immediately after giving birth? Has this been a source of tension at all with your spouse or family? My mom is going to fly in from the US the day before my due date. She wants to be here for the birth so hopefully she makes it. She will stay with us for a month and we are excited to have her as she has so much experience (9 kids of her own and 20 grandchildren) and is somewhat of a baby whisperer. No other family is planning to come as of yet. Local friends will most likely stop by but I don't see them being helpful lol.
Susie we use dye and perfume free soap for the household anyway, so we didnt bother to make any changes.
As far as piles go, I hear you! When C was born we combined my office into H's pile of clutter room. Now that room has to go away too. The garage is an utter disaster, and we've had bookshelves in our hallway for literally 6 weeks waiting for space in the garage. To make matters worse, it all stays through the building of the addition because we will likely have space for most if not all of this stuff again in the next 6 months.
kellikans my morning sickness came back a couple of weeks ago. It's the pits. It's manageable with B6 and frequent eating, but I'm pretty irritated I ended up with about 12 good weeks of pregnancy eating.
1. 30+ weeks 2. I had to start insulin for GD and have to inject once before bedtime. I also have to see my OB and endo every other week and soon it will be weekly. I also need to get scans every other visit as well. Baby measuring right on track so far so hopefully it stays that way. I know if she measures ahead we will be looking at an early c-section. My hope is we get to stick to our original plan of 39 week induction. I have never had a csection before a terrified of recovery. 3. not today 4. My parents are local to the hospital I will deliver at, so they will likely come a few hours after baby is born with our two boys. I will send DH home at night - I really don't need him in the hospital room with me at night. It will just mean less sleep all around. Depends on the timing/when birth happens. Hopefully we will make it to when school ends so they will be in summer camp. My parents will be designated drivers for my kids camps/swim lessons in June and we will also all be staying at their house because it is closer to the hospital, DH's office, and where the kids will be in camp. In July we will go back home and then my parents will come to our house to help with DS1 and DS2. My MIL will likely come 6 to 8 weeks after birth. Since we are staying with my parents for the first month it was easy to ask her to come then. She'll be okay with staying for a long weekend so I'm not to stressed about her visit. She won't drive when she visits us ( she only will drive locally around her house), but is totally capable of it so that makes it tough sometimes, even now!
Oh, I do have a question. For those that have given birth before do the nurses come in at all hours of the night to do checks on baby or you? I remember with DS2 they'd come in all the time for routine checks and turn on the bright lights etc. I wish they would be quiet, leave the lights on low when they do the routine checks.

My experience may be a bit different than routine, but they came every 4 hours at night. I would call the nurses station and ask for my vital check when I was up tending to baby or pumping to avoid having them come in.

My DD was in the NICU, so I can't speak to checks on the baby. As far as checks on me, I don't really remember any MOTN. I spent a lot of my night in the NICU and no one seemed to miss me in my room, so I guess I didn't miss anything too important. I do remember being woken up (after finally falling asleep after being up most of the night in the NICU) at 6am so an OB could check my stitches, and so a nurse could draw blood to run tests to see if I could get my hep lock out. Not a great experience. They didn't even bring me any long overdue ibuprofen as a consolation prize!
