Yeah, my next reply would be "As i've asked before, please don't walk through my backyard. Especially if it's just for your dog to go to the bathroom".
How long is that leash that her dog took a shit while attached to it and she couldn't locate the poop? She was rightthere.
Good lord. What an asshole.
It’s so good actually; she’s totally scrambling. She didn’t know OP was home and now can’t get out of her lies. I would have some fun with that ‘refined’ lady neighbor lol. “You can’t smell dog shit when it’s only a leash away?”
I don’t believe that she couldn’t find the poop if the dog was on a leash. The dog would have crapped right in front of her. She saw you go out after and is trying to cover her steps/not seem as much of a shitty person as she is.
What a bizarre situation. It reminds me of our neighbors when I was a kid. I was inside the house with my grandparents when we saw someone in our backyard. It wound up being the neighbor kids and their mom (they had a kid who was my brothers friend) playing on our swing set! We had a fence, by the way, so they had to unlock the gate to use our play equipment. So bizarre. Our private backyard is not a playground! (And there actually was a playground within walking distance.)
Guys, she took the dog off its leash! She clearly intended to allow it to take a dump and leave it there.
THIS.
She let the dog off the leash but was never more than 10 feet from it. I saw the whole thing, except for when they went behind the shed, but it's small, so I know she was still close to the dog when he pooped.
She just said she's so sorry and she'll come look for it. I haven't responded. I'm trying to work (aside from my updates, of course!) and would like to deal with this once I'm off the clock. But if I see her back there, I'll have to go out. Ugh!
"Yes, I am too. I was confused about why you were in my yard in the first place and very disappointed that you left dog poop on my property. Please do not walk your dog on my property going forward and that goes double for your dog since you allowed it to defecate on my property and then didn’t clean it up. ."
Jesus. What the fuck is wrong with people!?
OP, That bitch is scrambling bc she totally took her dog to shit in your yard not realizing you were home.

Yeah, I'm convinced at this point. She was dishonest about him running over here, and even if I get past that, I don't see how she could have not seen where he pooped. As someone else pointed out, I found it easily enough, and I wasn't standing next to him when he did it.
She must have seen me go out; there's a good line of sight from her kitchen to my patio, which I had to cross to go out to the shed.
If you all think I was too concerned about what to say to her, you should speak with my H. He's the last confrontational person on the planet and he actually does want me to say something, but he's very concerned with my wording. He keeps saying I should gather information, not say things she can dispute. What does that even mean? It's not a terribly complicated scenario!

Did your grandparents say anything to the neighbors?
"Since I saw you walk him over on his leash, and then let him off leash at which time he pooped, I'm having a hard time coming up with any other explanation for this besides you brought him over here so that he could poop in my yard. I hope I'm wrong, but I also really don't want this to happen again."

She is lying. She took the dog over there to poop and didn’t want to clean it up. Unless your grass is long (and even so she is lying) you can't lose poop.
So we have a dog and apparently my neighborhood has a ton of people who don’t pick up after their dogs. The people have resorted to Facebook shaming posting videos taken with their ring doorbells. Anyway I was out one morning and my dog, who is usually good for one regular crap, took two. I only grabbed one poop bag. We ran home so fast after his second round so I could grab a new bag and I drive back to the scene to clean the poop. I was not about to be blasted all over Facebook 😂
Are you my neighbor? LOL We had a neighbor send out the video to the rest of the neighborhood. It kind of backfired on them because the person question in the video was definitely a minor so everybody's response was basically "this kid is definitely wrong, but you can't go around sending videos of a minor to email listservs". LOL They also put a sign in their front yard with a picture of the kid from the Ring doorbell and note that said "Did you forget to bring one of these?!" and there was a poop bag attached. It was drama and they were fairly new to the neighborhood at the time.
Anyway--every time I walk by I wave my poop bag at their ring.
I really hate that a few shitty people ruin it for everyone. I'm a responsible dog walker who not only picks up after my dog, but I generally pick up trash and stuff on my walks too. I hate that we're all lumped into the same group though. At least in my neighborhood.
/End rant
I practically wave my poop bag around for all to see 😂
And my 10 almost 11 year old notoriously forgets the poop bags. I literally run after him screaming that he forgot the bags. Definitely don’t need my kid blasted too, and my nutter neighbors wouldn’t care that’s he’s only 10.
I mean - I take my dog out at least daily and never do I see an errant poop. But you’d think reading Facebook we are facing an epidemic. Then people lose their minds if people let their dogs pee or poop (and even pick it up!) on the sliver of grass between the sidewalk and the street, which is actually owned by the village (though maintained by the property owner). Come on.

Did your grandparents say anything to the neighbors?
I was a kid so I can’t remember all the details, but I think they did. They were super nice about it, but I remember everyone thought it was so odd. They didn’t do it again so I guess my grandparents must’ve said something.
I wish I had a more exciting update for you. She responded to apologize and said she'd come look for it. I waited a long time and went out after dinner to see it was still there, so I took care of it myself. I don't want it sitting there for days, and I'm not going to explain via text where to find dog poop on my lawn.
And then it took until 10 to get DD2 to sleep.
I still plan to speak with her. I reread her text, and she implied the dog came over earlier, and she came over after that (when I saw her with the dog, apparently) to look for whatever the dog might have done. I saw her let the dog off its leash, which really makes me think he pooped during THAT visit, but there's a chance that's not what happened. I didn't see him squat and poop; they walked behind the shed just after she took off his leash. For all I know, she let him off to see if he'd sniff out the poop he'd done earlier (when I didn't see him in the yard) so she could pick it up. Likely? No. But since I didn't see it happen, it's not worth it for me to go at her with guns blazing.
Whatever happened, not a good look.
I plan to bring it up casually and hear what she has to say about the whole thing since her text wasn't clear. Given that she texted me before I even said anything, I'm pretty sure she'll be eager to explain herself when I approach her. Depending on what I hear, I'll respond accordingly. And then I'll reiterate we don't want anyone in the backyard.

I still would have delivered the poop to her steps or door. And her story is ridiculous. i would still look into an fence option since it seems they have not respected what you have already told them.
Ooooh. That does kind of explain why she was walking around in circles in your yard.
It does not explain why the dog was able to poop there in the first place though.
Does she normally let him out back into an unfenced yard or does she normally walk him on the street? Walking a dog in someone’s backyard is super odd. And you did say she normally picks up after him.
I’d be inclined to let this one go, but I’d be on alert for the future.
