Caden Richard was born Saturday night at 8:40 pm after a 28 hour induction.
I was admitted at 37w5d for an induction due to high blood pressure (not pre-eclampsia though).
I had been hoping and preparing for a pain-med free labor but with such an early induction that changed to just hoping to avoid a c-section. I labored for about 24 hours on my own from 4 pm Friday to 3 pm Saturday with 3 doses of Cytotec and then Pitocin but was vomiting the entire time (probably 10 or 12x) pretty violently for reasons we do not know (not usually a side affect of Cytotec and it started before the Pitocin). Ended up only 2 cm dilated by 3 pm Saturday (EEKS) and we were on a bit of a time crunch because my water had broken at 1 am on its own (from the Cytotec) and I had very early signs of a fever. I got the epidural around 4 pm and dilated 8 cm in less than 3 hours (this is NOT typical). I pushed for about an hour and he was out! Minimal tearing. I agreed to a small episiotomy right before my final push because the dr was worried I would tear in a couple different places if he didn’t cut one small lip. Ended up only needing one stitch.
Small complication afterwards - my placenta didn’t deliver at all. Dr tried to free it manually but they ended up taking me back to the operating room for removal. I was so glad at that point that I already had the epidural as they were able to just up that back up and give me a small dose of another drug vs. a putting me under full anesthesia. All was smooth from that point in and my husband got a full hour of skin to skin while I was at operating room, the my doula and my mom helped him latch as soon as I got back (I was pretty drugged up so they pretty had to hold him up to me to eat while I slept). But it worked and he’s eating like a champ now.
Recovery is going better than expected giving the fact that my dr was crawling around in my uterus for an hour.
As suspected, he was worth every injection, every dr apt, every dollar spent getting him here. His name means “Spirit of Battle” and it’s so fitting. We are obsessed!
Congratulations on your beautiful boy! I am glad you were able to accept the changes in your birth plan and got the vaginal birth you wanted.
If you don't have any EMAB, makes a new momma spray and balm that are fantastic to use after you go to the bathroom. I think the balm really helped my stitches heal the last 2 times.

Congratulations!!!!! I am crying from happiness for you! I was telling my h that all the injections and early morning train rides to the dr are so worth it! So happy for you! You are a rock star and I hope that you’re feeling well and you both get to go home tomorrow! Beautiful name with a beautiful meaning. ❤️
Congratulations!! I’m so glad he’s here and that you were able to roll with all of these hurdles (and oof- my placenta didn’t deliver fully and they manually removed it. NOT FUN. I’m sorry you had to go through that). You’re a rockstar!
Congratulations on your beautiful boy! He’s precious and you did an amazing job during that entire delivery process. I hope everything goes smoothly from here on out and you recover and are home soon!
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.
omg, I wish you had an easier time of it but CONGRATULATIONS MAMA! You're a champ. I hope you're recovering ok, getting plenty of support, and enjoying the newborn snuggles.

I find this is pretty common. The patient has been in pain and tense for so long. Take away the pain and she relaxes and lets her body do its job, then it does.
So excited for you, congratulations!!!! He's adorable!
I'm sorry about the retained placenta, that sucks. That happened to a friend of mine, twice.
