My parents have been married for 41 years and these are still their everyday dishes.
I registered for cute Rachel Ray dishes when we got married in 2006. They were heavy and chipped so bad in the first few years. I asked for Corelli dishes for my bday a few years ago and I will never turn back! They are indestructible. I’m kind of tired of the pattern I chose, I should have gotten plain white. But there’s nothing wrong with them.
I didn't register for everyday dishes since I already had a set when I got married. I bought them in 2001 when I started grad school. I still love them but have broken a few over then years and can't replace any since they were Linens 'n Things brand.
I've slowly started purchasing fiestaware to replace them.
mala Is this the pattern? Ex-H had this whole set from his mom. He took all of the dishes but left the cups when he moved out. I still use them! (Replaced the dishes with the Corelle Kyoto Nights pattern)
Fiestaware gets hot in the microwave but it’s super durable! I’m tired of the single color I picked but they have been our daily dishes since 2004. No chips or broken pieces. I think I’m going to replace it with all white fiestaware at some point.
I love fiesta ware. But we have some plates and bowls that are white and they are all scratched to hell. None of the other colors I have scratch. I could use bar keepers friend but I haven’t.
Mine are Colorwave from BBB. We got a dark charcoal with white. It’s been over ten years and the white is starting to get scratched and we’ve lost a couple bowls, but otherwise they’ve held up.
Corelle for plates but we have Fiestaware bowls because I like a thicker bowl. And some large noodle bowls like they have at ramen restaurants. I’d get round Corelle. Ours a square and oddly harder to clean.
I have broken a Corelle plate before and it ended up in shards and wasn’t too bad. I dropped it on cement when it broke, I’ve dropped them on the floor a billion times and it was fine.
All of you with plain white, non-Corelle dishes...are your plates and bowls all scraped from forks and knives. I had a pfaltzgraff set from our wedding in 2005, but got tired of the pattern. Three or four years ago I bought a plain white set from WalMart and now they have gray scratch marks all over them from silverware scraping against them. Is this just what white dishes do? Our old ones weren't like that.
We bought a set of Mikasa bone china on super sale 12 years ago. We have a qsmall chip in two out of sixteen plates. The only issue is that I now hate the pattern and it doesn’t match our kitchen at all. I really want to replace them but there is no compelling reason and we got 16 place settings. Ugh.
I’m sorry you hate your pattern but thank you for mentioning this.

I would love to get a set like that but DH is dedicated to rimmed soup bowls and they are in so few sets. New dishes are in the two year plan, after I get real furniture for this house.

I grew up with Correlle and had some when I first got married. We switched to Fiestaware in 2005 and I love it. We have a lot of colors and it makes me happy. I have broken a piece occassionally, but not many in 14 years and my kids have been using them since age 2.
One thought: We bought some large low bowls with our dish set and it was the best decision we ever made. Whatever you serve (stews, pasta, food with a sauce) stays on the plate even of you are rushing around and get bumped by a kid. I don't want to go back to regular dinner plates for regular meals. So much better.

I have white, Cafeware II from Crate and Barrel. It's plain but heavy. We have had for 20 years, and have 12 place settings. We've broken a few bowls (ahem, DD).

I had some stoneware that got both boiling in the microwave and all gray scratched.
I haven’t had those problems with Fiesta and they haven’t chipped.
I also have C&B Staccato (white). They don’t get hot in the microwave or get gray marks, but some have chipped on the underside of the plate rims. The edges are thin/tapered. No problems with the bowls.

We have this exact set. We registered for Villeroy and Bach and afternoon 15 years they were beat and broken. I LOVE this set that we picked to replace them.

Try bar keepers friend on them. I’ve read it gets rid of those marks. Worth a try.
We got the Noritake Colorwave about 14 years ago when we were getting married. It has held up ok, with some chips and scratches. I compromised with H at the time and never loved the color so finally replaced it last year with white Pillivuyt Perle from Williams Sonoma when they had a sale. It is heavier, doesn’t get as warm with hot food on it and so far I love it.
I didn’t think I was familiar with Corelle but the pics of the dishes with the gold flower border were absolutely ones my grandmother had when I was growing so it is awesome to see pics of them again!
We have had these from Williams Sonoma since we registered over 15 years ago! We've had to buy a few more coffee mugs, but the set is still going strong. It's not too heavy and if you drop it it breaks into a few pieces (usually). I guess it gets hot in the microwave, but I didn't realize there were plates that didn't?! My aunt gave me this special potholder you put in the microwave under your plate/bowl and I use that to pull it out.

No, mine (C&B essential) are porcelain. My pfaltzgraff (it was a pale green) was stoneware & had that issue. I think it might be more material vs color bc I got some cheap white stoneware little bowls & there’s grey marks from spoons
We have Mikasa Italian Countryside. They aren't my style now but we've had them for almost 14 years and not a single piece has broken. One plate has a small chip on the bottom of the rim. They are porcelain. No marks. I can't justify replacing them and they are a creamy white, so they are fine. Some of the matching serving pieces are not made of porcelain and don't hold up as well but it's not a huge deal since they are pieces I only pull out occasionally.
I love Corelle! My parents have it and everything withstood 5 kids besides a few bowls. When I got married that's what we registered for. Ten years later they're still going strong and look great!
We have a basic white set from C&B we registered for 16 years ago and it's still going strong. A chip or two on one of the serving bowls but I don't think we've broken any (knock on wood). I got Fiestaware (8 dinner plates) and a set of 8 smaller dog dishes from Anthro last year to add some color.

We have a stoneware set we got for our wedding nine years ago. I don't really like the design/colors, and a lot of the dishes have chipped. The other night I was washing a mug in the sink and the handle just popped off! Plus, the dishes are so big! We end up using the salad plates and bowls way more than we use the dinner plates.
