What are some gifts you are getting your kids this year, and how old are they?
This post is brought to you by not feeling at all inspired about what to get the kids and wanting to steal other people’s ideas.
So far for DS1 (4YO), I know I want to get: -A kids’ cooking set (like real knives he can use and maybe a subscription to Radish) -An iTunes gift card for some new games for his iPad (weird for a 4YO, but he will be thrilled) -The Wizard of Oz PJs from Hanna Andersson (he is obsessed with the movie and was Tin Man for Halloween)
For DS2 (2YO), I have: -Fisher Price food truck -Cash register -Matching Wizard of Oz PJs
We are getting DD (2.5) the ikea easel, dress up clothes, and stamps. She will get a ton of stuff from other family, so we try to keep it simple from us.
DS1 (4) is getting a set mini Cars cars from Santa, a bike (he's ready to move on from the Strider), bath bombs and color tablets, a Boon pipes set for the bathtub, a Color Magic coloring book and markets, a Lego mini set (Toy Story). I put the following on his Christmas list for family: various board games, restaurant gift cards (he loves going out to eat), various books, a Green Toys boat for the bath, Osmo Little Genius Starter Kit, kinetic sand, and a snow sled
DS2 (2) is getting Brio tracks from Santa, a book, all the same bath stuff, coloring book, and mini Lego set (a car and excavator), and the same kinds of things on his list for family.
They are also getting Spot It Jr. as a joint gift and MIL is getting them a Power Wheels Jeep. I got them some HA pajamas to open on Christmas Eve.
I think a set of knives is a great idea and I've had the same thought for DS1. He's responsible enough to start doing stuff like that and I'm sure he would love a subscription like Radish. He loves to cook and bake with me.
On my list: an easel, a play kitchen or the toy food truck, more books, clothes.
I just ordered her a Melissa & Doug shoe tying toy. She keeps grabbing our shoes from the hallway and messing around with them so I hope this will keep her occupied for now.
My mom said she got her a Radio Flyer wagon. My sister and aunt usually get her stuff as well.

DD1 (8): Digital camera, caboodle filled with jewelry/hair accessories, oil pastels and sketchbook, ballet gear, gift cards, and a couple of experiences (tickets to the ballet, a session at a local art studio)
DS1 (turning 6 in Dec): Youth basketball hoop, LEGO and Playmobil, walkie talkies, lights for his bike, bike gloves
We bought my 2 year old boys a Stack & Spin gear set, and the LeapFrog ABC Smart House. Their stockings have bath stuff, wooden robots, dry erase boards, a few Moonlite story reels, and some Toy Story 4 figurines. I’ll pick up some jammies and a book each at some point as well.
They also got some outdoor snow toys (shovels, coloured snow spray and a giant inflatable snow fort) and an indoor trampoline from my family.
krystee they have the food truck and they love it!! It’s so cute.
ETA - I got my 6YO nephew a Bloco dinosaur building set and my 9YO niece the Disney Villanous board game.
DD (8, turning 9 next week) is getting a Hydroflask, Harry Potter Legos, film for her camera, and a few AG accessories for her birthday. Christmas I’m thinking a caboodle filled with hair and nail accessories, nicer art supplies, a volleyball, a Switch game, and a few more AG things.
I’m torn on the AG stuff. She doesn’t play with it much but she still really wants to add to her collection. AG is 75% of her list. We will see.
LEGO stuff Walkie Talkies (I may live to regret that, but he really wants them) STEM kits Puzzles Movie Theater gift cards Some kind of experience gift — maybe tickets to our local minor league hockey team, or Monster Jam, or whatever. Books
We are trying to get away from toys because he has SO MANY...
DS (2 in January) is getting lots of puzzles, a shape sorting cube (he's got a bucket but is ready for more complicated shapes), a doctor kit, a folding slide and a balance bike, plus some PJs and summer clothes.
I bought DS (2.5) the Hess tow truck set. He loves tow trucks, so he will be thrilled. The Hess trucks seem really good quality. He has played with them in various playgrounds/play groups.
I hate stuff, so I don’t plan on buying him any other toys. He will get enough from my family. We will also get him swim classes and candy. Both things he loves =)
I was just talking about this with DH. We have 3 yo and 1 yo DDs. What I think we should get is-
Joint gift of a two sided teeter totter (the one that flips over to be steps).
For DD1 maybe some dress up clothes (isn’t there a specific brand recommended on here?), big puzzles, and... idk what else? We’ll be getting tons of crap from family so I don’t want to go nuts.
DD2 will get very little. Maybe some books and 1 or 2 small toys.
ETA I have a ton of other stuff on both their lists- magnatiles, board games, camera for DD1, but I’m letting family pick from those.
I’ll also probably ask for or get pajamas for both, socks, and I also got a frozen coloring book and thermos already for DD1s stocking.

Both are getting snowboarding lessons and a sports bag for their gear (baseball and lacrosse).
DS1 (10)- a new taekwondo uniform, some books, and??? People are asking for ideas and he just doesn't need anything.
DS2 (soon to be 8) has a December birthday - sports tights/leggings so he can wear shorts in winter, some books, and ? All of his wants are not appropriate (phone, dirt bike, etc)
Edit - DS2 might like a beanbag chair for his room. I'm hesitant because I think most are filled with styrofoam, so I'm looking for an alternative.
I buy a ton b/c we have Dec/Jan bdays and I also buy for the grandparents (they pay me back). Here are some things I am thinking of or have already so far. I want the kids to refine their lists with me this week so that I have it more set going into Black Friday.
abs , my daughter still wants tons of AG and she is almost 11! Except now, she also wants all kinds of expensive vintage sets from eBay for her collection. Eek.
DD (almost 11): Terri Libenson books set, craft kids that she can do with friends, maybe a karaoke machine?, insists she wants an AG doll (maybe Kaya). Vintage AG sets, mostly for Kit. Rainbow loom bands, gold earrings (she seems to only be able to wear gold). Maybe a sleeping bag? Playmobil or Lego? She also wants some small fidget type things like a Rubik's cube, "really good slime," stress ball.
DS (almost 9): Harry Potter Illustrated first three books, Percy Jackson books, HP Advent Calendar (Bday), bunch of HP Lego sets, Playmobil castle set
DD (almost 7): Book set about little animals and a couple other books, really wants Playmobil deluxe dollhouse with light kits, stairway, and several rooms; Wellie Wisher bunny set with hutch, WW washtub set. SAYS she wants an old AG doll that has her name but I am not sure about that, some other AG items, Barbie, Lego Friends dolphin & turtle rescue sets, Lego Friends Advent Calendar (bday).
DD (almost 5): I will get her a book/books also. BARBIE DREAM HOUSE. She's been talking about it for months. I haven't seen any deals on it yet. Elsa toddler doll (has Anna). Frozen II figurines. Barbie convertible. Barbie other items. Also wants toy dragons, Barbie mermaid that you can draw on, and this princess suitcase thingy from Target. Wants makeup or play vanity. Playmobil horse set. She is super easy and likes nearly every single thing in the Disney aisle and Barbie aisles at Target. Piggy bank.
WW Jeep for both little girls. small Hatchimal habitat.
I'm struggling to come up with much for my 6 and 2 year old. Most of the 6 yo's Christmas list are items that we will not be buying him (ride on motorcycle, Nerf gun, Nintendo Switch, Ryan's World toys). I have gotten him some Pokemon cards and am looking at various Marvel costumes, both of which are on the list, but I'm struggling with what else I can add. With the 2 year old I just have toy fatigue. We have so many toys. I'm thinking of getting both boys (6 and 2) remote control cars because they're starting to fight over toys and maybe some more art supplies.
DD2 (2.75) - Doc McStuffins puzzle and bath toys, squigz sucker toys, a set of dinosaurs, books, joules slippers
I want to do one more joint “santa” gift. I wanted to get them a frozen castle from the Disney store but MIL already bought them a different castle. She offered to return hers but I can’t decide if I want her to. She’s also bought them an art easel. Should I ask her to return?
I also want to get them each a jellycat stuffed animal for their stockings.
DD (almost 4) is getting: -Games and puzzles -Imaginary play stuff - A bike for her January birthday (ready to move on from the balance bike) - A sparkly gymnastics leotard -A new quilt for her big girl bed
DS1 is 12 - he is getting an Apple Watch, air pods, a clock radio, some fuzzy blanket and pillow stuff (he’s obsessed with fleece/soft blankets), and gift cards (Vans, Starbucks, Amazon etc)
DS2 is 7 - his big gift is a Switch and Yoshis crafted world. He’s also getting various Legos, Harry Potter stuff, a watch, and some scooby doo stuff.
Is this where I admit I have no idea? Ds2 turns 4 in two weeks and then Xmas. Guess I should figure it out lol.
In seriousness, ds2 is obsessed with toy story so he’s getting toys from toy story 4 and a couple of easier toy story LEGO sets.
Ds1 has a really random list for Xmas so I don’t know. He went through the amazon catalog and marked 70% of it so maybe I’ll pick something from there.
OMG it's so much, please don't judge me. My mom went overboard b/c she just wants to shower all of us with gifts which is her love language and she's still struggling.
E is 6.5, from us: -My Little Pony Set from Costco -Mermaid fin for pool -Lego Friends Amusement Park -Frozen 2 Olaf Lego -Books -Wonder Woman PJs, Frozen Shirt, R2D2 shirt (HA Sale) -Lite Brite - DH couldn't resist -Remote car -Rainbow loom

I’m pretty sure my 3 year old is going to ask Santa for the huge Paw Patrol fire truck. It’s massive and I think he’d play with the paw patroller more, but I picked up the fire truck from targets pre-black Friday sale (I would have a really hard time paying full price for that thing). I also got the Pj masks little car sets from the same sale. I got him a couple board games (he’s loving candyland right now) and more practical things like character pajamas, a beach towel and art supplies. I got some Disney store stuff on sale a couple months ago including a Mickey train conductor dress up set. He’s done and I really didn’t spend that much. He also loves toy story so grandma will probably get him woody and buzz dolls.
My 8 year old isn’t into toys as much anymore and he’s never been into crafty stuff. He just opened up some legs sets from his bday a few months ago. He’s been saving his allowance for the new Pokémon switch games but I’m trying to convince him to not buy anything before Christmas. I got him the 3 pack of metal tin Pokémon cards from Costco and a Pokémon pajama onesie. I’ll probably get him some board games like Battleship, books and some little LEGO sets. I got him a Beyblades set from the target sale. He likes science experiment sets, magic trick sets and gemstone dig type kits. My 3 year old is so easy this year because he loves all the cartoon characters, but my 8 year old is tougher and the things he likes are more $$$.
3 year old- Paw Patrol tower and some mighty pups toys
Joint gift: the Nugget comfort couch thingy
I have been wanting to get the Nugget couch! I am just so afraid they won’t use it and then I’ll be deeply bitter over an unused $200 set of cushions. LOL. I think DS2 would use it a ton, though. Are you getting one or two? I want two, but I don’t think I can spend that much at Christmas with all our other expenses. I am thinking about getting it for each of their birthdays in 2020.
ETA: I just went to the site and they are completely out of stock!

I’m very pleased with my list because a few weeks ago it had everything in it for DS1 and I couldn’t come up with anything for DS2. I think it’s oretty equal now, and also things DS2 will be excited about. It’s a lot because they don’t really get gifts from others.
DS1 (turns 6 two weeks after Xmas) Pokémon cards Pokémon stuffed animals Lego set UA clothes playmobil aquarium set and extra animals (from grandpa) Who would win books (the rest of the set that we don’t have) Bike - this is his $$$ big gift but he is not asking for it. I’m the one who wants him to have it so I feel bad “counting” it.
DS2(3) Micro mini scooter Wooden toy garage/parking deck Battat toys critter clinic Lego jr set Marshallpaw patrol fire truck (that giant one) — from grandpa e-reader book set
both- Quadrilla marble run lots of games botley coding robot
