I have nothing for my dad. He hates technology. Doesn't like gadgets. Doesn't care about shaving or beer or meat clubs. He likes to golf and watch tv. HELP
My dad got an Aggie/Astros shirt (limited edition Aggie shirt with Astros colors). He loves both teams and raised me as a fan of both. I got the shirt for myself too.
My stepdad got slippers, and a funny tshirt for him to wear while boating (but the shirt won't be in for another couple weeks, ugh). He's the hardest person to shop for.
FIL, my H is taking care of. I'm not sure what we got him.
For you, what about a golf puzzle? My dad likes to do puzzles in front of the tv. And puzzles help keep the mind sharp.
I mostly get picture/Shutterfly type presents for my dad at the moment (he's in a memory care facility).
When he was active and able to get out - we did experience gifts. Tickets to a show. Tickets to the Bruins - maybe something golf related? There's a CVS charity classic tournament every summer down my area. DH mentioned something TPC Boston in the fall if your dad is closer your way.
Pay for a 4-some for a golf course he'd like to play? Or a gift certificate/nice pull over for the pro shop?

Thanks for all the ideas! I asked him today what he wants and he said he'll "get back to me tonight" so we'll see if he's got any other thoughts, otherwise I think I'll look for tickets and maybe golf magazine!

Tickets to see one of his favorite bands, a framed photo w/him and his grandkids, a calendar of his grandkids (other years I do a GC to his fav restaurant or nice bourbon).
Like many dads he's practical and generally doesn't like receiving clothes or much else besides the above.
I don’t buy for my dad any more because thankfully we stopped exchanging adult gifts on my side of the family. For FIL we always buy wine. A wine club membership of some sort. I think I also did Wolferman’s English muffins one year.
My mom, sister, and I are all chipping in to get him one of those half-day Ferrari racing experiences. It’s like $400, mom is paying half and sis and I each paying $100. This is slightly more than we would otherwise pay separately for gifts, but I think it’s worth it.
Last year we got him the Ember travel mug (electric mug that keeps his coffee at the perfect pre-set temp) and a selection of fun coffees.
Would your dad be into experiences? Like concert tickets, or tickets to see his favorite sports team? A gift card to Top Golf?
the opposite of you--I got my dad all tech stuff, despite my dad being terrible with technology. I got him an echo and a fire stick. Mostly I got him an echo because he is in poor health and I want him to be able to shout to Alexa to call me or 911 or what have you.

We did this one year too, and it worked out really well! My dad was never interested in tech stuff but we got him an ipod/itunes gift cards, echo dot, and he loves it! He would have never gotten it for himself or known what it was otherwise.
We also got my mom a Sirius xm subscription (and pay for it monthly) and her and my dad love it.
Nothing. My dad lives part time in Tokyo and part time in Hawaii. I never know where he is at any given time so he gets a Merry Christmas text.
I got my step dad a gift card to his favorite restaurant (which will also be a gift to my mom but whatever) and a gift card to Lowe's. He loves to tinker with cars and trains so usually I get him something related to that but this year he is recovering from major surgery so it was much harder.

My dad is getting new bumpers to fit his new boat. Lol
FIL is getting an ifly visit with H, MIL, BIL, SIL, and niece and nephew and then dinner out. We are splitting his (and maybe mil) ticket with bil and SIL.

I always buy him a new flannel work shirt.
He's a farmer.
I make him a wall calendar with family pictures (he's 81, and after 6 years of doing it, I finally have the font big enough for him) and I usually frame a family photo from that year for him.
If a new book about war or a president has come out, he's getting that, too, lol. My dad is definitely a dad.
My dad is going to go to Japan next year-he hasn't booked anything yet so I was thinking about getting him some travel guides or books...any recs on what to get??

My dad and my FIL are both beyond hard to buy for.
My siblings and I got my dad 2 books that we think he will like, some Rubbermaid containers (he often uses old cool whip containers to keep food in the fridge...), and an insulated casserole carrier for the one time per year that he brings lasagna to my aunt’s house for Christmas Eve. Lol.
My FIL is getting a Carhartt vest to throw on when he runs out for the mail. This was after DH called his mom and asked for suggestions.

I also checked out a few books about Japan from the library because we are also going next year. I have these 2 checked out currently, both seem good, I also like Fodor’s.

I forgot that my parents just bought a pontoon boat, so I'm going to look into accessories for that (maybe a couple of fishing rod holders) and I could probably renew his fishing license
I’m trying to find a cover for the bucket seat of his truck that reduces friction for when he gets into and out of the truck. Whatever the hell that might be. Wish me luck. (Anyone have any ideas?)
