Well, I question the human decency of people who support lying to women to coerce them into not getting an abortion and often dooming them to lives of poverty because they have "feelings" about other people's lives and don't think fully grown women are capable of making their own decisions or are as important as fetuses.

I would have a really hard time not posting "would you all be ok with us choosing to help women going to PP for support who need it as well?"
I thought about it, but a few said that even though they "disagreed" with the org's mission, they figured they would "offset" that with a donation to PP, so the point would be missed.
"We’re arguing about helping single mothers. Think about that. Religion has nothing to do with doing what’s right. My daughter will only understand the message of helping these mothers and nothing further than that. Because, being a decent human is the only thing that matters. It would make me feel more uncomfortable if my daughters school felt uncomfortable coordinating this because they read a bible. I would question their human decency."
At this point, I'm starting to feel my depression creeping in. Like I should have just kept my mouth shut.
They’re not being picked on because they read the Bible; you’re pointing out that it’s problematic that they’re essentially being FORCED to read the Bible in order to keep themselves and their families alive.
I’m no longer religious, but it enrages and offends me when religion is used as a political or manipulation tool.

Sorry they're all terrible, RHB. I would be so tempted to go into full "LISTEN HERE, LADY" mode, but like you I'd also be full of self-doubt. You were right to speak up, and there are definitely parents nodding along to your words!

Which is why we all disagree with their tactics, but even for people who support the org, it's a blatant violation of how public schools are supposed to behave.

Fuck them.
QFT, once more for the righteously indignant Karens (and their d-bag husbands) redheadbaker, you should copy this exact text and post THAT in the Facebook comments.
::ok, don't really do that, but you get my point::
Guess what Karen and Biff? Don't believe in abortion?? DON'T F-ING HAVE ONE. Life is so much simpler when you're not dictating the lives of the perceived "morally bankrupt". You don't have to have your captive-audience KIDS donating to a religious cause that furthers the above-mentioned (abhorrent) "goal".
RHB, get outta here w/ feeling bad--YOU DID THE RIGHT THING. Doing the right thing is hard sometimes, mostly because of the contingent of assholes in the world, again, that think they can tell other people what to do with their lives, their bodies, their families, etc.
I do want to add that I am trying to put together a Penny Wars fundraiser for our NJHS/SCA at my school. Somebody upthread mentioned that a fundraiser shouldn't be competitive for something that involves money, and now I am really rethinking about how I can structure the fundraiser (the original idea is to donate pennies into 2 canisters, competitive by lunch period). So thank you to whomever said that, I am grateful for the perspective.

We’ve run into this at our school, after someone rightfully pointed out how it basically rewards kids for being from families able to give. My proposal was we that we do some sort of ticket system that rewards participation - turning in the slip, this was a reading fundraiser so you’d get a ticket for each night you read, etc. Then do a drawing for the prizes, and it might not be perfect, but it’s a fairer shot. Unfortunately, I was overruled, so I can’t tell you how it worked out in practice.
These people don’t get it. It’s not just about helping single moms. It’s about the strings attached to the help that people have issues with. If you want to give a mom some diapers for her child, just give her the diapers...the Bible study is an agenda.
You’re completely in the right. I’m sorry people are being such douchebags.

The other room mom who PMed me and said she hadn't heard of the org but was now against it has PMed me again, apologizing that others were blaming me when she was the one who emailed our prinicipal to stop the fundraiser. Apparently Douchebag Husband is a known troll in the group, and she just doesn't engage with him for her own mental health. She said I could say it was her, but I won't do that.
She also said that there are far more parents who agree with me but won't speak up because of him.

I’m so glad she reached out to you. Knowing the background makes it far easier to ignore his bullshit, or at least it would to me. He’s a known blowhard that the parent community ignores.
