This is such a bizarre case with so so many people who have died! And it baffles me that the police were not involved earlier. How did this all go on so long?
Here is the most thorough/easy to understand story I can find that fully explains the situation up until the present:

That is crazy. I saw a story about "Mom told to provide children" but never clicked on it. Those poor kids and their poor family members that are missing them and want to know what happened and where they are.
The whole situation is insane. It does sound like she created some type of death cult and that many relatives appear to have been murdered. I don’t think the children are still alive, so sad for the remaining family and friends.

This case fascinates and horrifies me. I can’t see these children being in a good situation. I thought this was another good article. It’s so confusing.
I can’t stop thinking about this. The timeline says she “missed the deadline” like it’s homework or something. Why is she still walking free? Would a black or Muslim immigrant mother still be walking around free? This will be just like Casey Anthony.
There isn’t going to be a good outcome to this case. Those poor kids. I think the deaths have far less to do with some doomsday cult and more about two sociopaths wanting to be together free of any entanglements.
Bizarre doesn’t even begin to describe this situation. The fact that events started back in July...everything will wind up being related in the end. Those poor kids and extended family.
Because apparently there is no evidence to use to hold them. All they can charge them with so far is contempt of court which is not enough to extradite them back to Idaho.

I dont understand why there is not enough evidence. My kid goes missing. I say I gave them to people and dont name the people. Isnt that enough to charge me with something? Neglect? Abandonment? I do not understand

I do not either. I find this whole thing just unbelievable.
This is the shoddiest police work I have ever seen. Come on guys! There are like a million murders here and they're all unresolved. Arrest Lori and Chad. And maybe Melani Boudreaux too since she seems to be in on the cult too. This is so fucked up.
Tylee’s cell phone was found in Hawaii. Has been used several times since her disappearance but it’s not clear who has used it. Also, Tylee’s aun’t speaks out for the first time and has some shit to say.

This website is run by the same Aunt you mentioned above (Annie Cushing). Apparantly her career involves making data "sexy" (LOL her words, not mine) and she made this site around this:

Its really hard to prove a homicide without a body and the evidence behind that part of the investigation. In many states, there are not laws that would cover this particular situation since the kids are not around to fill in any blanks about what has been going on.
Look at the Kaylee Anthony case, for example. They had her body, a ton of circumstantial evidence and the jury still did not convict Casey Anthony of murder and of just lying to the police. This stuff is not cut and dry.
Yeah, but she violated the court order to produce her children. They can at least arrest her for that. It is so frustrating. I read they recently found the kids stuff in storage and the mom had the daughter's cell phone despite the daughter allegedly texting her friends.
ETA: also how is it not to a crime to report your children missing? I guess I assumed that would be a crime.

It is contempt of court that she didn’t produce the kids but because she is in Hawaii and not Idaho, it is not a serious enough offense to extradite her. I linked the article about that above.
It is completely bonkers that your kids can just go missing and that there is nothing law enforcement can do to you unless they find a body. I agree that at the very least, it should be something like neglect if minors that you are in charge of are suddenly gone and you did nothing to prevent or report it.
I am sure these kids are dead, unless by some miracle the 17 year old took responsibility for the younger kid and they are hiding out somewhere? Otherwise I would think whatever adult has them would have done something by now? They surely were not kidnapped or else it would have been reported, so if they were left with a friend or family member you'd think they would have come forward. Unless they too are part of some cult, maybe?
