My 3 year old who has not woken up MOTN in over 2 years woke me up screaming and crying hysterically at 2 am because his book was caught in his sheets (he insists on sleeping with multiple books in his bed). WTF, kid? It scared the SHIT out of me and it took me a while to fall back asleep. I thought something was seriously wrong.
Also--in regards to correcting speech mentioned above my H and I always use the words DS uses. For example, he says "yike" instead of like and we'll randomly be in the kitchen and one of us will say something like "Ohh--I don't want pasta tonight. I don't yike it." LOL. We probably need to stop this ASAP before he develops a complex.
C has some pretty cute words, and we definitely dont always correct them like my my for mine. But my favorite is Wywo for Wyatt. Needless to say the dog is getting a name change
dreamcrisp1 I'm sorry, that's heartbreaking I hope the ped is able to do it more easily
H is taking DD to the doctor for some weird rash/spots that are popping up. I'm glad it's him taking her and not me because I feel like an overreacting mom if it turns out to be nothing 😬 but I really hope it's nothing!
We had a paediatrician appt today (peds is not the norm here but we have been referred because of our issues). After seeing her, she sent us for blood testing and we have to get a urine and stool sample. But for the blood tests they clearly were not used to such little babies. They tried 2 different spots to get blood in his arm and could not get enough. It was horrible to watch. My heart was breaking. So I have to go back on Friday and the paediatrician will take the blood using an iv method or something? Blah.
My poor boy. I just hate this all so much. And his eczema is just not healing despite tomorrow being the last day on the antibiotics. So I need to email the dermatologist because idk what else to do. All of this just sucks so much. I really wish everything would settle and start looking up for us.
DS2 had to get blood drawn twice this winter. They couldn't get the needle in at the clinic so I had to take him to the hospital. It was so hard to watch them hold him down screaming. BUT the tech at the hospital for us was amazing. Super fast and got it on the first try. I hope things go smoothly for you and your little guy tomorrow.

I’m sorry about that dreamcrisp1. That sounds awful.
My random is I’m going through a major stressful situation right now and feel really lonely. I had a huge long post typed out, then deleted it because the internet never forgets. I have a therapy appt next week, I’m hoping it helps.
DD is 11 months, so I'm thinking weaning from pumping in the next couple of weeks. I can't start too early since my freezer stash will currently only cover ~4 days. At work I pump 3 times: 8am, 1130am, 230pm. Which pump would you drop? I'm thinking of combining the first 2 into 1 pump at 10 or 1030, but I dunno.

My DD uses "scrumbled up" when something is all messed up. DH and I have started using it as if it's a real word....I feel like such an idiot when I say it in front of other people

dreamcrisp1 watching your little have blood drawn is the worst. We had to go in when L was 1 month and we walked out because the guy doing it was doing a terrible job. And it was at a pediatric lab it luckily wasnt urgent since it was to confirm a diagnosis from my NIPT results. I finally took him at 4 months and it was a different person who actually knew what she was doing and it was much less traumatic to watch. I hope you guys can figure out what's causing his issues!

pandorica the 2 morning sessions are the ones I'd combine as well although I have no experience other than I go back and forth between 1 to 2 morning sessions with only a couple ounces of variance in milk output. But my supply isn't the greatest, so I should probably commit 100% to that second session haha.
This is a dumb question, but DD (8 months) is showing interest in a sippy cup (she took DS's 360 and starting drinking from it). I can introduce one to her now, right? What do I put in it? Just water?

I've been doing water just to get her used to drinking out of it, I just don't let her have too much. If she was drinking bottles at home I would put breast milk in it but she very rarely has pumped milk outside of daycare.

Yes - just water. We introduced a sippy of water when we started solids but it took her a few months to get good at it.

Same. We started with a straw cup, then one with a spout, then a 360.

At what point do you keep your baby home from daycare? L woke up with a cough, but hasn't run a fever or anything. Its likely a cold. I dont want to be that parent and take a contagious kid to daycare, but I have so much work to do it would be really bad timing to take off.
Also, at what point do you take them to the dr for the same?

I don't keep them home for just a cough because coughs can last weeks. DD gets a cough 2 or 3 times a season but never any other symptoms. I'd wait it out unless it sounds like it's getting worse or they are having a hard time breathing.

I would still do daycare if there's no fever and baby's eating/playing ok.
I take DD to the dr if the cough sounds chesty or if she loses interest in food/playing.

We don't stay home from daycare or go to the pedi for a cough/runny nose. If I did I wouldn't work from Thanksgiving to Easter. There's nothing the pedi can do anyway, they just have to fight it off and build up the immunity. They just seem super sad about it because they are too little to take decongestants and all the meds we (well when not BFing) can take to ease the symptoms.

If there’s no fever and the baby is acting fine we go in. However, if we stayed home for a fever and it broke, I try to stay home an extra day or two to let him get better just because a fever is gone he isn’t always feeling back to his normal self.

Thank you all. Today was much better. Our paediatrician is also a neonatologist so used to small babies. She was able to get blood easily. She’s testing for everything and we scheduled an echo of his abdomen. I also got some new prescriptions for his eczema which is helpful.
An aside: I am dying from anxiety and need to see my therapist but I can’t because I have so many baby appts that I can’t find time to schedule my therapist appt. Oh the irony.

How did everything turn out?
The doctor prescribed antibiotics (her first!) so I'm glad we took her in. Probably should have taken her in earlier, but hindsight. It's so hard to walk the line of knowing when to take them in!
I'm glad your ped did better! I'm sorry to hear about your anxiety though, I hope you're able to schedule an appointment for yourself soon.
MH has a fish tank in his classroom, and mentioned a while back that he wanted one for our house. When he asked what I thought I said I’d prefer not because I don’t want another living thing to take care of (in addition to toddler DD we have three cats).
He found someone selling a fish tank and two fish for cheap, so he brought it home and is setting it up in our finished basement. He swears he won’t Ask me to do anything for it. Which is probably BS because I always manage to get roped into his little projects, either that or they just wind up getting in my way (like the tiny compost bin on our kitchen counter that I usually end up emptying). And I can’t just ignore this project because they’re living things and I’m obviously not going to let them die.
Bah. I just know I’m going to lose my shit the first time he announces that he wants my help to clean the tank or something.

My poor baby is completely stuffed up, breathing through his nose. Besides a steamy bathroom, what else can I do for him? Suctioning isn’t getting anything out and he isn’t eating because he is so congested. The dr said just keep giving him milk, but he seriously can’t suck. I fed him through a dropper but he didn’t get much and he screams.
