I have been planning to bring the kids during DD’s spring break next month. In my mind I am being very breezy and want to still go but the constant panic on the news has given me slight pause. I work in healthcare and take the usual precautions for infection control which really boils downs to washing your hands and keeping things clean. I’m reading about lots of people canceling international trips and cruises. But this is domestic travel. Except for the kids being kids, none of us are immunocompromised. What do you all think? Are you postponing a trip to Disney Word in light of the news?
We are still planning to take our short trip at the end of April unless the parks close or one of us is sick. Our hotel reservation is refundable until 48 house before check-in and we're planning to drive, so the only money we'd be out if we have to cancel is potentially for our tickets. I need to check those to see what the refund policy is on military tickets purchased on base just in case we can't go.
I don't know how you can decide at this point. I feel like so much can change week to week. If things stay at this level, I would go. If they really escalate, who knows if Disney will even be open. If we had a trip planned, the uncertainty would make me crazy, so I feel for you. My parents are supposed to go to FL (not Disney) in early April, and they aren't sure what will happen. They were meeting my brother & SIL and family while she would be at a conference...so her conference might not even happen now.
My brother is at Disney right now and they have been planning for years. I am so glad they went this week.

We also have a trip planned for April. I think it’s important to have perspective — most healthy people will get a mild form of the virus even if they do get sick.
My only concern is that we’re supposed to fly from the park to my parents, neither of whom is in great health. If it were just us, I would KOKO. As it stands now, we’re planning to go but keeping an eye on it.
nsl , I wish we lived in driving distance! We have to fly so I could either shell out an extra $300 total for refundable tickets for the 3 of us or just roll the dice and lose all my money if I wind up having to cancel for an actual public health emergency in Orlando. Like the stock market at this point LOL. I think I can cancel my hotels, I'm not too worried about those.
Scout'sHonor , Southwest left our airport last summer. Otherwise they would have definitely been my first choice to fly.
nicolewi ,I feel like if Disney actually shuts down as we get closer to the date, then the trip was not meant to be.
goldengirlz , good point. The weather will be getting warmer and DD and DS will hopefully have all the school/daycare winter germs out of their systems by then.

We just canceled our spring break CA/Disneyland trip. I’m bummed but my husband’s medication is immunosuppressive so he could be in the 2% who would get very sick. Also his anxiety over it is huge and I don’t want to spend a lot of money on a trip he is going to be miserable on.
For now we rescheduled for June but who knows, it could be a lot worse by then and we may need to cancel again. Thankfully it’s easy to cancel on Southwest, I only book hotels that can be canceled, and don’t buy Disney tickets until just before (I do get Disney gift cards in advance though, but they can be used whenever).
We are still planning our June Disneyland trip. The hotel is refundable until 2 days out. I’m not worried about buying tickets until we are almost ready to leave since they don’t have the 60 day out FP like WDW does.

If this is what it will take to get people to stop bringing their unvaccinated newborns to the park, I am all for it. Panic and stay away from Disney. Sounds cold and callous but we have had measles and legionnaires outbreaks at Disneyland in the past few years and people are still bringing in tiny babies with fragile immune systems.
I've got no plans to cancel any trips and I currently have 12 nights booked at the Grand Californian for 3 separate trips this year. I'm not changing my plans unless the government restricts the free movement of people.
Ugh. I have no disney trips planned, but we’re going to Costa Rica next week and I’m freaked out about it. (Not about CR specifically at all, but about being in a major airport, and what if we get sick while we’re gone, and what if travel restrictions come up, etc.). And of course my daughter started a cold today, which is 99% just a cold, but traveling with a coughing kid in this environment sounds unpleasant.
We have a trip planned for the beginning of April to WDW. At this point, we are not planning to cancel, but as others have said, things could change that could prevent us from going. We do have "cancel for any reason" trip insurance (we are doing a DVC rental), so if we have to cancel, at least we'll be able to get a refund so we can reschedule.
We’re flying to Disneyland tomorrow, no plans to cancel.
We also have a trip in late April planned. Depending on how things look then, we may cancel flights and drive instead, but we still plan to go.
We are coming from Northern Ca, fairly close to the unknown origin cases. So...I feel like going anywhere around town is risky, might as well go to Disneyland. 🤷♀️
I'm supposed to leave for Disney on Wednesday. I wasn't planning on cancelling or really worried, but I'm seeing a lot of threads about major conferences getting cancelled and people not flying, and I have to admit, I'm getting a bit nervous now. I don't think I'm going to cancel at this point.
We are going to the first weekend in April for a dance event. I haven't worried about that being affected at all until last night. Seems like the next few weeks might be a bit crazy. We're booked on SW so that's a relief but we're within driving distance so we could always drive if needed
I would plan to go, but if things get bad than cancel the week before. The bright side is the parks may be less crowded for spring break!
That’s what I’m thinking, less crowds due to panic! The flights I want are pricey but dropped a little so I want to book them, but I think I will wait another week or so. I’m hoping the airline we want to fly joins American Airlines and a few others that are allowing changes with no fees for flights to anywhere booked during certain dates.
We have planned a one-day visit about 10 days from now. We have annual passes so we can easily reschedule. We bought a day pass for MIL to come with us (she’s local) and we can change it up to the day before. The biggest fear is that MIL would get sick or one of us would transmit something to my FIL who is in his 90s and in poor health. Right now we’re still waiting to see what changes.
I'm going to DLR in 3 weeks and have no intentions of canceling. But, I'm traveling solo. I always carry hand sanitizer and wash my hands like a normal human should.
We're doing Spring Break at Disneyland (end of March), and we've got a 9-night DCL sailing out of Rome at the end of June. So far, we're sticking to our plans.
Just curious if anyone in this thread has changed their plans since last week?
No. I did review our reservations and trip insurance plans to see which companies we would need to call if there is a need to change plans. Unless WDW closes, or the government stops us from traveling, we are planning to go.

We are working on booking points through DVC rental store for November and still plan to move forward with that. We will, however, be purchasing their “cancel for any reason” travel insurance just in case. That’s not something we would normally do. I’m not comfortable not doing it, though, with how much this virus is changing week to week.
We went to Disneyland last week. Flights were about 25% full. Disneyland wasn’t too crowded, but it’s a lower season time.
We were extra careful about washing hands, using sanitizer, etc. I felt comfortable, at that point.
We have another trip planned for mid April. My parents and brother are coming on that one, and they are older and my brother has medical issues. At this point, we plan to still go but will probably drive instead of fly.
We have annual passes, so I will continue to book trips that are fully refundable or changeable - flights through southwest, hotels with free cancellations, and just decide as we get close.
As of right now we are still going the first weekend in April. Flights are booked on SW so I'm not worried about cancelling. At this point I think either we go as planned and fly or not go at all. I had considered driving as an alternative but I really don't want to drive 5.5 -6 hours for just a weekend. Also, we are going for a special event which could still be cancelled and if it is we will obviously just not go.
Just curious if anyone in this thread has changed their plans since last week?
Yeah. As of right now, I decided not to go during spring break. My kids can't keep their hands to themselves and last time DS touched EVERYTHING in the hotel room (he just turned 2). Everyone else in their lives will crucify me if they come home sick with anything. I might have an important work thing that week anyways so I've basically resigned myself from going unless we can squeeze in a quick trip if this thing has blown over by then.
We are still planning to go at the end of April, but I’m glad that we still haven’t told our boys (12 and 9) about the trip because I suspect there’s at least a 50% chance it will wind up cancelled.
We canceled our cruise out of Canaveral and are replacing it with several days at WDW on our annual passes (we will stay at the home of relatives who will be away). We’ll wash hands/sanitize more, but probably won’t make any other changes. I’m hoping it won’t be as busy.

We are canceling our trip to Disneyland that was scheduled for the second week of April. We are only canceling because there are people in our group with suppressed immune systems.
Has anyone successfully gotten a refund on tickets? I bought through Undercover Tourist. This is literally the only time we would be able to go before the tickets would expire.
