I was just curious to see if anyone is still planning on traveling in 2020? We are supposed to go in August so we still have quite a lot of time left to see but I am curious to see what the crowds will be like in the future and at what point will they decide it is safe to open up again.
We have annual passes, and will try again when all of this calms down. We live about 7 hours from WDW and have family in the area, so we usually combine Disney days with family visits.

We were supposed to go April 1 - 10, but with the resort closures starting soon, we're worried it will get extended at the last minute and we won't have time to change our plans. So we're starting today with seeing if we can reschedule our DVC rental, and then once we have those dates locked in, we'll do the rest. As of now, we were looking at going in early August (which will be awful temperature-wise, but it is what it is), but maybe have to go further out than that.
I don't think I'd want to plan to go anytime in April or May, at least, based on what the CDC just said about an 8 week "recommendation" of not being in groups larger than 50. (And I only say that because of the parks and resorts potentially still be closed.) June still seems iffy to me.
We spent a small fortune on a paris, Disneyland Paris and Adventures by Disney river cruise in July. I'm waiting to see what they do for that far out. I've been planning this trip 18 months, and don't want to lose a small fortune, but I'm hoping that maybe by July we can travel again.

I've got 3 trips booked at the Grand Californian. August for Star Wars celebration, October for friends visiting from the UK, and December for our annual girls trip to b disneyland.
I will be devasted if the October trip doesn't happen; I haven't seen my UK friends since 2017 and we've been planning this for 2 years

Who did you book through? We are booked for late June (booked with David’s) and I’m under the impression we are out of luck if the resort is closed, no refunds for rented points...I’m hoping they are being flexible given these circumstances. Can you let me know how it plays out?

We were supposed to be there now. We rescheduled for the first week of June but I'm like 99% sure we'll cancel that too. If things are better by the end of July maybe we could go right before school starts, but who even knows what's happening with school! In all likelihood our best shot at going will be fall break, and if not, Thanksgiving.

I guess my question is when will we feel safe again to be around crowds of people? Even if the rates of infection is slashed by half, will people still be comfortable being in such a crowded place with people from all over the world?
First weekend in May. All of our reservations are still intact, for now. My daughter is supposed to cheer at the Summit at ESPN WWOS and we are staying on Disney property. So far, we are being told it is "postponed". But it's not looking good.
We were supposed to go to Disney World in early May. We cancelled that trip and will go May 2021. We are also going to try for a quick trip to Disneyland in September.

We were working with DVC rental store to rent points in November. We’ve cancelled that request. Beyond the virus, with the stock markets plunging, we want to wait and see if things start to level off before we sink a bunch of money into a vacation.

Update: We were able to reschedule our DVC rental for early August, and we were able to add the "cancel for any reason" insurance with the rebooking, so that was good. I had to file a claim for reimbursement for our original flights, which I cancelled, so hopefully that reimbursement comes through. We've booked new flights and made new ADRs. I haven't been able to transfer our tickets through the MDE app, so I will do that later this week.

This is a great question. We are thinking about Nov but who knows if we will be comfortable traveling then. My parents own DVC and some of the points were banked from 2019 so we need to try and use/rent by Jan 2021.
I also bought an annual pass in mid-January which will now expire in early February with the closure. Spring break is now cancelled but I'm still planning on a big trip in October, Jersey Week, and one more medium trip sometime after that before the pass expires. I don't do well with heat so I don't want to venture there in the summer. I will consider squeezing in Memorial Day weekend if things are back to normal.

huskymom, we went through DVC Rental Store. We forgot to add insurance for our original trip, and when DH contacted the agency owner (Scott) about our options, he told DH that they would refund or reschedule if resorts closed. DH asked if would be an option for us to just reschedule now, given our arrival date was so close to the scheduled end of the closure, and Scott was very responsive and easy to work with on doing that. I know part of the rescheduling involves the DVC owner, too, but we had everything rescheduled (and insurance added this time) within 24 hours.

That's good! We used them last time but David's came through first for us this time. I had looked at the insurance last time but it seemed to not cover much within 30 days? I can't recall exactly. I'm glad you can reschedule! We are going end of June and just crossing our fingers for now. How far out did you push it?

This is a good point. I think the worldwide emergency posture is expected to last through July/August, but there will be spikes again when people get back to normal. I don’t think the Florida government will tell WDW to close because of how much it contributes to the state economy but area hospitals will likely be very overwhelmed. I can see DL being closed off and on. If the treatments that look promising now are able to be scaled up and deployed then I think the parks will have a good chance of staying open, though will operate under a travel advisory for the elderly and immune compromised. That will severely suck considering how many Make a Wish families typically move through there.
