FINALLY. And who would have guessed that while they were still saying the chance of getting it was “very low” in OC, at least 300 people caught it. They’re BEC with me, I think. I might be irrationally angry with everything they’re doing about this.

I have been going back and forth with my frustration and annoyance of how they have handled it. POOF
PDQ - I'm gunna delete the info in this post later.
There's lots of things I could say, but none of them are nice.
OMG, that they had just traveled here to New Orleans...one of the places hit worst by the "hoax"...is icing on the cake!!
For those not familiar, a lot of uber-zealous evangelical Christian types travel here often, in order to stand on Bourbon Street with signs proclaiming that all those there are SINNERS!!!...anD ArE goINg To HELL!!!

Utah does NOT order SIP. Instead, Governor Herbert (R) orders "Stay Safe, Stay Home... Herbert said the state didn't want to issue a stay-at-home or shelter-in-place order in an attempt to frame things more positively." Normally I think our governor is pretty reasonable, but this is weak. Limit to essential travel including to "perform work if you cannot telework", but businesses can stay open so... (dining in restaurants was already banned at least)
Henry Ford Health System released their plan for ICU/ventilator prioritization in the case of overload. Specifically called out the cases they won’t intimate. My friend used HF and is considered terminal (brain cancer), but stable and living her best life. Poor thing.

Fuck Wagner. That's my main contribution to this conversation right now.

Considering the first case was officially diagnosed at the end of January, and that they refused up until last week to test anyone except those who had traveled to a hot spot or came in contact with a confirmed diagnosed COVID-19 patient...I'm not surprised there was community spread that wasn't being tracked. Ffs.
I missed this too! And I was worried that the "no interest" would be some stupid program we'd have to apply for and no one would know how and everyone would have different answers and no one would actually get, but would sound good (see federal SL forgiveness program).
Still major and will be extremely helpful, just wanted to be clear that it’s not all student loans.
Yes. Thanks for pointing out the clarification.
I did know that, and it was clear in my head since I paid off all my non-fed loans last year.
So I read the article. Do they really mean every federally backed student loan? Like, I’m gonna get a letter in about 20 days from my loan serviced stating that they won’t be auto deducting my student loan payment starting in April through September?

That is my understanding of it. Now I need to figure out what needs to be done to continue making payments.
A man fatally injured by the FBI was planning a bomb attack on a medical facility in the Kansas City area, the agency said in a news release Wednesday.
Timothy Wilson, 36, was injured Tuesday when FBI agents served a probable cause arrest warrant in Belton after a long-running domestic terrorism investigation, according to a statement Wednesday from Timothy Langan, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Kansas City office.
The statement did not detail what happened when agents served the warrant, but said Wilson was armed when he was injured and died later at a hospital.
A monthslong investigation determined that Wilson was a potentially violent extremist, motivated by religious, racial and anti-government beliefs, according to the statement. He had planned for several months to carry out a bombing and decided to target a Kansas City-area hospital using a “vehicle-borne” improvised explosive.
Wilson chose a hospital that was providing critical care during the current coronavirus pandemic and had taken steps to acquire materials to build the bomb in an attempt to cause “severe harm and mass casualties,” according to the statement.
President Donald Trump said Friday he has asked Vice President Mike Pence not to call governors he says have not been "appreciative" enough of his efforts on coronavirus – a group of critics that included a governor he referred to only by gender,
"Don't call the woman in Michigan," Trump said at a press conference while discussing Pence's work as head of the White House Coronavirus Task Force.
How would this affect students in deferment or forbearance?
I'm not sure. I put my loans in forbearance for 3 months right when this started to be extra safe so could cover our rent and mortgage, so I was wondering the same thing. In forbearance the loans keep accruing interest so hopefully that means they will automatically not. But I'm going to call to find out, but I'm probably going to wait a couple of weeks as I'm sure they still don't have answers to everything yet. When I called to put in forbearance I waited on hold for 1 hour and 40 min and then their computer system was down so they told me to call back the next day, lol.

This is making me panic. What are we going to do if we can't get help?
CurlyQ284 I'm sorry there is more stress because of his remarks. I think Gov Whitmer is doing a great job and will keep working to get us covered. It makes me sick that governors are being threatened in this way.
Hopefully someone will remind the dumbass president that Michigan is a battleground state in the upcoming election. It might be a good idea not to shit on us.
I'm reading breaking news that he has approved the FEMA request so maybe someone reminder him last night.

I am fairly confident I read that everyone was getting accruing interest stopped. I can't tell you where though, as I've read so many sites about it. I'm guessing the loan servicers will be putting out a FAQ email soon as well. I'm still in school for 5 more weeks but then will go into my grace period, however I have been having interest accrued and everything I've read makes it seem like that'll stop from April to Sept, and won't be tacked on later.
For people who CAN still pay monthly, it'll all go to principal, so will really help lower that.

Same. We really need to keep paying ours and are fortunate enough to still be working and earning during this time. I’m not looking forward to what a PITA I’m sure they’ll make it to get payments processed. Small in the grand scheme of things because I know the relief is sorely needed by so many but I need more stuff to figure out like a hole in the head right now.

However so lenders are still going to 0% interest for a period of months. I refinanced through SoFi and got a message saying for now my rate will be 0% and no action is required on my part. So check with your lender.
Forgot to add this in yesterday, but a bit of good news and reassurance that social distancing does help. Early results in British Columbia show the province's response is working to flatten the curve and keep hospitals capable of handling more cases. The message to citizens is "keep doing what you're doing": www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/physical-distancing-bc-covid19-coronavirus-1.5512269
This is a local story, but nursing home in the next town over just had 66 residents test positive. Before this our county had just 10 positives (which, lets be real, is probably because of a lack of tests). Maryland is now just under 1000 positives. By morning I'm sure it will be more.
So it’s somehow *entirety* NY-NJ-CT’s fault for traveling and spreading the virus, yet here’s FL:
Good lord. The idiocy is strong on that beach.
A data company made a video showing cell phone movement from 1 beach in Florida during Spring Break. The only news outlet I see calling it questionable is Fox News, so I assume it it legit.
ETA: I’m having trouble copying and pasting a link in my iPad. Search for “Tectonix Geo” that’s the name of the data company.
