Also, regarding Walmart, I was told by a pharmacist there that since they are a federal site, you can cross state lines to get a vaccine. I don't qualify in my state yet, but I do qualify in the next state over. I scheduled an appointment for Monday. I'm not sure about the ethics of this, but they seem to have 100's of appointments available within an hour of me, so I've decided not to question it.
Also something to note about Walmart they seem to also add a few during the day around lunch. I refreshed vaccine spotter (for around 4 days) about every hour and suddenly appointments showed up within a 40 mile distance to where we live. (aka Fort Worth) and I got two appointments together for my inlaws.
Thank you for this, I just got my mom an appointment by checking them again!
I keep hearing about counties around me opening up to the general public but I’m getting aced out. Half of DH’s office is vaccinated and not one of them is prioritized. I’m usually much better at this game

Same with Rite Aid and Giant Eagle. A lot of OH people are going to PA because Ohio’s eligible list does not include many comorbidities at all. Immunosuppressed people and cancer patients are still not eligible in Ohio.

This is happening in MO too. I think it's because the rural counties are getting so many vaccines, that some are going to waste while the major cities are begging for them. My tier actually opens up on Monday, but DH sent me a text today to make an appointment at a pharmacy in a county 45 minutes away for next Friday. His whole office and their immediate families are going then as well. Not one question about a tier or a priority level. Yet, I was just able to sign my parents (70+) up today for appointments in St. Louis County, though they'd been on the list for multiple places for many weeks. Distribution is an absolute joke here.
I signed some one up through a Walgreens account. It says they completed the appointment. That means they went right? Otherwise, it would say something different, and cancel their second appointment? I can text them and ask but the person I booked for was super stressed with work stuff so I didn’t want to bother them.

Is anyone familiar with the system in New Jersey? MIL is eligible (she's 75) and said she has signed up for like 5 different lists. But she signed up in January and still hasn't been able to get an appointment. I think she's waiting to be contacted - she was contacted once but by the time she responded the appointment was gone. I see they're opening things up to other tiers so I'm wondering if we need to help her be more proactive? She's in Hawthorne (Passaic County) if that makes a difference.

Has she tried cvs? They typically release appointments around 6 am so she should be on the site vaccine page right at 6 or 5 minutes before and just sit in the waiting room until she gets in (she may have to try a few days at that time). If she gets an appointment they hold it for 30 minutes while the person fills in all their details. I think there appointments are usually a week away.

I would try to book an appointment for her. If she can't get into county sites, try the pharmacies.

I’m in Essex County. People in my town FB group have said they just log into the county site as soon as it opens in the morning and just keep trying and refreshing the page, and if not then they’re checking back periodically throughout the day to see if anything opens up.
A few people in that same group have been booking appointments for their loved ones who aren’t as computer savvy, and have even offered to do so for others. Maybe look for a local social media group to see if there’s similar chatter?

No. She doesn't have a computer she uses at home and we just got her her first smart phone late last year. She still works (is a real estate agent) so she uses the computer in the office when she goes in. Which is why I think we may need to step in. 6am is 3am our time but maybe we should try and get up in the middle of the night to schedule it for her. Thanks for that info.

Thank you. I'll see if there are groups for her area. Or we'll check out the county website to see if we can schedule it for her. There is no way she'll be able to jump on the appointments quick enough to do it herself.
Another place for people to check for appointments-Costco!
A family member in CA is eligible starting today, but said that several of the drug stores hadn't updated to reflect that change, and her medical center and the other pharmacies were booked solid . She did find an appointment at Costco, and said that they had available appointments all week.
InBetweenDays, I made my dad's appointment in NJ, because he was doing the same -- on the lists but waiting for a call. He was qualified on multiple grounds and I was really worried about him, so I took matters into my own hands. I followed @nj_vaccine on twitter, and within a few hours got him signed up for a week later at Rowan. The appointment showed up around mid-day. I only needed his DOB and address, I just filled n/a into all the insurance fields and he corrected it later. He got his first shot two weeks ago now.

NJ just added a dedicated hotline for 75 and over to schedule appointments - here's a link with some info and the phone number (I know that Stone Harbor isn't near her, but the info should be universal):

Anyone know anything about New Mexico/Albuquerque? My step-dad, who is in his early 70s doesn't have a doctor nor is really involved in any healthcare systems there. I believe he signed up on the NM gov't site but it appears that many people his age have already gotten theirs and he hasn't heard anything. Not sure if there is anything I can send them or do.

Thanks so much! H is going to talk to her and make sure she's ok with us setting it up for her. But this is all VERY helpful information.

He should be able to make an appt at Walgreens or other pharmacies, NM has opened it up to many other groups at this point. People waiting for their state to contact them are going to be waiting awhile.
InBetweenDays you can call Walmart pharmacies in NJ directly to schedule someone 75+. Don't listen to what any of the recorded messages say, as of this morning they were still scheduling appts this way. Generally you press 1 for pharmacy and 0 to speak to someone. I assume the closest to her are Saddle Brook, Garfield, and Teterboro. Maybe Riverdale too, depending on how far she'll go (this location definitely takes appts over the phone, I called them today).
She's also by the Meadowlands megasite which started a sign up today (so she may be higher on the list) or drops appts at midnight if you're up. The Twitter feeds listed above give tips on the best way to snag an appt there.
It looks like Passaic County's DOH site won't go live until 3/25, but they had a high number of slots last time.

CVS just expanded their locations in NC this past weekend. Initially they only had two cities listed and now there are 7. Not sure if they will be adding more in the weeks to come but something to keep an eye on.
I found the FB group for DFW, and after 3 days, I feel like an expert (I am also wired all the time and now so obsessed that I have trouble sleeping). The smaller counties around DFW are getting too much and opening to everyone, sometimes advertising it, other times going down their lists. I have 3 good leads plus am hearing good stories on leftovers/cancellations at chain stores, so I am passing on an opportunity to drive 2.5 hours one-way to get a shot tomorrow (meaning I did not make an appt, but could have). This is mind blowing to me.
I am happy to help anyone here. I am so thankful to be feeling so optimistic.
Has anyone mentioned that CT is opening up appointments to anyone over the age of 18 as of 4/5? Originally it was 4/12 and they moved it up, so I take it things are going well.
My governor (PA) also said that we're getting more vaccines each week now, so things really do seem to be moving a lot faster.
Also, anyone know of any private pharmacies, etc in upstate NY that have J&J? My parents have, I think, Walgreens, Kinney Drugs, CVS? My mom and stepfather are waiting to get the one-shot version.
msmerymac , I'm in upstate NY, and haven't seen much J&J on offer. The state-run sites are pretty much all Pfizer. I know Moderna is available at CVS, that's what my MIL got. I've heard talk of local governments getting some J&J for deployment with home-bound seniors, but nowhere offering it under other circumstances yet.

Thanks! They are both okay with waiting awhile, though I would like to see them over July 4th, and they are both over 65. Thankfully they can mostly stay home with the exception of my mom's weekly grocery run.
I got my shot today! I heard a rumor the local mass vax site was accepting walk ins and high tailed it down there. 15 min later I’ve got my shot and my second one scheduled. So just because it says appointments required, they may not be actually required.
