I like True Crime All the Time and True Crime All the Time Unsolved. They cover different cases. They do a lot of shoutouts to donors at the beginning and play phone messages they get at the end so I always fast forward thru all that but I really like the hosts.
Tom Brown's Body was good
I don't think I knew there was a season 2 of Dr Death so I'll have to check that out!
I haven't listened to your first list but I find Crime Junkie sooo fake dramatic that I have to be in the right mood to listen to them.
Totally agree with this! They always sound so rehearsed and just reading off a script which I guess is fine but a more casual approach would suit them better IMO!

I just started listening to Strange and Unexplained (brought to you from the same guy that does the same two above but isn’t on the podcast) and I really like it.
Deep dive podcasts that cover a single case- In the Dark Bear Brook Dating Game Killer Dr. Death Hell and Gone Hunting Warhead Missing and Murdered: Finding Cleo Root of Evil: True Story of the Hodel Family The Thing About Pam Dirty John
New cases each episode- Generation Why True Crime Garage

I listen to them too and often roll my eyes while I am listening.
Hell and Back — I just finished Season 3 although all were good. “This season, she investigates the death of Mitrice Richardson in Malibu, California. On September 16, 2009, the Lost Hills Sheriff’s department responded to a 911 at a local restaurant where 24 year old Mitrice was behaving erratically and refused to pay her bill. Police took her to jail then released her in the middle of the night without her phone, wallet or access to her car. She was never seen alive again.”
MFM did this case on one episode and it’s a story that has stuck with me. I had no idea there was another podcast out with an entire season dedicated solely to her case. Added this one, for sure.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but has anyone started listening to “Missing on 9/11”? It is such a mysterious story, about a woman who lived next to the World Trade Center but vanished the day *before* 9/11 without a trace. There are only two episodes out so far but I am hooked
I just finished season 2 of In the Dark. It's an investigative podcast and season 2 was about the case of Curtis Flowers. A black man who was tried 6 times for the murders of 4 people in a small town in Mississippi. I thought it was really well done. I didn't listen to season 1, but I probably will next. I think I heard an add for season 2 while listening to another podcast and it got my attention.

haha. I didn't even realize it was an old thread when I just posted.

I think Crime Junkie did an episode on this case? But I will have to listen to this podcast because it really fascinated me!

Sorry to RE-bump an old thread, lol, but thank you for this recommendation. This is pretty interesting, I'm surprised I haven't heard of this case with all of the True Crime I immerse myself in. I know there's only two episodes out right now so maybe they'll touch on this later, but how can the family think she ran into the buildings to help when she was unaccounted the night before 9/11? I feel like something clearly happened to her between her evening shopping which was caught on camera and when her husband was expecting her home? Did I miss something? They said there's speculation that she ran off and started a new life, but her shopping before she disappeared does not indicate that at all.

yourmother I listened to The Orange Tree and was into it and then....it just stops?! It ends with Laura responding to their FB request and then nothing?
Yeah, but starting a new life and buying bed linens and three pairs of shoes? IDK, that didn't strike me as starting a new life.
LOL, ok I can see that. It just seemed like for a random shopping trip she hadn't mentioned to her husband it was a big spend.
If I ever turn up missing and I did that the night before, please let everyone know I've gotten a new place for myself and not to look for me, ha!
LOL, yeah, I guess we obviously don't know her mindset.
This case has certainly caught my attention and so I googled and there's A LOT to dig into with this woman. The timing is also so strange it being 9/10/01 and she's lived so close to the WTC. It's a head scratcher. I missed that she bought clothing, though. Huh.

Thanks for the rec! I’m definitely listening because her disappearance is so strange! I listened to the first two episodes.

So I read a *bunch* of stuff online about this case that helps answer some of these questions but I guess they’re also “spoilers” (feels icky to say that about a real life case but you know what I mean) so I don’t know if I should share!

Can you put it under a spoiler? I agree, I never use that term for TC stories because it feels disrespectful, I get it.

That’s what I thought too. I was kinda over it by the end and then it just abruptly came to a stop. I was left a bit confused.
Piketon Massacre is good. It's about a mass murder (8 people) that happened in 2016 but a huge update happened just last month and there are still many questions that will be answered probably within the next few months.
