I wish concert tickets weren’t so expensive. Green Day, Weezer, and Fallout Boy are coming to the area, but it’s $250 for h and I to get not great seats. Can’t decide if I want to go that bad, although I love Weezer and Green Day.
Mom passed her physical therapy test so she can get discharged today! Thank god because I don’t think I’d survive a third night of bad sleep. I’m so tired I feel hungover. Hats off to all you parents lol.
PDQ. The spouse of someone in my husband's office tested positive for Covid. Out of an office of 12 people, guess how many are vaccinated? 3. Yep. So everyone but my husband and two others is quarantining. Fucking Texas, man.

I figured out wes was sick bc he was overheated from HIS PAJAMAS. lol. Wtf. So they were able to go to tennis today which I was grateful for bc we go with a friend and his mom is as close to a BFF as I’m going to have at this age.
H and I got into several arguments the past few nights about sending the kids to school. Ugh. It’s easy for him to say bc he’s not the one who will be responsible for their education but if they get sick bc “l” sent them—-I don’t know how we’ll handle that as a couple.

Stupid states represent. We are back under a mask mandate here and I'm honestly glad. I'm very worried my mom and dad are going to have cut off contact again bc of breakthrough infections and concern about immunocompromised status due to my dad's metastatic cancer/experimental treatment. If DS misses this time with him because of the stupidity of our community I just give up.

We are going to this in Hershey, PA. I think we paid $150 per ticket & I still think that’s too much!! My H insisted though bc he loves Weezer.
We are seeing GNR next weekend and that was $30 per ticket, much more my style haha.

I was considering Hershey, but it’s sold out! So now I’m looking at DC. We’re kind of right in between.

I live thousands of miles away from my loathsome Trumper SIL but I am here and have to see her today. I just found out she's not vaxxed and I will ignore her from 6 feet away all day and it will be glorious.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
DS1’s at home covid test was negative. I’m still going to take him for a PCR test today. He didn’t get up until 10:30. He hasn’t eaten, but he’s very happily and vocally playing Mario Kart with his brother. I have no idea what’s going on with him.
I didn’t wake up until 11 so now I feel kind of off from sleeping so much. Lol
Thankfully, everything we “need” to do this weekend is already done, so I don’t feel bad being lazy. I think I’m gonna go have some coffee and read.
I want to run a couple errands later and find some hiking pants for our Iceland trip.

idoinjuly I don’t know all the details but if the spouse tested positive, people in the office shouldn’t have to quarantine unless they were in close contact- otherwise they are contacts of a contact, and only the spouse needs to quarantine.
But agree with your anger on the low vaccination rate.

I don’t find that too bad for a big show of a recent act but charging that much for bands whose heyday was 20+ years ago seems like a lot. I wasn’t paying $100+ to see the BeeGees when I was in HS lol
I’m debating about going to a concert too but it’s about an hour away and indoors at a small venue. During the week. One one hand, I want to go, but if it sucks that’s a long drive on a Wednesday.
We went to a “farmers market” today and walked around near the water. Are other area’s farmers markets mostly prepared food, drinks, candles and booze? There were 2 mushroom stands, 1 micro greens stand and 2 places selling produce out of about 40? vendors. I did get some very nice looking plums but I couldn’t even get blackberries or raspberries.
I am tired today. We were out of town all last week, then work was super busy this week and I was in the office all 5 days, then we went out in the city to an event last night. I feel like I've barely been home in 2 weeks and that's a huge shock to the system, especially after being home 24/7 for so long!
I am meeting friends for drinks tonight and I'm not looking forward to it, lol. I would rather stay home but my friend has a guy in from OOT and she really wanted us to come out and meet him. Thankfully, I managed to get them excited about going to a winery that is in MY town instead of having to drive into the city again. I love the city but I am tried of driving all over the place and it's a pain to drive back late at night when I'm just ready to go to bed.
I need to run some errands at some point this weekend, but at this rate I'm thinking it will wait for tomorrow. I am completely uninspired on what to cook for dinners this week, so I can't figure out my grocery list. Nothing? I really kind of want nothing.

Yes, at least the ones near me. It’s why I don’t like going. It’s more of a flea market than farmers. They even have people selling MLM shit at ours. Ugh.

A fucking right-wing militia tried to recruit at my local school board meeting on Thursday after they protested “critical race theory” being taught in schools (hint: it’s not. They’re mad about Ibram X. Kendi appearing on the book list).
I don’t know what’s worse, that or the moms saying they DiDn’T tHiNk ThAt cOuLd HaPpEn HeRe.
Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii truly fucking cannot with most people right now.
And the militia passed out flyers with Comic Sans MS all over it so we know to take them seriously.

MLMs! That’s even worse!
We have a “makers market” that has same percentage of booths I saw today and that seems like a more honest name for it. If you are calling it a farmers market, I expect produce! Especially during the height of our growing season.

In my day, farmers markets were for farmers lol
I laugh when I still see people recommend going to a farmers market to get cheap produce. not where I live. We do have a few people who sell produce, sure, but it’s all small batch, organic, artisanal and I can buy way cheaper at the grocery store unfortunately. I’m sure quality is better, but in terms of price no way.
I got to sleep in today, and now my husband is taking the kid out for breakfast and to a local carnival. I don't know if I want to lay around and do nothing, or get some cooking and cleaning done uninterrupted. I found a recipe for papaya bars (like lemon bars) I want to try because we have so many ripe papayas.
tacokick a lot of the bigger farmers markets here are all prepared food. I also find the few produce stands that they have kind of expensive. But, there's a local farmers bureau that runs farmers markets and those ones are good and all produce! Maybe you're area has something similar?

Come out my way! We have a small farmers market, but a good selection of fresh produce.
So last weekend I tried to apply for a Nordstrom card, but it didn’t go through. The website gave me some weird error. So a few days later I tried again, same error. Yesterday I got a letter that I already had an account. When I logged in, I guess the first try went through, but 1- Nordstrom never emailed me, 2- I still don’t have a card.
I did buy a few things from the sale last night.
The beach was gorgeous this morning. Mid-70s, warm ocean, and so clear I could see my feet in neck deep water.
Just woke up from a nap and we’ll hit the pool and figure out dinner.

Ours don't have a lot of actual produce as well. I think part of it is the growing season, part is the cost to participate, and part is that people want farm to table produce at Walmart prices. And they're like fucking locusts if you put out samples and complain if you don't. The number of samples that I'd have to put out + the cost + the hours to participate (arrival time is really early and it takes forever to pack-up and get out) made the ROI not worth it.
4 more hours until 2yo bedtime. He is such an asshole to me and I am fucking done. He strongly favors DH and it feels like he has just spent the last 10 days trying to be as naughty as possible. Thankfully DH comes home in 8 hours.

lol I typed my response and then got distracted with texts and didn't post for a while. But yeah, so many people think farmers markets are cheap but they can't be because of the costs to participate, the time, and the additional labor.
My 7 y/o discovered Siri on the iPad. He’s been having conversations with her since 8:00 last night. He’ll ask her “Hey Siri, how much do I weigh?” “Hey Siri, where did my mom put my red shorts?” And it’s just making us laugh because Siri cannot answer these questions and he’s an only child who has had very limited peer interaction all summer 🤦🏻♀️

I should!!! I drove out to a farm the other day. A better market would be more efficient lol

I wonder if part of the issue here is that now there are a ton of little markets. On one hand, easier to get to for customers, but years ago there were only two big ones in the city and they were 90% produce. If I was a farmer, I don’t know if I’d want to bother coming down multiple times a week or for markets with less of a draw?

This is one that was listed on the farmers bureau site! That was part of my surprise.

I do think the produce at our markets is about the same or less than the store. Peaches were $2.50/lb, tomatoes were $3/lb and apples were $2/lb. Berries were $7-8 a quart. Other things like bread, onions, garlic or herbs are always $$ though.
