Just switch cold turkey. I did it, and I'm not ever looking back.
You mean you switched away from Apple?
I'm currently on Android and trying to decide if I want to make the leap to Apple so that I can get an Apple Watch and be able to Facetime people. Or if I just need to get a new Android smart watch because mine died.
I have an Android and had an iPhone for work and it made me appreciate my Android a lot more. The only thing that has made me tempted to switch after that experience was FaceTime. There are plenty of other video call options, but FaceTime seems so much better integrated.

The newest OS update on Apple will allow for FT with Android users.
I’m Apple for life. I like that all my devices can communicate seamlessly. I tried an Android, and I wanted to throw it out a window.

Yes, I switched completely away from Apple for multiple reasons.
1) You're locked into a proprietary system that doesn't play well with others. Often times Apple is a year or two behind tech. So by the time a new iphone is released, it's already obsolete. 2) While Apple says they've removed the kill software from their devices, it's still really suspicious that all of the tech has around a 2 year life span. 3) Horrible manufacturing practices. While the same could be said about most tech companies, Apple has a recorded bad record. 4) Meh camera optics in the iphone. Even the most basic android has a better optic system.
There are usually much better watches out there other than Apple, but they don't get as much press time.
I understand wanting all your stuff to communicate. I was there for quite a while. However, for me who is more adventurous with my tech, I grew to hate how slow Apple was progressing.

This is exciting. We'll see if my mom can handle sending me a link.
I'm so tired of our AQI being over 100. My facebook memories tell me that last year it snowed today, and that really cut down the smoke. Unfortunately, most of the smoke isn't from CO fires, so it's going to be a while before things clear up.
pixy0stix, I have always been a diehard Android lover. My Google Pixel phone is my favorite! But the Apple Watch and literally everyone else in my family on iPhone has been tempting just to make life "easier." The Samsung Galaxy 4 Watch is catching my eye though as a good option to replace my dead watch. I went with a Fossil watch a few years ago and it's just not that great and has been glitching and not staying connected and charged.

I've had the original Samsung Galaxy watch for a while with little to no issues with a Pixel 3. I'm waiting to upgrade to a Pixel 6 when it comes out.

My gynecologist office closed at some point last year, and my favorite doctor moved to another office too far away to work for me. I've been putting off finding a new one, because it's an awful task and I just didn't want to. Unfortunately, my birth control prescription expired so I now have my period for the first time in almost 10 years.

You make me want to explore Android (which DH does have). I'm too wrapped up in the Apple ecosystem but I should at least consider other options.
I also really like my Pixel 3. It's 2.5 years old and still going strong. The camera is amazing and there are a seemingly infinite number of apps. Battery life is good, too (was something like 36 hours when I first got it, now more like 24, obviously depending on usage).
I do not work for Google and receive no funding for this advertisement.

My caveat is that you will have a real life, "New phone, who's this?" moment. Because, as I said, Apple doesn't play nice with others. BUT, it's worth it.
One thing that I hate/love about android phones is that (as far as I know) you cannot "like" texts. So it seems like I get a lot of notifications that someone has liked/loved a text in a group chat but I can't do the same, so I either have to reply or look like I've ignored whatever it is that others are liking. This is a really dumb complaint as I type it out, lol. But I do sometimes feel left out as an android user.
That said, I have no interest in switching. We took all the photos on my trip last weekend on my phone since my friend has an iPhone and we quickly realized that my phone takes better pics. Mine isn't even the best best android.

I HATE when people like my texts. I don't need to get a notification for that! I open my phone expecting an actual response and get that instead. So annoying.
I like my Pixel but I am really tempted to get the Samsung S21 Ultra for the night sky photography. Because that is very practical living in a city.

Yeah, I would definitely prefer nobody like anything! It's annoying especially when someone is liking someone else's text in a group thread, I don't need to know that!
I am looking just forward to getting the next Pixel. My phone is better than an iPhone, but not as good as my Pixel was for pictures! You never know where you may be able to take good night sky pics though so that would be nice!

In a complete random - it snowed in Denver either 9/8 or 9/9/2001. I was there just before I started my job on 9/10 and it snowed. I can’t recall if it was the morning before or the morning my ex drove me to the airport. But… it solidified “early September = snow in Colorado” for me. 😂
also, a crazy part of the story. My ex and I had the big “dude, we are living on 3000 miles apart, do we want to try this?” conversation, and came to a “no” conclusion. They was the evening before I flew home. We are sitting around the house kind of “what do we do now?!” So I went to the computer (oh so 2001) to check my email. And there was an email from my now husband. I hadn’t heard from in 8 years, but a mutual connection told him I was moving the DC, where he had also just moved. 🥰🥰
If anyone can figure out how to make an android swipe backwards, I would switch. But either DH is clueless or it's not possible because I loathe his samsung with the fire of a thousand suns.
Perusing online, clicks on link, wants to swipe back, nope, have to hit some button at the bottom. Too lazy for all that.
I have a Pixel 3 and love it. It takes great pictures, has good battery life, and is just the right size for me (though they do have a larger version).

I have a Samsung Galaxy S9+ and I just ordered the IPhone 12. My phone takes awful pictures and the rest of the family and most of my friends have IPhones. I'm interested to see how it goes as I have had an android forever.

Having a uterus is dumb.
I need to find a new one too but I'm worried about how I will be treated as a fat person. Medical fatphobia is such a problem.
I broke down and scheduled a pedicure, my feet are scary bad. My salon requires masks so hopefully everyone complies. Last time I went earlier this summer they weren't requiring them and some lady gave me a death glare for wearing a mask and a Biden shirt, lol.
I feel like COVID has really made my social anxiety flare up again. Like I'm more anxious about small talk at the salon than about catching COVID.

I am right here with you. My doctor's office is way too far from my home and job. My new insurance sucks and my IUD is up in November so I'm trying to figure out what to do. I don't need my equipment as it is.
Last weekend went on vacation with a group where the three women were in their 50s, and the three guy friends were in their mid-40s. It's funny how just those 5-10 years make a huge difference in text behavior. We started a text chain that included all of us and the guys were commenting on and liking every random thing! The women mostly just used text to coordinate our schedules.
I am sad about my state going from having the one of the fewest COVID cases per person just a few weeks ago to being a real shitshow as of today. I guess all the tourism with no masking finally caught up to us.

I’m beginning to feel like it’s a me thing. Since Feb 2019, I have lost two oncologists, a surgeon, a neurologist, and my dentist! The dentist is most upsetting as for years I told him I lived I in fear he would retire. And he did!! I’ve been seeing him for 20 years! 😭 The surgeon, ok. Don’t care. Hopefully will never need him again. But the neurologist was also upsetting. Because I’ve seen half a dozen over the years and they were all jerks, until her. Well, one of the oncologist also really threw me for a loop, but I count him as a friend now. It really sucks when you have medical folks you trust and they move on.
The genius of Breaking Bad is that it is such a watchable show made up of really unlikable characters. I love it.
No Labor Day in the UAE, lol. Im sure some random holiday will pop up soon to balance. I'm frustrated because our resident visas still aren't back, so we now have to renew like...everything again for the month instead of buying stuff. Just can we be residents already?!?!
How is it going in Dubai so far? No Labor Day here in Qatar either!
Sorry to hear the residency permits are taking a while!!! We came during Ramadan so things moved super slowly and we had similar issues!!! Hope they come through soon!!!!
Ever since they consolidated our HR office, it's a nightmare.
Today I just sent an email asking for a reassignment. The person closed the job announcement early w/o approval and now wants me to edit the announcement for her mistake. Nope.

Speaking of iPhones, has anyone ever sold one? I have a working 6s and (I think?) a 6 just gathering dust in a drawer. I’m thinking the best route may be to offer them for $20-30 on Facebook Marketplace and see if anyone bites.
I already did the reset to wipe my personal info - is there anything else I need to do so that someone who buys it won’t have my info?

I bought myself new ice skates. Except I have to wait till they get a fully functional pair in stock in order to take them home. The only pair in my size they had in stock was missing a hook.
In a very big surprise, my feet measured a full 2 sizes smaller than when I skated back in the day.
So, are skates sized differently than they were in 1997 or did my feet shrink? 😂

I have a phone screen on Monday for a pretty promising looking job. I’m weirdly nervous! It’s been a long time since I’ve interviewed and while I know the hiring manager I don’t know this HR recruiter at all so I’m starting with a clean slate (for better or worse lol.)
