Speaking of iPhones, has anyone ever sold one? I have a working 6s and (I think?) a 6 just gathering dust in a drawer. I’m thinking the best route may be to offer them for $20-30 on Facebook Marketplace and see if anyone bites.
I already did the reset to wipe my personal info - is there anything else I need to do so that someone who buys it won’t have my info?
My ds sold an old 6 plus. This was a year ago but he got $90 on Nextdoor. He did the wiping of info so I don't know what that entailed. Worth a shot to try to sell!
In this week's installment of Everything Is Terrible--Home Edition, we recently discovered the floor around our fridge was bubbling. Got in touch with insurance company yesterday, and now my kitchen floor and drywall is partially ripped out, the fridge is in the dining room, and we have 3 commercial fans, 1 air scrubber and 1 commercial dehumidifier running 24/7 until the subfloor dries out (Monday, maybe?).
I know a lot of people have it a lot worse, but I need to whine. The noise is inescapable in our little 1100sq ft house, and H is already on the verge of a nervous breakdown due to work. Everything is a lot right now. And Terrible.
The only bright spot is I'll finally get new kitchen/dining room flooring and a counter-depth fridge that doesn’t protrude into our tiny galley kitchen. Yay?

I listed it maybe an hour ago and I’m already regretting it. People are either majorly low-balling me, or asking for my number (which is apparently a scam in most cases). I may just delete the listing entirely and forget about it.

The International Rescue Committee here (maybe elsewhere too?) is accepting smart phones "in good working order" for Afghan refugees.

That sucks. I posted to Nextdoor in my local neighborhood only so maybe that helped. The people that bought it lived only a mile or two from me.

I was in a local used bookstore this week and discovered they also sell used electronics. They had signs offering to buy old phones/tablets. I would go that route if selling.
Today is my 20th anniversary with the government. To celebrate my old timer entitledness, I am currently in the edge of BURN IT DOWN because I stopped by the office to look for a file and discovered that my chair was gone. Not just borrowed, but excessed because it “didn’t match the rest.” The reason it was different it because it was purchased for its shorter seat pan, so it fits shorter people better. Unfortunately, it was purchased for me, but I inherited it after someone short retired. And, complicated by me not having “my cube with my chair” any more. But, I was hoping with the reservation system I could reserve the cube with that chair.
But really, I am just hella pissed at the audacity of getting rid of a chair without asking why it was different.

I've burned it down before because people touched my stuff. It was all very polite but very very firm.

I'd be seeing red. I already have so much trouble with ergonomics due to my height, and average-sized people so often don't even contemplate that they make my work life harder.

Argh.
A few years ago I was out of work for a few weeks - I came back and someone outright told me that they swapped their chair with mine because mine was more comfortable. WTF.
Thank you! This is totally one of those things where I am trying to tell myself it’s not that big of a deal. And yet, I know this is what women do in the workplace, don’t want to be seen as unreasonable, so we let shit go. But dammit! The stand issue chair was picked by a 6 foot tall guy and, really, no one likes it. Most tolerate it because they don’t think they can complain. Like, I would totally go to bat for anyone under me that had this happen, but for myself, I feel like I just have to suck it up.
But I also now want to another chair, taken from his budget, not mine. 😂

This exact same thing happened to me! I was away at a conference and came back to find someone had stolen my comfy chair and left me with their shitty chair. The audacity of some people.
I'm shocked that there isn't a LLR documentary post yet. It premiered on Amazon Prime. Now I just have to find time to watch it.
I was watching the clock for 5pm to hit so I could move from the office to the living room to watch! So just turned it on.
ugh. I *hate* MLMs. I guess it was drilled into me early as a kid what a scam they are. But my friend’s mom got into them. And totally bought into and internalized all the messages that she was the one the couldn’t do it, not that the structure was set up for her failure. And, I wonder if they are so much a thing outside the US, or is it the American entrepreneur/small business enigma?
Which kind of gets me going on the weird pedestal we, as a culture, hold up people who work for themselves. The damn gig economy. They way people have bought into gig/work for yourself/you control your success or failure. There was a story on NPR awhile back that just left me thinking “give me a job, with a salary and set hour and health insurance.”
My gynecologist office closed at some point last year, and my favorite doctor moved to another office too far away to work for me. I've been putting off finding a new one, because it's an awful task and I just didn't want to. Unfortunately, my birth control prescription expired so I now have my period for the first time in almost 10 years.
Having a uterus is dumb.
Look into NURX. I use them for my BCP when I was between offices and they were pretty easy to use.

I have hit the point of it not being worth my energy to sell stuff. We had some tire rims that are like $250 each. We’ve moved them a couple of times (plus a bazillion more moving then around the house. h finally listed them yesterday, for a $100. And within an hour was bitching about people blowing up his phone, saying they were on their way, and the ghosting. We finally had a guy who sent us half to hold them. Fine. But then, he called 3 times before 8am this morning. Dude. I wish I could have found a place to take them. Even at $25 each.

THere is a website called Sell Cell that buys cell phones. YOu could try there.
