For those experiencing some cracker, cereal shortages. Kellogg's workers went on strike last week at several sites throughout the US. That might add onto your issues.
ETA: There was a recent strike at Frito Lay and Nabisco, too.
It seems like they are transitioning from Coke Zero to Zero Coke? No idea why, but I still have no idea why Coke Zero was made in the first place even though people really like.
Speaking of Coke, I find that every 2-3 months Diet Coke will be out of stock EVERYWHERE for about a week, but it always comes back (so far).
My H has been having a really hard time finding unflavored Topo Chico.
Coke Zero tastes more like regular Coke. I can't drink diet Coke as it leaves a bitter after taste in my mouth. I don't have this issue with Coke Zero.
I forgot a big one! Stain removers! I can find detergent and bleach no problem, but the stain removal shelf is totally bare.
We’ve been keeping an eye on the oxi clean spray, there’s still a spot on the shelves for it, but no bottles. We ended up with the gel stuff, but the scent is so strong!

Same here. I wanted the spray but got the gel. It smells up my entire laundry room. I normally use all unscented laundry products so I hate it. It is effective though.
I normally use Grandma's Stain Remover but can't find it.
G2 gatorade. DH refuses to drink anything else. Even walmart doesn't have it.
I haven't been paying attention to much else. We did find that for the small soda cans, Walgreens seems to have those in stock. My dad actually saw them there getting a prescription.
I literally never drink Gatorade but apparently I am supposed to drink it before my surgery next week. I guess I need to start shopping now? I had no idea this might be an issue. I think the last time I had Gatorade was like 2007.
ETA: Thanks to this thread, I noticed that the vending machine at work has Gatorade! So I bought 3. I hope the blue one doesn't taste horrible.

Our grocery store has had limited stock. You might be ok as long as you’re not too picky on flavor.

I think you can also make Gatorade from a mix. I wonder if that's impacted.
I've never until this thread realized how passionate people are about pickles. If pickles were the last food available on earth, I'd be dead rather than eat them.
A gaming system. It was an IOU gift last Christmas for our boys, still can’t really find what we want.
Interesting on the rental car prices for some, we haven’t noticed it. We rented a truck pretty inexpensively last week in the Bay Area (cost of gas kills you tho with that one!) and squeaked by with a long rental in June. I’m doing a rental for a day this week for a work trip and it’s not insane.

I was able to get an XBox X for my DS and a PS5 for a cousin (he paid for his, I'm not that nice of an aunt) using the GameStop Pro option. It's a $20 subscription which annoyed the heck out of me, but it worked and now I'm done. They have had special bundles about once a week that sell out in the pro presale before it goes public.
I am not noticing as much Christmas decor. I've been wanting to buy a new fake tree and finally resigned myself to paying what they cost, and now I can't find them.
I think sales are going to be this holiday. Painting supplies are usually 30% off at Sherwin Williams and now it's 10% and every item has a 4% supply chain surcharge. I need new dishes and was hoping for the early November sales but the salesperson said it would be unlikely this year. I'm still going to wait.
This thread has me mildly panicked and wanting to go to costco and Target.
I’ve been telling everyone I know for months that if you are brand specific to something, you need a 6-12 month supply. If you don’t care, something will be available. If you need something specific for allergy or whatever reason, buy it in bulk asap.

It's just a bunch of random stuff. For the longest time this summer, I couldn't find Yasso Frozen yogurt bars. I also feel like stores like Target have way less clothes for kids.
The most concerning one I’ve experienced is a medicine I was going to start. It is a weekly injection and the next best alternative is a daily injection, which is a bummer.
If it is really as bad as they say it is, with millions of shipping containers piled up in California, can’t the federal government do some kind of incentive program, like a grant or double pay to every worker who goes to unload and transport them? I feel like this should be concerning enough to the country that there would be some effort to help solve it.
My H read an article that said the port only runs 1st shift. WTF?!?!? They were like "yah maybe we'll look at adding 2nd shift. Meh."
Head. Explode.
Now I don't know the economics of how ports get paid and what financial incentives they have. Apparently not much of a financial incentive or they'd have added more shifts already. But compared to how the manufacturing industry handles demand..... I was surprised.
I work in shipping - a lot of them are opening 2nd shifts or weekend shifts. But there is so much backlog that it is not helping much. Vessels are delayed for a month, routinely. Or arrive but sit out in the ocean waiting to dock for weeks.

I have been harping for months about the tree and light shortage this year. ☹️ It’s unfortunately going to be a hard find. Don’t expect sales on holiday decor. If you see it and want/need it for the holidays buy it then.
My company has a client who cannot get their seasonal items on vessels. They paid premium plus some to get a very minimal amount in. They didn’t get enough to stock all their stores. Only select areas will get shipments.

It also has a lot to do with safety. Moving heavy ass containers and equipment in the dead of night while it’s dark is dangerous. Many ports don’t have proper lighting

And hello fellow shipper.
mysteriouswife , I love finding people in our industry since it's no so common! The whole mess at the moment is making people a lot more aware of us LOL

Yes, I needed new lights after several years of limping along with part-working strands, and thanks to one of your earlier posts I ordered 4 boxes from Amazon Warehouse over a month ago. Thank you! No way I would have dealt with that in September otherwise.

H finds it hilarious. He worked for a hugely hated company years ago. He would be cautious on wearing his company logo in public. On more than one occasion strangers would stop and yell at him. Now the tides have turned. His uncle was giving me hell over shipping and supply chain. Like I have any control over LTL/FTL rates or the weeks out to get an empty trailer. I told him to buy his own truck and hire a CDL driver for his company. Then he doesn’t have to contact out.
A friend in town recently found Kellogg's Frosted Flakes imported from Mexico on the shelves at our local major grocery store. All of the text was in Spanish. Seems like they're doing what they can to bring items in. I know they have a strike going on stateside.
- Gatorade - various prepared meat items (grass fed beef sausage) from Costco - wart remover, I've had it on my Instacart list for over a month - plastic storage bins (with lids, and without) for organizing closets and storing clothes, etc.
I finally found mason jars today at Walmart! We store a lot of our grains, cereals, pastas, etc. I've been on the hunt for 64oz jars and found one single pack amongst the 8oz jars.

Plastic storage bins are making their way back. I have seen the as shelf filler. Target and Michael’s are turning them long ways to fill dead space

It’s nice to see someone else who has been on this for a while. I’ve been feeling like chicken little ever since my industry practically collapsed back in March.

Michael's! I need to check there. I used to get a very basic large white plastic basket from Dollar Tree for our closets, and need something taller. We just moved and I need a million plastic storage bins. They've been so hard to find!
I’m not a big shopper and will just grab whatever is available when I go so I don’t know about a lot of little things or brand specific.
I did notice lunchables recently. Other than that we are making sure to order way ahead before something breaks (dishwasher) or in stock (couch). We probably would have done a brown couch instead of gray but gray was in stock so now we are just being cool and mixing and matching.
We put our addition on hold to order windows and get permits. I would rather windows come in and we can close everything up rather than have no windows during winter. I guess we have been pretty lucky but yeah we aren’t really trusting custom orders.
