"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

Watching GMA and they said there is a system of checks involved whenever an actor is supposed to handle a prop firearm. Probably firmed up even more after Brandon Lee was killed. I don’t understand how this could have happened.

Brandon Lee’s death was the first thing I thought of.
Yeah I can’t imagine. I guess I though bullets were never used, so why would there be bullets in the gun?
From what I was reading earlier, these accidents are usually caused by the casing from the charge (that allows the gun to look/act like it’s firing even with no bullet) not coming out correctly after it’s fired. If you don’t clear the casing from that 1st charge, it can come out in the 2nd charge - acting like a non-bullet bullet.
This is so tragic and completely unnecessary. I know gun legislation will probably never pass because americuh/maliberties etc but maybe they could at least make a law that prop guns can't have projectiles or the ability to accidentally have a projectile? We have CGI for the "realism"!!
ETA: I can see how it was the cinematographer and director who were shot, if they were behind the camera and the camera frame was head-on.
how incredibly tragic. Does a blank count as a "live" round? I just can't believe they use real bullets. I hate that the right has been non stop with the trolling and "jokes" on Alec Baldwin, because they hate him so much. its disgusting.

It might count - at least, that's what some people are speculating. I'm not sure why the union put out a statement like that where it could be confusing and investigators haven't confirmed anything yet.
As for the right...fuck them. They're treating this like a joke. A person lost their life in a tragic way.
ABC News is reporting that a whole bunch of employees in the camera department resigned the day prior to the accident over safety concerns. And that the issue of gun safety had been brought up and brushed off by the producers. If true… that is so inexcusable.
This article was posted over on ML.
It’s insane to me that they let this happen. It really doesn’t seem like a freak accident but negligence. I’m curious if criminal charges will eventually be brought.
Why are they even using real guns? That is just dumb and even with the best protocols leaves things open for human error.
For the same reason they use real other props.
Not saying it’s a good or right reason, but if the directors are going for realism, they use real props.
(Not defending the stance just saying why they do it)
But why in the world was a live round in it? That’s the part that boggles my mind. And was it just one live round? Or were there multiple live rounds? Why is it necessary for the prop person in charge of the gun to even purchase live rounds or have them on the set at all?

Wasn’t the gun loaded with blanks? I think blanks are still considered live rounds.
However, Baldwin was told it was a cold gun which means it was a completely unloaded weapon.

For the purposes of cinematography, a blank is considered a “live round”, so it’s possible that reports referring to a live round on set are actually talking about blanks.
There is no reason an actual bullet should have been on set, and bullets and blanks are pretty easy to tell apart. In my opinion, anyone who loaded that gun with a real bully was either a) extremely negligent (possibly criminally negligent) or b) actively trying to hurt people.

Has anyone heard about the t-shirt that the shit-stain of a person (??) Donald Trump Jr. is selling? "Guns don't kill people. Alec Baldwin kills people".
i mean.... what the absolute fuck??? That family can't get any lower if they tried.

Oh i'm sure they will surprise us and prove you wrong.

Press conference by NM law enforcement announced that the director who was injured had a bullet recovered from his shoulder. They are looking to confirm whether this is the same bullet that came from the gun Baldwin shot that also killed Hutchins but that's what it appears to be.
I'm not usually a conspiracy theorist, but does this suggest someone intended for this to happen?? That seems unfathomable to me, but I can't wrap my head around why else real bullets would be on a movie set. I hope I'm misunderstanding something.
