Because the pause was extended beyond the end of the waiver and these paused months count for pslf, you have some wiggle room in applying for the IDR. Just make sure it's all set to go before payments resume in January. I cannot imagine it will be extended again.
Do you mean they count if you've continued to make payments? They don't count if you've been paying $0, right? I swear I read that somewhere...
If your loan was in COVID forbearance, it counts, even if you haven’t made payments.

Ok I finally completed 4 forms and sent them to different employers. 1 is my current employer so should be easy, although I'm still a little confused about the full time work hours thing. 1 I confirmed with the person that they are going to complete the form. The 2 others I feel like my emails might have gone to black holes, so we'll see what happens!
I had plans to not work full time and to transition over to exclusively per diem and part time stuff next year, but we'll see how many qualifying payments I have as that'll help me decide. It sucks that 2 part time jobs don't count, ugh, just stupid little rules.

2 part time jobs does count if they are worked concurrently, both are qualifying employers and your total work time is at least 30 hours.
But it has to be part time w-2 work, not contract. And per diem is a weird gray area - but if your employer will sign off on it you’re good.
Eta - and good job getting the ball rolling! Getting at least one of them in before the end of the waiver is what is of utmost importance.
Sorry if this has been asked, I just realized I qualify (15 years state service, but consolidated after college). I applied for the direct consolidation, do I need to wait until that is complete to fill/file my form?

The suggestion is to wait until consolidation goes through if you are combining ffel and older directs simply so the older direct isn’t forgiven while you’re waiting for consolidation to process.
At this point given how long it takes to process the pslf paperwork and how close we are to the waiver ending, I’d to ahead and submit pslf paperwork now.
My daughter I think would qualify if she has Depart of Ed loan? She has about 9000 left on it.
If so can someone direct me to where she should start? I thought I read that you cant apply yet but the applications will be out before 12/31 ?
Am I close?
If its for the newly announced $10k forgiveness, she needs to hang tight until there is more information. There will be a “short” application by the end of the year. If she happens to be on an idr, she may receive it automatically because they already have her income information.
If you mean qualifying for public service loan forgiveness, that’s a different answer I’m happy to provide if necessary.

Yes, I was talking about the newly announced. I dont not know what an IDR lol

Thanks! I wish the student gov website worked. Right now outside of my full time job, I have 2 part time jobs that I consider per diem, but they are actually w-2 (but not consistent hours since I pick my shifts) and then I have 2 other projects I'm working on that get paid through a fiscal sponsor that is non-profit but they are definitely per diem and I get a 1099. So trying to cobble all that together will be interesting! I want to leave my full time job sometime after I come back from maternity leave, but we'll see......

I hope you're able to cobble enough of it together! If those 2 will both sign off that you work at least 15 hours a week, giving you the magical 30 hours - you're good to go!

You are so helpful, thank you
IDR = income driven repayment plan. She would know if she's on one since she has to give them her income to get a lower payment.
We really should all contribute to a GFM to gretchenindisguise for her efforts in this thread and elsewhere. She’s so helpful.
You're sweet!
But it's really ok. I'm annoyed that this information isn't easier and I'm really glad that I'm able to help others. This community has helped me a lot, so I'm glad I have a way to give back part of what I've received.

All of mine are old ffel, I’ll start the paperwork. I ignored all of the pslf stuff because I never qualified before. In kept seeing this monster thread so I looked into it. 14k will hopefully get wiped!

No, she definitely does not.
Ok then she’ll have to wait until they get the application up and running. They say it’ll be short and fingers crossed it is. They say it’ll be up before the end of the pause and hopefully with the pause extended through the end of the year she’ll never have to make another payment again!
kimmyo73 , at least it's verification your stuff is actually being looked at? I feel like this has dragged out forever for you!
Yes, yes, it has. It did take some time to get my current employer added to their eligible list but really people. Depending on how the counts go, I'll either hit my 120 in October 2022 or May 2023 - damned taking those 9 months off when I left the university and thought my husband would provide for me. LOL.
It seems like Mohela moves through the applications more quickly - so with any luck, I will get answers soon.
I really hope the transfer doesn't mean I start over at the back of the line with processing.

I had 2 friends that I went to grad school with in the latest forgiveness wave. I'm so so so so so happy for them. I reached out to a few more afterwards, and have 1 plugging along, 1 who got forgiveness and refund check already, and a few more stragglers still waiting.
I got trophies a week ago on FedLoan and today got a letter that I’m transferring to MOHELA on 9/15. Looks like from the FB group many folks were supposed to transfer today, but were forgiven through FedLoan instead. Hope that happens for me! Although with the extended payment pause it doesn’t really matter, I’m just ready to be DONE.

Ok they approved 1 of my employers quickly, so I'm officially in the count. I qualify for 71 payments, so just have to get all my employer forms in.
However, sorry gretchenindisguise (and anyone else who can help), I'm still confused about "full time employment."
I work full time at my main job, but it's 28 hours per week, they won't sign for 30 hours. However, in this pdf the wording is confusing me, it says to qualify "You have to meet your employer’s definition of “full-time” OR work at least 30 hours per week, whichever is greater." But the wording on the official pslf form of page 1 is different. So will the 28 hours count? Has anyone else checked off less than 30 hours?
I have another employer that I'm guessing I can get to sign me off for 2 more hours of part time work that covers the same time period to get me to 30 hours, but if I don't have to deal with that I rather than.

The way it’s worded is terrible.
You’ll need your second part time job to get you those extra 2 hours.
Essentially you need employer to sign off as full time AND 30+ hours. Or you need 2 jobs that together = 30+ hours.
Also just know initial counts are typically lower than what you should expect. Fedloan/mohela does their initial review based on what they can see and they send it to dept of ed for the application of the waiver to any information they can’t see.

I’m inclined to think you’ll need the other employer. Based on the wording I interpret that as your employer’s definition of full-time, which you meet with 28hrs, OR 30 hours/week (which you don’t meet), whichever is greater (which is the 30 hours).

Also, it only took them 3 days to verify one of my employers and say it qualified and tell me how many qualifying payments I am eligible for so far and how many I had made with that one employer. I wasn’t expecting it to be so quick! I submitted another employer last night.
Do we know what happens with our loans going to a new servicer? As in, it says my loans were switching today, but do we keep uploading documents to fed loans? I’m on an email break this week so haven’t checked my email or tried to log in to new servicer.

I’d wait and send them to the new servicer when you’re all set up there. If FedLoan doesn’t have your loans, they can’t do anything.

My loans are still showing up on fed loans, that’s why I was confused. It said they would be switching as of yesterday. I guess it might take time?
