I was looking up BIL’s father’s obituary to send to my aunt, and saw one for a girl I went to high school with. I didn’t really know her, but it was still kind of sad and surprising to see this morning.
Bernadine - That had to be a shock and completely unexpected. I can understand seeing that and feeling sad.
TGIF! Seems like a lot of people took off today at work. Barely anyone is online, so I'm hoping to make it an early day and tell my team to log off around 3.
I'm getting the Real ID tomorrow morning. I tried to take care of it a few weeks ago, but I didn't have my SS card which is one of the required forms of ID. I couldn't find it at home either and it's quite possible it accidentally got thrown out when we were packing/purging for our move last year. I requested a new SS card and it arrived this week, so it's back to the DMV tomorrow morning. They don't open until 8:30, but people were already lined up outside at 7:30 when I went last time. I really have no desire to get up at 6am on a Saturday to be there for 7.

Passover starts tonight! We are going to my ILs for seder tonight but I’m hosting 17 people tomorrow. I still have to make most of the food 😬 I had made a manicure appointment for 2:00 hoping I’d be done by then and it would be the celebration of a long week of prep work; I’m still going to the manicure but there is no way I’ll be done. I’m really looking forward to having the week to enjoy my kids, slow down a bit and get some planning done for my daughter’s bat mitzvah later this year.
Bernadine, how is BIL related to you? It sounds like he's not your H's brother, is he married to a sister of yours?
TGIF. I am 100% not in the mood to work today. I want to run to Trader Joes at some point today and grab a few things before the weekend. I am planning on finishing painting my living room tomorrow, so I might get started on taping things later today too. And of course do some work, but I am not confident I actually have 8 hours worth of stuff that needs doing today.
We went to trivia last night, which was pretty fun but meant I was up later than usual (only 30 minutes or so, but still!).

My birthday falls on Easter this year, which I thought would be fun, until my H’s side and my side of the family decided we suddenly should all CARE VERY MUCH about getting together this weekend.
Church. Eggs. Breakfasts, the whole thing.
I’m probably just going to say I’m sick. I just wanted to piddle around in my garden and flower beds this weekend and have a cake with eggs made of buttercream on it, not see 25 members of my family.
Bernadine, that would be a shock. Similarly, I feel bad because yesterday I posted on Facebook and tagged my late cousin because it was the one year anniversary of her death and I wanted to reach her friends that I may not know, just to say, like, everyone who is missing her, I feel you, etc. Another one of her friends had posted and tagged her earlier in the day and a few of them posted and tagged her profile last year right after she passed away so I figured it was safe. Well, I had TWO people who knew her message me asking what happened, so...that was fun.
In lighter news, our bonuses paid out today and this is the first payday with our new salary. After tax it will be an extra $360/month!
We have TWO plans this weekend which is big for us. Dinner tomorrow night with two other couples, one of which H knows the husband through work and the other couple is friends with that couple. And then Sunday brunch with niece & SIL. Only looking forward to that one because of yummy food lol.
Last night my parents watched DS so H and I could go on a date. It was so nice to eat without factoring in DS' feeding challenges, wander target without looking at the toys and take a 20 minute drive and chat all without interruption.
Tomorrow my parents are watching DS so H, my oldest sister and I can watch a movie together all in one sitting at our house. We've done that once in the last 4+ years and it involved me staying up until almost midnight which is really late for me.
Sunday is egg hunts and lunch at my parents' house.

Tomorrow I’m trampling through the woods for 6 hours with a bunch of archery kids. I really don’t want to, but I know I’ll enjoy it once I make myself get out there. They’re good kids.
I had another interview late yesterday afternoon. It didn’t go well, they couldn’t understand that I currently work for a nonprofit and how a nonprofit works. They asked if I actually do full accounting, and where does the money go since we don’t make a profit.

H’s coworker made cookies that she was apparently very proud of, but bless her heart those things are burnt to a crisp. H politely brought them home “for DS” so he wouldn’t have to joke any more down in front of her.

I would be very blinky guy at someone who is at an interviewing people level of business who didn't understand what non-profit means.

Yes, this BIL is married to my sister.
As a family though, we were pretty close to his father. He spent holidays and things with us.
Patsy Baloney, DD2 will be 13 on Easter. Happy Easter birthday to you!
It’s a great day to be born! Happy official entry into teendom to your daughter!
This makes me think of my friend’s dad, he was born on Easter and he died on Easter, but didn’t die on his bday. Happy bday Pony and sweetchix DD!
S/O Easter, I am hosting for about 12 on Sunday and for some reason am not as manic as I usually at this point when I host. Maybe it’s because I took today off from work since DD doesn’t have school. After lunch we are going to a friend’s house to decorate eggs.

As a CPA for nonprofit....please don't go work for these morons.

LOL. "In my pocket, of course!"
wildrice, what color are you painting your living room? I've spent the last 3 weeks painting closet doors and trim white. I did the "outward facing" doors and trim 3 years ago when we redid our flooring and finally decided to get the closets done. I also repainted our guest bedroom "Soft Chamois" by Benjamin Moore. That room has my old orange/honey oak bedroom furniture from when I was growing up and gold/brass frames on all of the art, so this heavy cream color looks really lovely. And now I'm finishing our master bedroom; it's "Light Pewter" by BM. I'm pretty "meh" about it - I was desperate to lighten the room up so it's great for that, but it's otherwise just pretty boring. I'm hoping once I get the artwork back up I'll like it more, but even if I don't, the main goal was to un-cave the room and this color is accomplishing that, so, I guess it's fine.
TR, I can't believe it's been a year since your cousin passed. Seems like just a few months ago. *hugs*

Liking for the archery part....my kids love archery and it's so awesome that you're willing to help these kids out.
Not liking in relation to what happened to the interview, it sounds like it wouldn't have been a good fit anyways. On to bigger and better.

Tomorrow is my birthday and I made plans with my sister for lunch, which I am excited about. I also made plans with a bunch of friends for happy hour and now I’m wishing I didn’t. I am sure it will be great once I am there, but the introvert in me is getting anxious about it.
My son hit a walk off in his baseball game and I am obsessed with watching the video, the hit was perfect and his and his team’s excitement was awesome!

The two stores I've actually been to in the last couple of weeks didn't have any Easter egg dye, so we probably won't get to do that this year. We did the shaving cream dye last year, but the color didn't really stick to them, so even though the kids had fun doing it, it was kind of a bust. I don't boil our eggs because no one in our house likes hard boiled eggs, but we eat the crap out of them in other ways, so we usually just dye raw eggs.... may that's why the color didn't stick? I'm not sure we have any shaving cream left, though.
Dd's bff ordered her prom dress on Amazon and it hasn't shipped yet so I am taking her dress shopping tomorrow. Dd and I went last week with a different group of girls, but bff said she wasn't going to go to prom if her dress didn't come so I said I would take her.

walkoffs and the celebrations after are one of my favorite parts of the game! Way to go!

We always just used food dye and vinegar. The directions should be on the box. The color should stick on raw eggs. You do boil the water but it normally cools while dying and worked fine. I don’t think it would cook the eggs at any rate.
We declined family Easter and instead going to a brunch with our friends. I am so excited to not have to drive in traffic for hours and be around H's sister!!

Ours is BM's Violet Dusk! Which sounds more purple than it actually is - I think it looks more like a very light, clean blue in our house. Our walls are actually currently a grey that looks very similar to Light Pewter. I don't hate the color and probably would have just left it, but the people who sold us our house had it painted right before listing it and they used the cheapest paint possible apparently, and it has NOT held up well. So this refresh has not only brightened up the room, but also is making it look a lot less beat up. I did half the room 2 weeks ago, so I just have 2 walls to do tomorrow. I hope it goes fast, painting is so time consuming!
I bet Soft Chamois is really pretty! My bedroom is French Macaroon which is also a cream, and I love it.
