I was hoping to sleep in this morning, but our neighbor’s dog was outside barking nonstop for about 10 minutes straight just before 8, so I was up. Annoyed.
Did a pretty tough workout, went to Home Depot to look for some plants, and then FI and I started to assemble our new deck furniture. He was hungry and being a little whiny about it and of course it started raining, so we made it through getting half of one chair put together before I lost my shit and tapped out. This is going to be a terrible experience, lol. I am seriously considering trying to find someone to put this together for us. I don’t know if we’ll make it through this. (to be clear, I am severely exaggerating. But it is definitely going to result in arguments.)
Now I’m sitting on the couch with a drink and waiting for DoorDash to deliver my food. I’m done.
Ugh we requested a 3pm check-in, not guaranteed and room wasn’t ready, ok fine. Normal checking is at 4. I had Grand plans for a nap then shower before dinner and the concert. It’s almost 5 and our room still isn’t ready. I’m about to nap here in the lobby lol.
DH just saw in a flyer that the hose reel he bought went on sale for $50 cheaper, and ran out to get his price adjustment. So obviously I made myself a second cosmo and am sitting outside in the sun enjoying it in peace and quiet.

It's prom night! My son's super shy girlfriend is here. She was asking me (through him) about the boutonniere and bouquet traditions (she goes to a different school) and I asked if she wanted to make them. She said yes. I panicked and bought out a local market of flowers. She's being adorable with them and now I am making her do the centerpiece for dinner. My son just started sneezing and sniffing and is clearly super allergic to something in the mix. Whoops.

Tomorrow is my actual living nightmare.
I have to read 250 names out loud (think graduation-type ceremony) but I will get the names handed to me as I read them. Handwritten on an index card. By someone in their 70s. The audience will be ~600 and they will care if the names are wrong. And it's going to be like 90 degrees.
We had DS' 6th birthday party today. It was super low key with 5 adult members of my extended family (DS' grandparents, great grandma & two of his aunts). H made an excellent chocolate cake. It was delicious.
Then someone took my cart at the grocery store and I think I must have glared because we crossed paths in produce and she apologized. Of course I told her "no worries there are plenty of carts" and smiled. But still... Hmmph.
Someone took my cart at Costco today. It already had several things in it! I eventually went back to the front and got a new cart because I couldn't find mine anywhere. After I gathered all the things I had already gathered, I saw that whoever took it had put it back (kind of) where I had left it. I was so freaking annoyed. I did the right thing and put the duplicates back where they belonged, but omg. Just freaking pay attention people and don't steal carts!

We have mosquitoes in our house and they are driving me nuts. They either don’t bite my H or he doesn’t reacts to bites, but I have SO MANY BITES. I woke up this morning and found a new one on my eyelid. Cute. Anyway, the pest guy is supposed to be coming Wednesday so I this morning bought everything Home Depot sold for use indoors. I already see a couple dead ones so it’s clearly working. But OMG I am so itchy!
And yes, I’m sure it’s mosquitoes bc I see them and I’m killing them. But omg the pest guy better be able to do something about them bc I cannot keep being this itchy.

I accidentally took someone else's cart when I was 6 weeks pp. The cart owner was pretty upset with me (I didn't get very far away before she noticed). I was so embarrassed and apologetically told her I had a newborn at home so was very low on sleep.

More than one sounds like a nightmare. If we get one, it's in the summer. I sit on the couch with bare my legs stretched out and I gently blow air on them. The skeeter is attracted to CO2, and once they land on my leg, SMACK!

FWIW, I wouldn't have been a jerk if I had seen it.
Honestly, I was mostly so annoyed because this happened once before at Costco and it ended up being an employee who chastised me for leaving my cart unattended. I was very WTF about the whole thing. Like, duh, I'm leaving my cart there. This place is fucking packed and it's more efficient for everyone to have one less giant cart in the way! So when this happened, I thought it was the same thing at first.

Can they whisper the names in your ear as they hand you the card? That’s what I do! It makes it so much easier. Good luck!

My H and I once tried to put up curtain rods and hang curtains together. After that I swore to hire out any home project because it would be cheaper then a divorce lawyer 😂 we've been through major life events with less fighting and hard feelings then simple home projects bring out.
I couldn't sleep and filled out an application for a puppy tonight. Weirdly it is roughly the same time of night Nia passed several weeks ago. Anyway, Mom is a lab mix of all kinds of things but it's a little floofy and has a sweet face. We probably won't be considered because we didn't have a prior app with the organization on file but it feels like a step.

I have season tickets to the Broadway series of shows at our local theater. One of the shows is To Kill A Mockingbird, which was one of my all-time favorite books, and one I used to teach. I originally asked my ds if he would go with me, thinking that since he's in 7th grade and not the best student, it would give him a leg up on when he eventually has to read it for school. I also encouraged him to read it beforehand and tried to get him to read it with me and gave him my copy with all my 'teacher' notes in it, but he refused to read it, and after seeing Hamilton as a family he decided he didn't really want to see another show again any time soon. I get it, they aren't really his thing. DD then said she'd like to go with me. I was like, you're a little young for it, but ok, I'd like to spend the day with you. She also had no interest in reading it beforehand or watching the movie or anything. Then the show was yesterday, and it's the first sunny, hot day we've had here in forever, and I call her in from playing outside to get ready to go to the 2 PM show, and she throws a tantrum that she doesn't want to stop playing with the neighbors to go. At this point I was like tough, I don't have time to find someone else to go with me and you said you wanted to go, so you're going. She did go and enjoyed it, although I did have to explain a LOT of it to her because she didn't even know what the KKK or lynching was, or why Tom Robinson saying he felt sorry for Mayella Ewell would be such a crime, etc., but it was a good learning experience for her and we enjoyed our day after all, but man, why do my kids have to make everything such a process???
And then we got home to find out that ds had gotten into a fight with the girl next door, and her dad had apparently told her to tell him not to play over there anymore, so I had to text the dad to find out what happened. He had actually just said he wanted to talk to ds about the rules of playing at their house before he played there again (because ds threw something while over there), but now he and I are going to meet and talk about how ds and this girl keep fighting before we talk with the kids too and try to help them find a way to play nicely together, but we didn't actually schedule a time to meet to have this conversation, and the weather is supposed to be nice again today, so I know the kids are going to want to play again today, so I basically spent all night worrying about this conversation just because I'm anxious in general and I couldn't sleep and I just want to get it over with but I don't want to initiate it because I'm awkward and I hate this.

We all rode our bikes to town yesterday for lunch and to each get a book at the bookstore. It was a beautiful day, high of 80, and a nice break from all the rain that will return Monday along with highs only in the 50s. But....DH and I totally forgot sunscreen. Luckily the kids are OK, but my arms are burnt to a crisp. I hurt so bad. I'm slathering on the aloe and taking pain reliever, but it hurts to move. My helmet must have shaded my face, because that's OK, it's just my arms, but they are so so bad. DS2 and DD's school is having an event this afternoon and I already offered to take them and 2 of their friends. After that we're going home and I'm laying down and DH will take over the rest of the day. He took good care of me last night and I could hear him telling the kids to not rough house near me and bump into me.
maudefindlay - ouch! I remember my last really terrible sunburn from a drizzly day at the beach. The next day at work was torture. I’m sorry you’re hurting.
omg the concert venue last night was my worst nightmare. And if I don’t get COVID, I should be studied. So. Many. People.
But the Turnpike Troubadours were awesome and the energy was nuts because people have been waiting 3 years to see them. They cancelled their 2019 tour when the lead singer went to rehab or something and they just got back together.
The difference in my grandma's ability to communicate (dementia) and eat (lost lots of teeth/can't remember to wear her dentures) is such a stark contrast from even just Christmas 2021 and between DS' April birthday party last year and this year... it's like night and day.

Well if the mosquitoes aren’t enough to ruin my weekend, maybe a sprained ankle on top of that will do it 🤬 No idea how I did it but I had to cut my run short bc of pain. I didn’t step wrong or do anything different but damn it hurts. I wrapped it, I’m elevating it, I took ibuprofen and I am determined it will be better quickly. But I’m pretty unhappy with myself for this, even tho I certainly didn’t do it on purpose. 😭
I scored a great light fixture for my front room in my Buy Nothing group and was all intent on replacing it myself. I can’t get the one that’s there down! So after DH and I both tried to get it down, I texted the electrician. At least the fixture was free?
I started coming down with a cold on Friday while I was working from home. I had to skip a bridal shower and lunch with my in-laws. Today I’m feeling better, and I have some curbside pickups. But there went my weekend!

H mowed yesterday and we went to an outdoor party last night. I forgot to my allergy pill once we got home. I’m miserable today. I took 1/2 pill to help, but now I feel out of it.
It’s going to be a lazy day. My neighbors invited us over later for cake and an egg hunt. H and I might run to the store for things to grill. We will see how the the day goes.
Today's the last day of Spring break and then back to the grind tomorrow. We had a good week off, though. I took DD to a neighborhood clothing swap this morning. We got rid of a whole bag of clothes and she found a couple items to bring home. Nothing that special, but hopefully she can get some use out of them. i want to order pizza tonight as a last fun thing before back to work/ school.
