I took this week off work. My birthday is Tuesday. Kid's is Thursday. Had plans for a trip to Boston, tickets to a Paw Patrol thing there. Had phenomenal plans to bake and relax while kid was at school and prep for the big party this weekend.
Just got the exposure call. He can't go to school this week and he may end up missing all the birthday stuff we had planned.
I am feeling very, very sorry for myself and crabby.
Christmas was ruined because he was exposed and now birthdays.

Nooo sproctopus! I'm crossing my fingers he stays healthy and that you guys still get to have plenty of fun.
My poor doggy isn't doing well. It's been hard dealing with her physical and mental decline, but I left the vet on Thursday feeling positive with a supplement to help her dementia and a painkiller for her back legs. The past two nights I've been woken up by her senile pacing, and she keeps slipping and not being able to stand up. She's with my ex this week, so I'm looking forward to decent sleep and hoping that things will improve as the meds kick in, but I feel pretty defeated. Having to wash her pee-soaked bed and clean up poop from an overnight accident this morning didn't help.
H started feeling cruddy this afternoon. He's currently sleeping but a covid test is in his immediate future. Thankfully we have a stock of them since local case counts have been way down and we've all been healthy lately. We actually have a busy few days this week including DS' birthday on Wednesday so hopefully it's just a minor (man) cold.
ETA: one covid test negative. He'll test again tomorrow.
Ughhhh, sproctopus. I just saw this. I'm so sorry! I hope you're able to salvage the weekend plans. If everyone is negative by Friday, I'd probably carry on. Also, he's so flipping cute.
It was gorgeous out today, but I have a headache, so I stayed in and did my usual restorative yoga and made rice crispy treats. It's supposed to start raining again tomorrow, which is annoying. I'm ready to drag out my deck chair and do some outdoor reading.
isabel, we really enjoyed the movie! The music was fun, too! My boys made it through about an hour and ten minutes before they started bouncing around. I was thankful they lasted that long. The last few minutes were filled with me telling them to stop, sit down, be still, etc.
I'm so sorry sproctopus! That really sucks, what terrible timing.
We've had a rough couple of weeks, and we finally had a really nice day today. The weather was absolutely perfect. We went to a local farm to play with animals, and then ate dinner outside and made s'mores. We spent ~3 hours in the backyard this afternoon. We're probably all going to be sunburned, but oh well. DD was so happy to see all of her summer toys make an appearance.

I was pretty annoyed that Lucy and H went out to the punk rock flea market today. They go out shopping all the time and I get stuck home with the boys. But i got a really good rest/nap with Joey, david played independently for once, and AND? She bought me Purple Rain on vinyl!

sproctopus Cutest Typhoid Mary ever! I'm so sorry for you and all those with younger kids, I'd be upset too. I hope if you can't have fun this week that you have a weekend coming up where you can celebrate.
It's prom night! My son's super shy girlfriend is here. She was asking me (through him) about the boutonniere and bouquet traditions (she goes to a different school) and I asked if she wanted to make them. She said yes. I panicked and bought out a local market of flowers. She's being adorable with them and now I am making her do the centerpiece for dinner. My son just started sneezing and sniffing and is clearly super allergic to something in the mix. Whoops.
Look what I made!!! Needle felting is witchery. I made this in 2 hours and when I walked in the room I didn't know what needle felting was. It's truly the most magical of crafts - you take wisps of wool and stab them, stab them, STAB THEM and then they become something beautiful.
“With sorrow—for this Court, but more, for the many millions of American women who have today lost a fundamental constitutional protection—we dissent,”

Literally - all you do is stab.
This is cool! What type of place did you take this class at? Wonder if they are offered near me.

Having said that, I am the LEAST creative person in the world - and TRUELY I could have done this with an amazon starter kit and some youtube. The starter kits tend to be small cute animals for $30 or so.
I went as a therapy experiment to do something out of my wheelhouse. It was a single night class with no experience required, which is why I picked it.

This is making me laugh so hard. I'm glad you had fun. That flower is really nice!

So just to be clear - all.you.do.is.stab
Thanks! I was looking at some of the kits and some online videos. I like in person classes even if it's something easy. But yes, I've heard it's stab, stab, stab. Ta-da! Lol.
