But Elise Stefanik turned that definition on its head. The third-ranking Republican in the House of Representatives tweeted that “The White House, House Dems, & usual pedo grifters” are out of touch because they are okay with “sending pallets of formula to the southern border.”
This was an intriguing accusation. Stefanik seemed to be arguing that Democratic pedophiles wanted to make sure that immigrant children don’t starve. My initial interpretation of that attack was that Stefanik thought that Palletgate was part of Democrats’ secret grooming effort. She seemed to be suggesting the libs wanted to feed the immigrant children for selfish purposes. Maybe in the hopes that when these immigrant children grow up they will repay the favor by becoming nonbinary predators. Or perhaps, as Stefanik has argued before, she was worried that these undocumented immigrant children will grow up to “replace” the God-fearing, salt-of-the-earth natives who vote Republican.
But when pressed on what she meant in her accusation, Stefanik’s office offered a different interpretation: They claimed that the “pedos” Stefanik was referring to were children. And that the Democrats were grifting on their behalf. Hence “pedo grifter.”
Stefanik's such a piece of shit. i wish it was her seat that was eliminated in the redistricting.
My parents live in her district. My brother does too now, come to that.
Michigan gubernatorial race is gonna be crazy. There's been reporting that some GOP candidates had invalid signatures to get on the ballot. Tonight it was reported that it's 5 out of 10 GOP candidates including the top 3 front runners. The Betsy DeVos funded candidate is cleared to be on the ballot though.

I'm not going to post links, but things are crazy in England. You may have read my past posts about "Partygate", where there have been investigations by the Met Police into allegations that parties were taking place during lockdown at 10 Downing Street (our gov't). And yes, they have handed out over 100 fines, including 1 to the PM.
Because he lied about there being no parties and him not going to parties at No. 10, he should resign. He's not. That is the first horrible thing.
We're having more and more pictures come to light of parties that others have been fined for but our PM has not been - AND HE'S SEEN HOLDING DRINKS.
So, not only should he resign but the Met are showing now that THEY are corrupt.
Our media has been complicit, overall (also owned by rich white men).
It's a bit scary that we have a corrupt gov't who have corrupted our top police force and we can't seemingly do anything about it. I'm wondering if an uprising is the only thing that will work and whether the English public have it in them to do so. (note, the Scottish are almost ready to leave the UK, the N. Irish are getting there and the Welsh have had enough, so that's why I'm stating the English gov't and people in this).

I get irrationally irritated whenever I see a Perry ad on our local channel. I love how he didn't even submit the 15k signatures needed (9k of which they're saying aren't valid), and he's still pouting and blaming "that Dem AG". Dude, you can't even cheat right! I shouldn't be surprised when this is the same guy whose first TV ad bragged that he was going to fight to get our schools open, when in fact they've been open for a year.
Boris Johnson is changing the rules to let ministers avoid resigning if they break the ministerial code, allowing them to apologise or temporarily lose their pay instead.
The prime minister, who is facing claims of breaching the code, published a policy statement on Friday saying it is “disproportionate to expect that any breach, however minor, should lead automatically to resignation or dismissal”.

What ONE STATE has never sent a woman to Congress?
I wouldn't have guessed Vermont, either.
With a rare opening in its congressional delegation, the Green Mountain State is poised to lose its distinction as the only state that has never been represented by a woman in Washington, AP's Wilson Ring reports from Montpelier. Three women — Lt. Gov. Molly Gray, Senate President Pro Tempore Becca Balint and Sianay Chase Clifford, a social worker and former Capitol Hill aide — are among the Democrats competing in a Aug. 9 primary. It's for a seat being vacated by the state's lone U.S. House member, Democrat Peter Welch, who's trying to move to the Senate.
The two Republican candidates registered to run in the midterm elections are also women. Between the lines: Given Vermont's liberal reputation, it might seem strange that it would be the last state to send a woman to Congress.
But Vermont's tiny population makes it one of a handful of states with the smallest possible congressional delegation — two senators and one House member. And like many states, Vermont has traditionally reelected its incumbents, who have happened to be white men who have ended up serving for extraordinarily long stretches. Trivia answer: In 2018, Vermont became the last state without female representation in Congress when Mississippi Republican Cindy Hyde-Smith was appointed to the Senate.
An Associated Press analysis of early voting records from data firm L2 found that more than 37,000 people who voted in Georgia’s Democratic primary two years ago cast ballots in last week’s Republican primary, an unusually high number of so-called crossover voters. Even taking into account the limited sample of early votes, the data reveal that crossover voters were consequential in defeating Trump’s hand-picked candidates for secretary of state and, to a lesser extent, governor.
