My friends tried to get me into this last year and…I don’t get it. Someone post some of the better ones please! I’ve entered the tag and I see like a few dances, but nothing particularly entertaining. I feel like it’s always shocking to me that young ladies look “like this” These days. I mean they are flawless. Where are the flaws And the normal looking people lol?
Same. Searching the web version of tiktok is just not as robust as the app appears to be. Like, you can’t search hashtag without and account. And dammit, Twitter isn’t even linking highlights.
Sorority rush is a thing at lots of colleges, but not to the same level as it is at the southern schools where there are a lot of legacies (women whose family members were members of a certain sorority). Membership in sororities is very much a social status thing, especially in the south.
If someone doesn't get a bid, they don't join a sorority. They can go through rush again the next time, or they may be offered what's called an "open bid" which is a bid that is given out to women without them having to go through rush. At my school, a lot of the athletes joined sororities through open bids because their sports commitments kept them from going through rush.
For real, they just can’t join and keep living in the dorms or wherever. I am fascinated because my college didn’t even have sports much less Greek life.

It seems so cruel. I mean, I knew about sprouted and rush to some extend, but how awful for a girl who wants to be involved and she isn’t picked. It’s like high school on steroids, no thanks.
THE UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA’S SORORITIES WERE OFFICIALLY DESEGREGATED LESS THAN A DECADE AGO.
I don’t think anyone watching would be surprised by that at all. The whole concept is some bizarre relic that I can scarcely believe still exists. I can see the appeal at HBCUs but this is something else.
It kind of reminds me of a story my mom told me about how when she went to high school in the early-mid 1970s — a friend told her she was going to try out for cheerleading and my mom laughed in her face. She completely thought her friend was making a joke because the idea of cheering for the boys’ teams (which is all they did) sounded like some 1950s throwback and she couldn’t believe it was still around.

WHAT
....
WHAT
What was happening before they were "officially desegregated"??!! what is happening now?? I am certain i don't want to know. I regret knowing that this is even a thing that people are into watching.
I am so curious about this. I don’t have tik tok but kind of want it to see this. On the other hand, we just told our 12 year old she is too young for Tik tok and there is nothing good on there. Getting the app now seems like it would be kind of hypocritical.😅
