audette , I had my PCP appointment... <snip> But… yay?
Yay for not having to fight for it!
I fully admit I am working towards eliminating T3 from my treatment, but... that is me. Everything I have seen/heard and thyroid stuff is that it can be very individual to treat. Everyone needs something a bit different.
Yeah. I totally get that it’s case by case. Might help, might not. Might just be my new fucking normal. But, I did what to try and I’m glad she was willing to. And I’m glad she brought it up, not me. Just a weird thing there, where I don’t want to appear too demanding and like I don’t trust her. But, she also knows I am heavy into research, and probably could guess that I already had read whatever studies I could on it. Because that’s the way I am.
Over the past two days our truck and clothes dryer have both shit the bed. I was able to diagnose the dryer, and a replacement heating element has been ordered. The truck....no idea. Might just be a sensor failure, might have been a catastrophic failure. HARD TO SAY.Still waiting for it to get dropped off at the shop by the tow truck so they can look at it because when the warning lights "SHUT OFF ENGINE IMMEDIATELY" i ain't driving the damn thing. Oh were we 75 miles from home in the middle of a literal goddamn cornfield when this happened? YES WE WERE!
I'd like there to NOT be a third thing to round this out. K? k.
We just got our first estimate for solar. The good news is we were right thinking we have a great house to go solar. Huge expanse of low pitch, south facing, unobstructed roof in the back - we should be able the generate 102% of our annual electricity usage, and have room for expansion. But the price tag 😬😬😬 Logically, I know it’s the right thing to do, for many reasons. But, a bit of an ouch. I have this weird thing about spending money, so I’m going to look at a helox, bc I don’t want to mess with my security blanket.

I'm experiencing imposter syndrome at the moment.
I got a LinkedIn message from a recruiter about a senior-level graphic designer position in an industry simliar to the one I work in now. We went over my background, and she asked about salary. I asked what their budget was, and the LOW end would be a 30% bump for me. I have a phone screen with the org's HR on Monday, but I'm feeling panicky, like I'm not qualified for this position and they're going to laugh me off the phone.

redheadbaker, that's awesome! Go get it! From my observations, it's pretty common for people to be able to get a big $$$ bump by going to a new company, and then that becomes their new salary norm. Good luck!
You’ve got this redheadbaker. I’m sure the nerves will be strong, but I can assure that the recruiter would not put you through for an interview unless your skills/experienced match the position needs. Do some power poses and take a deep breath before your interview - you’ll do great!
A coworker just told me that the CDC updated shingles vaccine requirements to include immunocompromised under 50. Yay!! My doctor had told me to make an appointment for my 50th birthday. But…. I might could tomorrow.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

Go go go go!!!! You're good enough, nobody will laugh at you! You might not be the right fit, blah blah blah but you are 100% somebody who ought to be in the running. You've been undervalued for a while, and it's an employee market. Get those dollars.
Today was supposed to be my first election to vote in Canada, but h and I tested positive for covid yesterday ☹️ It’s too late for any kind of absentee ballot. We have advanced polling options, but I was busy earlier in the week and figured it would be fine to just go Saturday. Never again. I’ll be first in line when advanced polling opens.

I realize this is an entirely different country so different rules, but I'd call whoever the body that governs elections and see if you have any options to still vote.
My state has a law that allows someone to literally bring you a ballot and return it for you if you are in this type of situation. It's been on the books here for *years* but most people had no idea about it till covid hit and this was a more widespread concern.

I looked briefly last night, but there doesn’t seem to be any provisions for voting if you are unable to attend the polling place in person on Election Day. Tons of options for mail in ballots and advanced voting, but those dates are passed.
As excited as I was to vote, it’s not going to be a close race. It’s all local elections - mayor (unopposed), 6 councillors (out of 7 options), and 1 school trustee (2 options). There is a clear outlier in both the councillor and trustee races so it’s wildly unlikely they will win. At most I might have abstained from voting for the mayor, but that doesn’t change the fact that we’re stuck with him for another 4 years.
I had quite the weekend. Friday night we went to downtown KC for a big fall festival that we'd been given passes for. I wanted to go Saturday instead but because of scheduling I decided we should just go Friday. Regrets, I have them.... We turned off of the street with all the bright carnival rides and I was literally thinking "this street is kind of dark" when I completely missed the curb on the sidewalk and went down hard. Twisted my ankle and landed on my right knee. I had to sit there for a minute and catch my breath before getting up. Almost passed out. Was starting to feel a bit better when I realized my shoe felt really tight and my ankle was swelling up. Our car was like a 10 minute walk away, back through the packed carnival. I was laughing and crying at the absurdity of the situation. My husband flagged down someone working the festival and she radio'd the first aid team. They eventually found a wheelchair and then wheeled me to the parking garage through this huge crowd that was a mix of families, Lizzo fans headed to the concert, and the Westboro Baptist protestors standing with hateful signs in the middle of a huge carnival. I don't think I've ever been more embarrassed.
Xray confirmed it is not broken and I'm doing much better now (knee hurts worse and I have a giant bruise).
The EMTs were worried that I was headed to the Lizzo concert and potentially spent $$$ on a ticket I couldn't use any more. That is the only thing that could have made it worse!
(((( pugz,)))) I hope you are on the mend quickly.
And audette, I have now been on T3 for a week, and I actually notice a major difference. Like, all the crap I’ve been complaining about for a year or so is gone. I hope it lasts.
Today is my fifteen year anniversary at work. My job has evolved a lot over the years and I mostly enjoy what I do and really like the people that I work with. At the same time, I feel like I have become so entrenched in our little corner of research that I couldn't really do anything else well.
Today also marks 8 years since we closed on our house. This is by far the longest I have ever lived in one place. Growing up, we moved constantly both in terms of houses and towns. I feel like I have gone in the complete opposite direction by trying to be stable as possible, perhaps at the cost of new experiences. MH really wants to move out of state, but I think that's because he's essentially been here his whole life.
Oh, and we had our 10th wedding anniversary last month. Also very different than the marriages I was witness to growing up.

Oh, that's awesome!!! I hope it lasts, too!
I have the go-ahead from my doc to adjust back to just plain T4, and a slightly bumped amount of that for the start of it. Hoping it makes life simpler without any symptoms getting worse.
Wednesday, I get to go and (likely) get diagnosed with another auto-immune disease. Fun times... Here's hoping they don't come in threes...

My niece is 26 years old but I want to put the @ symbol just to be aware for others.
She works for an outdoor sportsman shop that sells guns and ammo. The following story happened yesterday.
She was working the registers yesterday when a mid 20's gentleman came thru her line with a cart full of ammunition. She was first thrown off by the pure volume he had and thought the store had limits on how much one person could buy because there apparently is an ammo shortage. So she called her manager to ask about the limits and her manager said "all limits have been lifted"
Ok, so she felt a little weird about it but since her mgr said it was ok, she started ringing him up. He mentioned he was an employee at another location and would be using his employee discount. Since he said that, she kind of thought OK he must have gotten approval from someone. It turned out to be about $2,500 worth of ammo.
When she went to enter his employee number it would not work. She knew by the # sequence that he was recently hired. This set off her radar and she decided to "play dumb" with him and instead call the store security guy. I guess she told the customer to hold on, she needed to get a mgr to "fix the problem" and ran to the security office to get store security involved.
Another mgr got involved to ask this customer/new employee about when he started at the other store and just kind of general chit chat to keep him occupied while security called the local police.
Come to find out this guy just got hired 7 days ago at the other location but has not even done his new hire orientation because he kept having excuses as to why different dates and times would not work for him.
ALSO find out he was trying to buy 3 guns at the store he was hired at on Friday but for some reason, his application with the ATF was denied for some reason. According to my niece, the store only gets an approval or denied, it does not get a reason as to why denied.
So the local police arrived and pulled the guy aside and talked with him at great length. Apparently, he was very calm and all but would not answer the police about why he was buying so much damn ammunition. He didn't break any laws so they couldn't arrest him for anything but I guess he is now on some location watch list.
He left the store without any ammunition.
The police talked with my niece at great length and thanked her profusely for how she handled things and said she very well may have stopped a very bad situation.
I made another contractor mad today. A subcontractor for Comcast drilled through and collapsed the sewer line at my bff's house on Friday. The company’s number on Google is disconnected AND they don’t have a phone number of their website but I found another number and called it. The owner answered and had the “manager on site” call me. They tried to repair it today without getting a permit and inspection from the city.
The "manager on site" told me that they’ve done sewer line repairs “lots.” Well, no shit, you keep fucking drilling through sewer lines. (They did it to someone else on the same street.) Then he told me that they’d get the city to inspect it. Cool. THEN he called me back and said that the city doesn’t inspect repairs done on private property. YES, THEY FUCKING DO ASSHOLE! But he said that a 3rd party company would inspect and certify the repair. I asked how and where that certification would be recorded and he said that the company would send it to him. That's not how this works, fucker. RAGE!!!!
I thankfully had a very helpful 311 agent and person who answered the phone at Wastewater. I got a call back from a wastewater inspector who was like “yeah…. they’re not doing it right.” I gave the inspector the contractor’s info and he called and gave the okay to continue the repair so the tenants can use the plumbing but that they had to get a plumber to file for a permit and the city to inspect it before they fill it in. If they don’t, the city will refuse to give them permits for their future work in Denver.
At the start of our conversation I told him that I have more experience with sewer lines than most people. He didn’t believe me. He might now.
I'm working from the waiting room while H is in surgery. They've got a little section set up with a desk and chairs. Very convenient since I have a massive spreadsheet to keep me busy for a bit.
Except... two people have come up to ask if I work here. And one man asked me if I was the coffee lady 😒
I look a hot mess right now. Especially compared to the very nice, well put together woman who is actually sitting at the reception desk! WTF do people think I work here?
Plumbing/sewer repair contractors will go out of their way to not get permits. I can't tell you how often the city here threatens them with losing their license when they're caught. Also, the work is never done up to code. It's frustrating, and most people don't realize that almost all sewer and/or repair work requires a permit/inspection.

I tried to warn him that he fucked up the wrong sewer line! lol
PSA: Please get a service line rider and water backup rider added to your home owners insurance ASAP! Most homeowners insurance will not cover a sewer line without the service line rider. I have had multiple sewer line fiascos in my life and have learned this the hard way. If you own a rental home, the last time I checked the only insurance company that offers a service line rider for rental properties is Hippo.

I'm officially ridiculous. We're going to Disney World next month and I have discovered the world of Disney-inspired dresses on Etsy.
I now have Disney-ish dresses for every day of our trip that are loosely tied to the parks were going to be in. For example, I have an Obi Wan Kenobi-ish dress for the day we're going to be at Hollywood Studios, a Little Mermaid-ish one for a Magic Kingdom day, etc.

disney bounding is the only OMGDISNEY thing I am totally on board with. I love that it's a thing. Such fun outfits! When I worked places that didn't do costumes I always did a business casual costume and disneybounders had the best inspiration pics.
Given that you're wearing dresses to wander about a theme park I'm assuming you're not just trusting to the chafing gods - what's your go-to under dresses undergarment? I used to be a skimmies superfan, but haven't bought any in years now and I"m curious if there's something better out there.
