I'm officially ridiculous. We're going to Disney World next month and I have discovered the world of Disney-inspired dresses on Etsy.
I now have Disney-ish dresses for every day of our trip that are loosely tied to the parks were going to be in. For example, I have an Obi Wan Kenobi-ish dress for the day we're going to be at Hollywood Studios, a Little Mermaid-ish one for a Magic Kingdom day, etc.
disney bounding is the only OMGDISNEY thing I am totally on board with. I love that it's a thing. Such fun outfits! When I worked places that didn't do costumes I always did a business casual costume and disneybounders had the best inspiration pics.
Given that you're wearing dresses to wander about a theme park I'm assuming you're not just trusting to the chafing gods - what's your go-to under dresses undergarment? I used to be a skimmies superfan, but haven't bought any in years now and I"m curious if there's something better out there.
Skimmies and Snagtights.
If I need something more sturdy (which I might depending on how thin some of this fabric ends up being) I think I'll probably buy some old navy exercise shorts. I took a chance on fake skimmies from Amazon this summer and they're fine for the chafing aspect but are far less breathable than skimmies and snagtights so if it's hot, those are a no go.

I love my Woxer Baller boxer briefs!
TommyJohn used to have an AirInvisible slip short, but I can’t find it on their website right now. Super thin and light, but I have no idea how they’d hold up to a lot of walking.
I made another contractor mad today. A subcontractor for Comcast drilled through and collapsed the sewer line at my bff's house on Friday. The company’s number on Google is disconnected AND they don’t have a phone number of their website but I found another number and called it. The owner answered and had the “manager on site” call me. They tried to repair it today without getting a permit and inspection from the city.
The "manager on site" told me that they’ve done sewer line repairs “lots.” Well, no shit, you keep fucking drilling through sewer lines. (They did it to someone else on the same street.) Then he told me that they’d get the city to inspect it. Cool. THEN he called me back and said that the city doesn’t inspect repairs done on private property. YES, THEY FUCKING DO ASSHOLE! But he said that a 3rd party company would inspect and certify the repair. I asked how and where that certification would be recorded and he said that the company would send it to him. That's not how this works, fucker. RAGE!!!!
I thankfully had a very helpful 311 agent and person who answered the phone at Wastewater. I got a call back from a wastewater inspector who was like “yeah…. they’re not doing it right.” I gave the inspector the contractor’s info and he called and gave the okay to continue the repair so the tenants can use the plumbing but that they had to get a plumber to file for a permit and the city to inspect it before they fill it in. If they don’t, the city will refuse to give them permits for their future work in Denver.
At the start of our conversation I told him that I have more experience with sewer lines than most people. He didn’t believe me. He might now.
These chuckle fucks! They applied for the permit and got denied because they didn't have a licensed plumber. AND then they filled in the hole after I stopped by and took pictures. I told the guy from the city and he said that they're still working on getting the permit and that they'll dig out the hole again for the inspection. I'm livid. And really fucking tired.

I was just looking at Woxers. Do they stay in place?

Yes. I have large thighs and like the longer ones. Boy short styles always ride up my legs, but the longer styles (specifically the baller) stay in place. The waist band is amazing and doesn’t bind. I do find I need to order a size larger than my normal size. For example, I’m a 16 and normally wear a L or XL, but in these I wear an XXL.
They’re also amazingly soft and comfy for sleeping in.

Excellent info. Have you tried the biker style?
I haven’t! I don’t they had that length when I purchased.
Plumbing/sewer repair contractors will go out of their way to not get permits. I can't tell you how often the city here threatens them with losing their license when they're caught. Also, the work is never done up to code. It's frustrating, and most people don't realize that almost all sewer and/or repair work requires a permit/inspection.
I tried to warn him that he fucked up the wrong sewer line! lol
PSA: Please get a service line rider and water backup rider added to your home owners insurance ASAP! Most homeowners insurance will not cover a sewer line without the service line rider. I have had multiple sewer line fiascos in my life and have learned this the hard way. If you own a rental home, the last time I checked the only insurance company that offers a service line rider for rental properties is Hippo.
My Homeowners policy has never offered this coverage historically, but when I was reading over my renewal documents last month I noticed that it was an option. I immediately called my agent and added the coverage. For only $60/yr it is WELL worth it.
H's surgery went very well yesterday 🥳 both doctors said their procedures were 100% successful. They should move him to a regular room today. And hopefully he can come home tomorrow 🤞
The cats were so unhappy with me when I got home last night. They don't realize how spoiled they are having servants who work from home 😅
ETA: and our wonderful neighbors pulled up our trash/recycling cans (we had set them out the night before) and hid a package that came while I was out (tucked it into the bushes). We didn't ask them to do that, but I got home so late and was so grateful I didn't have to deal with bringing up the cans.

My municipality actually offers a plan that covers the sewer line from your house to the street. It's $100/year. Might be another option for some people because I find it hard to believe we're the only one!
My stepfather had emergency surgery to amputate a toe last night. He was diagnosed with diabetes a few months ago and probably broke it after stubbing it pretty badly and, well, diabetes and broken foot bones often go together with no good outcomes. They have him on IV antibiotics too. Thankfully they didn't need to amputate more.
A coworker just told me that the CDC updated shingles vaccine requirements to include immunocompromised under 50. Yay!! My doctor had told me to make an appointment for my 50th birthday. But…. I might could tomorrow.
Quoting myself to update. I couldn’t get an appointment last week, so I made one for next Friday, and in the meantime, sent a message to my primary about it. And 🤬, she doesn’t think I qualify now. I would have 2-3 years ago, but should be “normal” today, but to ask oncology to be sure. From what my friend said, it’s like the Covid shot, and a self attestation, so I don’t need a doctor to sign a letter saying I need it, just my own ethics. So, I basically phrased a question to oncology asking if he thinks I can check the box. 🤞 I’m such a rule follower that I am regretting asking.

I thought they were recommendations, not restrictions. H is only 49 and got his just by making an appointment at the grocery store pharmacy. He didn’t ask his doctor or anything.
TR, I think you are right. I didn’t have to ask and don’t need a letter or anything. But I did ask, and then I was feeling 🥴 (totally a me and my head thing). But my oncologist had my back and told me to get it. So, appointment will be kept!
H is home!! And he's okay! First thing he wanted to do was shower 😅 and while I am trying not to hover, I don't feel comfortable being out of the house while he's in the shower, so I'm waiting to pick up his prescriptions until he's done.
The way I've reacted to this whole thing has surprised me. I kept it together on the outside, but inside I've been a nervous wreck. I blame CBT for putting me in touch with my feelings 😅
But he's home, and I'm relieved, and I need to try not to fuss and fret over him too much... lol
There's a massive avocado giveaway that is ongoing in south Philly. This seems very "Philly" but also, I guess the pandemic-related avocado-shortage is over. Avocado toast for everyone!

the comments i saw on fb being like, "but why aren't they going to a shelter or food pantry" and weirdly "what if you don't have a car" were giving me LOLs, first of all...dude, free is free? And the location is transit and cargo bike accessible so....huh?
And second I'd guess there is not a food pantry in the country who wouldn't be totally thrown for a loop to be handed a truck full of perishable goods.
The "what if you don't have a car" person is I'm sure somebody who I otherwise align with but, ummm, swing and a miss sir? You didn't actually look up the location, did you? he's probably from fishtown.
wawa, lol, yeah, people from Fishtown aren't going to FDR park.
I mean, *I'm* not going because I temporarily don't have a car (my H is away for a few days with our only vehicle), but I also live in the suburbs and a transit journey of 45+ minutes each way will cost more than buying my own avocados.
Also, Philabundance is based in South Philly and I'm sure this is way more avocados than even they can use. Those things are perishable!

wawa there's a food pantry in my city that definitely gives out fresh fruits & vegetables, but I bet even they'd be thrown for a loop with a truckload of something as perishable as an avocado.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

Our local food bank boxes are at least half fresh produce. I've helped repackage a few truck loads of carrots at a time. But usually it's things that can survive being bonked around a bit.
Well, I signed my contract to get solar panels. Yay! But… the sales guy sent me some forms and asked me to sign and email back. One has my SSN (tax form) and the other was a form to sign to authorize ACH for the deposit (and has blanks filled in for the other payments, too). I told him I will mail the tax form and a check for the deposit. And he hasn’t replied. And now im questioning myself. Like, do people just do this? And I being weird? But hell no am I signing a piece of paper and emailing it authorizing you to take multiple thousands from my bank account on an unknown date.
And, of course, being a sales guy, he is super responsive until I signed the contract. Like 30 minute response on the weekend. Now it’s been 7 hours and not even acknowledging my email.
