My poor dog. She had a partial tail amputation a little over a month ago and literally just got out of her cone the end of last week. Well, over the weekend she managed to rip one of her dew claws pretty bad and I'm pretty sure she's going to need to be put under to have it removed and yup, she'll be back in the cone. Waiting for the Vet to call me back now.
I had my sisters Baby Shower on Saturday and it turned out awesome. We did a Boho Theme and every thing was so pretty. I think that my sister really loved it.

I am happy to be at work to relax from my packed weekend. Friday was a shit show. It ended with a concert that helped make it bearable. Saturday we had a Halloween Kills movie party. Last night was Lizzo. It was so damn good! I love her energy.
Every Monday I think to myself that I should have taken of or called out. I'm always so unmotivated. And every Monday I run a team call so I kind of need to be online.
I made a batch of chili yesterday for my lunches this week. For dinner last night I tried a new recipe for Spicy Sriracha Chicken and it was FANTASTIC. Next time I'll add broccoli or sugar snap peas. Definitely adding that one to the rotation! www.plainchicken.com/spicy-sriracha-chicken-noodles/
@sameoldstory, that actually happened to one of my sweet angel dogs years ago, and luckily the vet was just able to wrap his foot/ankle area with gauze and a hard bandage that almost looked like a cast. He basically had a little boot on his paw for a few weeks. He HATED it and it was hilarious to watch him walk (he did get used to it fairly quickly though), but luckily he didn’t have to wear a cone at all. I hope it’s the same for your pup!

That is good to know. When she had her tail surgery she ripped off the bandage every chance she got. But strangely enough, I wrapped her paw in gauze and tape yesterday and she hasn't bothered with it at all. Hers is ripped really high up, but that would be amazing if she doesn't need to have it removed under anesthesia.
I am already thinking ahead to next weekend and our Disney trip in 10 days. Not working too much lol.
My sister and her kids are visiting this weekend, which I am excited about. Our schedule is jam packed and her kids are little so I think it will be chaotic. Then we leave next Wednesday for Disney. I have been making packing lists all morning.

We love that recipe in this house too! I make a triple batch and eat it for lunches the rest of the week. We add broccoli. So quick and easy.
I had SUCH a busy but fun weekend. Friday night I ushered Hamilton. Got to see the whole show, which of course was fabulous. Then Saturday we went to a beer festival at the zoo. The weather was absolutely perfect fall weather, the beers were good, the zoo was fun and the animals were out doing things in the nice weather, and it was fun to hang out with the friends we met up with. Then we got Indian takeout for dinner. Yesterday, my H and I went to our local NFL game and had a great time too. It was cloudy but the rain held off until after we were in our car going home! And we had leftover Indian food for dinner so I didn't even have to cook when we got home. I am tired today and feel very disorganized (we have tons of laundry and no groceries) but I can't complain because it was such a good weekend.
I got my student evaluations for the course I taught recently, and they were really good! Only one person out of 10 selected "neither agree nor disagree" for most things, everyone else strongly agreed that I was great. I actually got a note from the program director today saying I got one of the most glowing evaluations she's ever seen in the program. So that made me feel SO good. I was kind of nervous about teaching a graduate level class - imposter syndrome stuff. So it was really validating to know that not only did I not fail, I actually did a really good job. It was a lot of work but overall a really good experience, so I'm glad I'm going to keep teaching in future semesters.
I biffed something last week. Minor, but realized this morning that I should have taken a different approach. Not a huge thing, but of course I will beat myself up about it for a while today.
I decided to slip out and grab McDonald's breakfast. Got my breakfast, pulled away from the window, and realized they hadn't given me my card back. So I parked and went in, without a bra and in slippers. Thankfully, they were right there to hand it to me.
I stepped awkwardly yesterday afternoon at the landing of my split level house, rolled my ankle, and fell down the stairs. I'm fine, albeit sore, but my ankle is comically swollen today. I iced it twice and kept it elevated yesterday, so I imagine it would have been even worse. This would be the perfect excuse to work from my couch today, but I have so many reports to run that are so much easier with multiple screens. Boo, Mondays!

H has to take one of our cats to the vet. Our vet is walk in only, bc h is bumbling around like a nimrod who’s never met a cat before. He lost the cat for an hour. Guys. Our house is ridiculously small. On the edge of tiny house proportions for real. and then he located him but “couldn’t get him”. He’s next to my bed. What?
And does anyone know what a medium sized lump by an adult-but-not-quite senior cat’s tail might be? And why is it making him poop near but not inside the box? We don’t know exactly how old he is, but he came to live with us 7 years ago and at the time we suspected he was maybe a year or so old.
I slept like a baby Friday night but apparently that gave me the clarity to think about all the stuff I had to do in the next month. I slept 3 hrs last night if I was lucky and that’s after taking a sleep aid. I’m so stressed out. Selling and cleaning out someone else’s house is beyond frustrating.

I took DS to goalie skills last night and I forgot how much I hate driving on the highway in the dark and rain. Regular roads I am fine, but highway...nope.

I'm going to try this. My son is a reforming picky eater. He loves the frozen ramen from Costco and the only dipping sauce he will ever use is the sriracha from Chickfila. What kind of sriracha sauce do you use? Are ramen noodles just the Maruchen noodles from the supermarket? Thank you, these probably seem like stupid questions. LOL
I asked an applicant for references on Thursday, no response. Like, why apply and interview and then just not respond? Or just lie and say you're no longer interested.

@sameoldstory, do we have the same dog? My dog ALSO ripped his dew claw off this weekend, probably scratching at a fence. I tried to take him to my regular vet, but they said they couldn't see him until November 3. NOVEMBER 3. WTF? I then called the emergency vet and they said not to worry about it. But the nail was still hanging on by some threads, and I couldn't really tell how, so I called the emergency vet again this morning and they said bring him in. We did, and I was very concerned that he would need surgery to remove the whole nail. Well, crisis avoided, they just trimmed it up (it was just the nail, not the quick and not ripped into his paw at all), cut the rest of his nails, and I didn't even have to pay the emergency consult fee.
What a production! But he's back home, in a cone, all fixed up. Praise be.
notsopicky, I'm so sorry that your poor pup had the same injury
I took my dog to the Vet just a short while ago and luckily I hadn't fed her yet, because they kept her and are going to have to cut the nail under sedation because of how far up it is ripped. She did say that she's going to give her some good drugs afterwards at least. I just really, really hope that she doesn't have to go back in the cone again.
Today is a good day. What a weekend in Philadelphia. I love this city when everyone comes together - even the murders have gone down. Yesterday's game was like something out of a sports movie. I don't want it to end.

I make a very similar spicy steak ramen dish that my family loves and I think it’s from the same website lol. It does have a lot of heat so I only use a bit of hot sauce and stick to mainly soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce. I also add mushrooms and asparagus to mine.
I was in Puerto Rico for a long weekend for a friend’s birthday celebration this weekend. We did the bioluminescent bay kayaking which was extremely cool but also a complete comedy of errors with our group trying to kayak in the pitch dark through a narrow channel lined with mangroves. Thank goodness kayaks are pretty stable because we were crashing every 20 seconds. Too many cocktails the night before!
Anyway DH is great with taking care of the kids and all their activities etc while I’m gone, but not great with keeping on top of household stuff. So today is a loooong day of laundry and groceries and cooking. Plus taking DS2 (who has a needle phobia) to get his Covid booster. It’s a shucking return to reality today.
