H’s friend ordered a Tesla months ago and it hasn’t been delivered yet. She mentioned that she now regrets the purchase because of Elon Musk. I’ve always thought he was a douche, but I would have considered a Tesla if I was buying an EV. Now I’m a hell no way am I supporting him. I’m curious how other people feel about Tesla now.
Some of the people inside Tesla have told me that the battery technology is good but the finishes inside the car are slapped together. Elon’s labor practices aren’t too good and the workers are overworked and rushed.
I already own one, and I do love it, but I want to make a sticker/decal that says I bought this before he went full nuts.
Every time he opens his mouth I open car gurus.
But I do love it, and no gas and oil changes are amazing.
Plus the convenience of the super charger network.
I will say for how much it cost (I got in before they went crazy with $$$) it’s not the best interior, but quality control was still a thing so I’m happy.

They can cancel, but I think they might be out the deposit

I'm pretty sure my next EV will be a cargo bike anyway, but even if I was buying a car, nope.
I mean, I guess I'm glad he made an EV that appeals to conservatives (because I certainly want them spewing less CO2 even if they are doing it for all the wrong reasons), but no, I wouldn't buy one. Even if it is the only option out there with doors that open like a time machine.

I don’t think she will. But it’s too bad, she was *so* excited about the car before. She also said the price has increased quite a bit since she ordered hers so she got a good deal on it. Although it’s also super late so that’s pretty annoying.
I wouldn’t give Ego Mange one cent. Fuck him. He’s crashing his life in a spectacular way. Excellent business man, my ass.
I’d rather fucking walk.
This person should not be the CEO of a publicly-traded company, by which I mean he is benefiting from access to the best capital markets in the world (US stock exchanges) to fund Tesla while completely ignoring the rules and regulations that allow such access - like, doing shit like tweeting about taking Tesla private at $420/share (whoo lol so funny, smokin techie bro) with no actual backing for said transaction……which violates securities laws.
No, definitely not, but I probably wouldn’t have before, due to cost and the association with him. They are so common where I live. I currently have a common car and hate that part of it, so I want something more unique for my next car. I think the design is really sleek. I know someone who is in a director position at the car company and I’m so curious about her experience.
Nope, not a chance. I don’t have any suggestions for her, except maybe sell it? Can she have someone buy out her deposit to take over her spot in the queue? I don’t know if this is a thing, but it sounds like something the type of person who likes Elon Musk would jump at.
We got one one of the earlier model 3s, and much as I actually love the car, no way would I get one now. If I'd guessed what an ass Musk would turn out to be, I'd have given H a hard no when he suggested it.

This is off topic, but you all are much more knowledgeable than I am about electrics and hybrids…
We recently had an extremely bad accident here with multiple fatalities where a Tesla speeding hit someone and burst into flames. The fire was extremely difficult to extinguish and took a long time to put out which I guess is a hallmark of cars with electric batteries. I did some minimal research and it seems like electric batteries are less likely to catch on fire, but hybrids have both the increased risk of fires with traditional engines and the issue with fires to put out. We aren’t in the market for a new car for another year and a half or so, but it was something I was thinking about. My friend’s firefighter husband said they were a menace. Any thoughts on this?

That’s a good thought. Our neighbors got a Tesla last year and the were all over the fact that they could “easily” sell the car for more than they bought it for ar any time. Not sure if that’s true or not, but it’s still putting money in the tyrant’s pocket.
Years ago I was insistent that our next purchase be full electric. I was actually most firm in that stance after reading a book about Elon Musk, and how he was unwilling to compromise and make Teslas hybrids, even though technologically it would have been much easier to go that route. From an emissions perspective, it’s ultimately got to be full electric. It took time for my husband to come around to the idea of full electric, but when he did, he was adamant that it not be a Tesla. He was mostly concerned with Musk’s volatility and that if Tesla sunk there would not be other business lines to support servicing the cars.
I think the best thing would be if Musk separates himself from Tesla. They’re practically synonymous in my mind and as he continues with his eccentricities I don’t think it’s at all good for the brand. I have a friend who is pretty high up there who believes in the mission but finds him very unpredictable. I last saw my friend the week they had to cut 10% of the workforce and I’m curious the latest take and if there are thoughts of jumping ship.
No. I wouldn't have before either, but def not now. My personal Tesla paranoia is that I have zero confidence that the cars won't brick like out of date iphones when they get too old or the company stops supporting them.

So I am completely on board with electric. I got a new plug in hybrid this year and now that I have a little experience my next car would be full electric.
ADHD rambling help.
That being said, By all reports the fit and finish isn't fantastic
usually have at least a few recalls service can take forever because of availability of parts and the loaners are typically unavailable or not in great condition
Service centers can be super far from your area which isn't an issue if the problem is something like the window won't go down but if it won't go up and it is 2 degrees out, or won't start and you have to tow it 200 miles, etc
The self driving isn't really anything more than what other automakers have (and those automakers are a touch more concerned about reputation)
And now the price compared to what you can get from another maker is far closer if not better from other automakers.
I truly don't see anything about them other than the brand name that would make it worthwhile
We leased one to try it out a while ago. We turned the lease in early and decided to buy a different electric car. The interior and suspension were not as good as other vehicles.
I got to ride in 3 Teslas last weekend as Ubers and learned that the seat belts in the back seat are tiny and do not fit plus size people. So that's fucked up.
Nope. H's electric truck should be delivered early next year (obviously not a Tesla). My next car will be an EV if we can't do single car household, but it will 100% not be a Tesla.
