Holy shit, I was not aware that Children’s liquid Tylenol and ibuprofen are completely out everywhere. I stocked up in Oct (thanks for these threads) but I’m getting low (we’re on illness number 4, maybe 5?) and DD1 needs it. H went to 5 stores today before he found some hidden in the travel section at the grocery store. He sent me pics of empty shelves from CVS, Target, Wegmans and Walgreens. I tried to find it in store through the Target app and every where is out of stock, I couldn’t even order it for shipping! Amazon sells it but estimated delivery date is mid January. How did I have no idea about this? I knew about the antibiotic shortage but this is seriously shocking to me… especially given how awful DD1 looked with her 102.5 fever at bedtime.
What is happening? First baby formula, now kids medicines? Why does no one care about this?
I noticed this when S had the flu 2 weeks ago. I had no idea this was a thing.

Here's an article in the Washington Post about children's medicines availability: wapo.st/3FL5N6H
The baby formula shortage was a supplier problem. They don't seem to think this is an actual shortage, just a run on supply based on high demand causing temporary, localized availability issues.
We are all healthy(ish, my son has been complaining of sore throat in the mornings but tested negative) finally, but my anxiety dream last night centered around the kids getting sick again so that tells you where my head is at.
I'm sorry to all who are actually sick or juggling sick kids right now. It's exhausting.
And of course DD and I are now sick, and DS is on the cusp. And I'm watching a friend's toddler who was recently hospitalized for RSV so I'm wearing masks and trying to keep the kids outside and/or distanced from eachother to keep him healthy. Plus now I'm trying to stay calm about the meds shortage. Heavy sigh.

It's DS' 2nd illness in 3 weeks (this time probably the flu which he ever so kindly shared with H and me). He's almost out of motrin which is the only medicine we don't have to bribe him to take. Autism challenges pop up everywhere... anyways. Today I'm going to send my mom on the hunt for some motrin.
My 3 are all sick at the same time, which is a blessing and a curse. Covid was negative, I have strong suspicions it's Flu A. Kid #2 was finally able to go to school yesterday and today is a snow day. Kid #3 is on day 5 of fever. Kid#1 is 11 and freaking out that he's missing school and can't get his project done....ok Jan.

If anyone needs children's pain reliever, and your kids aren't picky about the flavor, Amazon seemed to have a fair amount. You just might be stuck with bubble gum vs. grape, for example.

We’re all sick again. My 3 year old was the last one standing for this recent chest virus. He just got off a 10 day stint of Augmentin that we had to chase down because of the supply issues.
Woke up barking in the night and just got worse and worse.
Grandma was threatened so we shut down our whole world, but now my kids can’t stay well for 1 day and we can’t get any medicine for them, let’s raw dog life.

My coworker texted me last night asking if I got an official covid test. She got a text from the state of Maryland that she had a close contact with a covid positive person on XYZ date. It was me! Pretty cool and also thank you god we both had good fitting masks on and never got closer than 6 feet to each other!!
Both kids are still sick. We're on day 4 out of school and working with them home. I am ready for the weekend. I'm not sure if I trust my ear thermometer anymore but I got temp readings of 104 up to 104.9 (!!!). DD1 seemed to be getter better yesterday, but fever is back today. DD2 had a high fever last night and slept like shit (so I slept awful too), but it is back down today with meds. Thank goodness H found them. I think she has an ear infection so we are going to the pedi today. I called at 8 AM (right when they open) to get an appt and my office was already booked all day. WTF?!? I got an appt for 4 PM about 15 mins away (unfortunately will require driving in rush hour traffic to get there). While I was on the phone an earlier appt disappeared before she could book it for me and she joked "it's like booking Taylor Swift tickets over here!". I appreciate her sense of humor but this is ridiculous.
I want to schedule DD2 for her Covid booster but I keep checking and the only Walgreens that are offering it are about 30 mins away. I'm so frustrated that none of the ones closer have it yet. I'm hoping if I wait until next week I can get an appt closer to my town or at the pedi office (if I can get in!).

Just white-knuckling it to school winter break. Maybe 2 weeks of lying around without other children anywhere near my own will give us a few days of health 🥀

It’s flu. 🙁 I took DD2 in for the ear check (yup she has an ear infection too) and she tested positive for Flu A. They said the high fevers are very typical of flu so I guess my thermometer isn’t broken (good to know!). Poor kiddos. They said it’s going around right now and so many kids have it. School said the same thing, so many kids out. She said it usually lasts a week so hopefully kids will be better soon. They still have fevers today (day 5) but they seem a little less miserable.
I’m really hoping H and I stay healthy but I’m suddenly very tired even though I slept well last night so I’m getting a little worried…
