That's the gist of this piece. Even if you don't live here I think you'll find the story pretty crazy. I'm so frustrated New York Ds fell asleep at the wheel and didn't bother to get any intel on this, especially since this isn't the first time he ran for Congress.
It's one measly Congressman but I bet there are others out there elsewhere in the country. Or maybe just in NY because our election was a hot mess lolsob.
Good golly, that's a lot. I'd say he sounds like one of those characters in a spy novel that they completely create, but they usually do a better job of covering this tracks. This sounds like pure arrogance.
Makes me feel better about keeping proficiency in Access on my resume, even thought I can't use it and it makes me cry.
"The Times attempted to interview Mr. Santos at the address where he is registered to vote and that was associated with a campaign donation he made in October, but a person at that address said on Sunday that she was not familiar with him." Even his home address isn't real? This is crazy.

That's the moment I fell out of my chair. Like, he's even lying about where he lives!!!! Good lord. Also, isn't that voter fraud?
Like, I'm always shocked someone in the public eye can lie this much in the internet era.
I'm already re-reading and now I'm just mad about him lying about his connection to the Pulse nightclub and his fakeass animal charity.
I'm sure people knew, but without local news to amplify, or a big paper getting involved, how are others supposed to know? I think this is the perfect example of our news infrastructure failing.
What kills me is the measured tone the article has to take to report it professionally …
“The NYT contacted the college and there is no record of his enrollment or graduation … or at this college either”
“The NYT found no record of his employment … no record of the non-for-profit … No record of the employees he claimed died at the nightclub … and on and on and on”
Like it’s some head scratcher, something to “report” and seek clarification later and not some OUTRAGEOUS OUTRIGHT lying.
Also every time I thought the article was going to wrap it up, it just kept going with more uncovered lies. I had to take a break and come back to it, wow the list is looooong.

Crazy! Calling all investigative reporters to do a deep dive into the background of R candidates. I’m sure they’ll find a bunch of other frauds. The audacity of these grifters to want to be in the public eye while they lie and commit crimes!
I worked with a conman like this once. The company thought the headhunter did the background / reference check and vice versa. His downfall was talking too much and a resume lie that was disproven with a Google search and follow up phone call. It still took several months being in an executive role where he was paid $$$ before a coworker became suspicious enough to check and the company didn’t report him to police to save face. He was presented as a wunderkind who was not much older than me and the education/ work experience seemed barely feasible, but when I learned more about him, it seemed impossible that he could do all of the things he claimed to have done at his age. After he was fired we found a website where people he previously defrauded posted warnings about him and he was basically running from all of that trouble in another state.
His D opponent also posted to Twitter that he and his campaign did bring this up (not sure to whom) but that everyone was more focused on the NY governor’s race.
We’re now learning who he is not…But who exactly is this lying person who us now going to be a part of a relatively small group of people making major decisions?!?
It’s going to be a wild ride for awhile as people seem to be out to accept the challenge of exploiting every loophole and challenging every small gap in every law and policy. There’s no law that says he now cannot be in office. They voted for him…He’s in.

I'm not losing hope yet. I want to hear a legal expert say that there truly isn't a law that could apply here that makes him ineligible. And even if there isn't such a law or while the experts are trying to find the answer, we need to fight dirtier. "When they go low, we go high" is no longer the right tactic. The other side reaches a little higher and steamrolls their disgusting ideology right over us. Remember when TFG tried to say that Obama couldn't be president because he wasn't a "real" US Citizen and it was all over the news? The Dems need to do that. AOC got elected from Queens and the other side was hell bent on casting doubt on her abilities and qualifications and life story. There needs to be an equivalent and louder level of outrage for this joker also supposedly from Queens.
Watch him not even be from Queens. Like he grew up in New Jersey or something.
Why didn't someone figure this out in advance of the election? Doesn't the opposing party do some in depth research on the competition?
Why didn’t the REPUBLICAN party who endorsed and financed him? Where is their responsibility in vetting THEIR OWN people?? Republicans should be mad as hell, too. It’s a total embarrassment.

This is not a Republican Party that cares. They will fund anyone to run who could win.
This isn’t a fucking reality show reunion episode, bruh.

Next week, lol! When no one is paying attention.
Also, it’s the Daily Beast reporting this so I’m a tad skeptical, but apparently he was married to a woman until just weeks before he started his first campaign in 2019, and there is no record of an existing marriage to a man named Matt.
If you’re a normal person, you can be gay and have been married to the opposite sex, or call your partner a husband/wife/spouse and not be married. But if you’re “George Santos,” you’re probably full of shit.
