At the very least he won’t be able to get any kind of security clearance. I assume even a basic secret-level clearance is required for Congressional Representatives. Not that he couldn’t still serve and vote….but he wouldn’t be able to attend briefings anyway.

They don't have any security clearance. Neither does the president, because I remember looking this up under Trump because there is no way he would pass a basic security clearance investigation. According to google by being voted in they are deemed trustworthy.

I looked this up under the last administration as well and was shocked and horrified. I feel like everyone should at least have to pass an FBI background check before they are even eligible to be on a ballot.

Right? Like a major part of a security clearance is checking that you wouldn't be vulnerable to bribes/blackmail based on finances or personal history. I don't understand how these people can have all this access, and no one has cleared them of that. In one thing I read it said people in Congress typically have one or two people on staff with a clearance to help them go through documents, but then they themselves don't have one because they were able to run a good campaign? It's stupid.

I'm willing to buy that they're not required to get clearance (ugh), but wouldn't they have to be for certain committees/meetings that meet in SCIFs? At least this could potentially keep him off sensitive committees.

I know under tfg, there was a closed meeting, and some Rs busted on an impeachment (I think) hearing which was a big deal, at least to those who giveashit about such things.

He wouldn't be able to attend briefings and meetings the require a clearance, and others with a clearance that attend a briefing coudnt in theory share info with him, but he'd still be able to vote on whatever issue, just without all the facts, of course! But yeah I can't imagine him having any committee assignments, which I didn't even realize was a thing until Gosar and MTG

for god's sake.  Embellishing your resume in the sense that "everybody" does it is puffing up the language about a specific job duty to make it sound like something more important than it was. 

like - "Led a team responsible for a overhaul of the records documentation system for back files" = spent two weeks with an intern sorting out the mess of some old project file storage and putting labels on stuff.

That’s the same one with the WE TOLD YOU SO piece mentioned above. Man, the local paper numbers in this piece are sobering. I have issues with my borough’s paper but I subscribe because it would leave a gaping hole in our media if they went belly up. We don’t otherwise get a lot of attention from the NYT and other city media.
