I don't think so. I see 5 votes for someone else besides McCarthy or Jeffries already. I think he could only lose 4 votes? Damn I already forgot from the first vote lol.
ETA: Never mind, we all saw the fifth vote at the same time apparently, lol.
MSNCB is reporting that 3 republicans are absent and all 3 were McCarthy voters. I didn't catch who the three were, other than Hern, but there's a funeral and a new baby involved.
Has anyone seen any details on the negotiations from last night/this morning? I’m curious what motivated the flips as well as what might be motivating the holdouts. It’s hard to see what else there is to give away aside from a promise to hold on the debt ceiling which would be a fucking disaster. It’s hard to see how they get out of gridlock.

So the remaining holdouts are:
1. Insurrection Barbie Lauren Boebert 2. Andy "Refused to Wear a Mask while Members were kept in a secure location on Jan 6th" Biggs 3. Matt Gaetz who should be in jail right now for sexual assault 4. Newly-elected Eli Crane, a former Navy SEAL who won investments on Shark Tank 5. Matt Rosendale, who is rumored to be running for Senate next cycle against the other MT rep and is probably show boating for name recognition 6. Insurrectionist Bob Good who voted against giving the Congressional Gold Medals to members of the DC Police who HELPED SAVE HIS FUCKING LIFE on Jan 6th. 7. Andy Harris, who wrote prescriptions for Ivermectin for anyone who wanted one to "treat" COVID.
Of those, I think Boebert, Gaetz, and Biggs are 99.9% will never flip (though, they are all morons, and you can never truly know what a moron will do).
The other four seem more a possibility to me but maybe I'm just not familiar enough with their brand of crazy. Andy Harris is in a more purple district, he's the one that stands out to me as a weird holdout.

I recall seeing a vote on term limits (12 years, which felt more reasonable than 6) and the no confidence thing of 1 person instead of 5. That’s all I remember.

I think Harris is just crazy, personally. I don’t see Good flipping either. I could see Crane and Rosendale but TBH I have less of a sense of why they’re even doing this to begin with.

Thanks! McCarthy was reported to have agreed on 1 person no confidence on Wed night negotiations though right?

yes, and someone wanted to change it to 1 Rep specifically but McCarthy is not worried about Dems doing it.
216 was needed for the 12th vote, but the D that was out for surgery came back and 217 will be needed next round

Rep David Trone, D-MD, has returned to the House, after missing the 12th ballot. Democrats say this brings the number of votes McCarthy will need to win from 216 to 217

If my math is right, he can only lose 2-3. Boebert, Gates, and Biggs seem like they're not going to budge. I wonder if they move for a plurality after this round, since they finally have more votes than Jeffries and I know they want to wrap it up and get out of there.

Yeah. And there was something in the mystery, unfindable, thing I read where the people pushing it gave their word they wouldn’t abuse it. And people took these fuckers at their word, and we’re like “ok, I can deal with that concession.” Now, back to the post to dig for the thing I’m quoting without citing.

I’m not going to lie, all of this has made me a LOT more enthusiastic about Jeffries than I ever thought I could be. Party is doing a good job with hype!
