It looks like they’ll be 5 hard Nos but last night I saw there were at least 14.
I can’t find info on why the 5 are holding out and what they want. I love that they all hate each other. Also McCarthy has already moved his stuff into the speaker office.
I expect McCarthy will eke out a win. I think the extremists are just posturing for their bases. But we'll see!
Agreed. As much as I would love to see them continue to implode, one thing the GOP has never been is politically stupid. They may be actually unintelligent, but they get their shit together when it comes to political savvy. Or at least they have so far. Fingers crossed this is the end of that!

Yup and leadership will “grudgingly” give these far right dinglebats a bunch of concessions they secretly wish they could fully support out loud and the rest of us will be stuck in culture wars nightmare for another 2+ years.
It is a lot of procedural and rules related stuff but it boils down to wanting to decentralize the role of leadership within the caucus and on committees so that freedom caucus and other far right members have more control over what advances and what shape bills take. In particular a lot of the changes are designed to make it harder for the House to pass things that the Senate has passed (or come to resolution in conference) and easier to kill bills in committee. Also lots of desire to drag the Biden admin through various investigations but that is pretty mainstream with GOP.

So basically, get nothing done and then blame Democrats because voters will continue to eat that shit up.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
I wonder how many rounds this will take. Does it get increasingly more humiliating as this drags on, or does he reach a saturation point?
I hate that they have to survey everyone again, including Democrats. I understand why, but it's too much!!! So now I'm just catching random updates as it continues.
