The bar is basically on the floor at the moment. I feel like we need to start someone who acknowledges that Covid is still a problem and Covid is airborne. Someone who realizes the initial infection is not the only concern and sees the value in reducing transmission. Someone who does not push the current vaccine only approach. You can certainly still get Covid even if vaccinated. Allow the CDC to follow the science and not be influenced by business. Many people think they are fine to just go out and about after 5 days because of the current guidelines. The current CDC message on masking is not great. They mention it it some places but then masks are completely absent in others. Masks are an import tool for preventing transmission and at times they only recommend hand washing.
From the CDC page on Long Covid (I mean seriously, wtf is this)
"The best way to prevent post-COVID conditions is to protect yourself and others from becoming infected. For people who are eligible, CDC recommends staying up to date on COVID-19 vaccination, along with improving ventilation, getting tested for COVID-19 if needed, and seeking treatment for COVID-19 if eligible. Additional preventative measures include avoiding close contact with people who have a confirmed or suspected COVID-19 illness and practicing hand hygiene, which means washing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds."
Someone who is going to mandate masks when needed. Someone is going to push for legislation that will lead to cleaner indoor air. Provide people with high quality masks and easy access to testing.

This person is unelectable at this point.
Even locally, let alone at a national level.
A local school board election in spring 2021 pitted mask mandate candidates against “mask if you want, don’t if you don’t want” candidates and the mandate team lost. Badly. And I’m in a majority blue area.

I blame some of that on POTUS and this admin. They are the ones who hid the transmission map and tried to make everything look fine with the community levels map. POTUS has declared the pandemic over.
I do not think they are doing a good job of educating the public on the risks of long covid.
"You do you" does not really work when it comes to public health. There are people skipping medical care because they do not feel safe going to appointments. That is not right. Something needs to be done.

I really don’t expect the documents stuff for Trump OR Biden to amount to anything. They were both dumbheads messing with archives but because America is not capable of critical thinking skills and being able to understand the differences in how both teams reacted upon discovery, Garland will probably just try to prevent partisan violence and say both situations have been deemed nothingburgers.
Oh and I’m still standing by Biden in 2024. The ship has sailed for a new candidate.

ok, but the person you are describing is not electable. especially as president. that's the point i was agreeing with, first made by a PP.
] As for a presidential candidate, I want someone who is going to take Covid/public health seriously.
Sure. I also want someone who recognizes LGBTQ based persecution as a grounds for asylum.
But that doesn’t matter because we are going to get either Biden or the GOP candidate.
This isn’t Katie Porter primaryng Feinstein in CA where she has a shot because voters are strongly blue and CA primaries run differently. If Biden gets primaried, it’ll look just like Carter in 1980 or Johnson in 1968.
