bears our DD2 went to overnight horse camp last year and she’s going again this year. She LOVED it! Begged to go back and for more overnight camps.
This weekend was DD1s freshman formal. We had pre-pics at one of her friends house. There were 30 girls, 30 dates, 30 girl moms, lots of boy moms, some dads, siblings….it was something else. First time in dry January I craved a drink. Also I love teenage boys - they are so sweet. Girls are such a pain in the ass but the boys are so polite and awkward and darn adorable.
Holy Internalized Misogyny! I can only guess that you don’t have a teenage boy living in your home. Or, if you do, that he is somehow not the typical teenager (ie, mostly a pain the ass to those who love them the most). However sweet and awkward they are around adults not their parents, teenage boys come with their own host of problematic behavior, trust.
We made 4 kinds of ice cream this weekend and I really think we should have that for dinner rather than making an actual meal. We made: buckeye, lemon meringue, butter mint and lemon stick.
I just got an Instacart grocery order. I ordered green onions. Guess what the guy gave me as a replacement?
A cucumber.
LOL. We'll eat it so whatever, but what in the world was he thinking? He should have just refunded me. That's not even a little bit close to the same thing! Also, I had mini cucumbers in my order (which I did receive) so why did he think we wanted another cucumber?
He also supposedly replaced my chicken deli meat with turkey, which I clicked "approve" on, and then I got a cheaper kind of chicken instead but was charged for the turkey. I am getting a refund for that one because it was $6 and I don't even want what he sent.
In other food news, I bought some Garrett's cheese popcorn at the airport last night and I'm eating it now. So good! I'm glad I just got a small bag though because I could eat so much of it.
Update to my thrilling washer/dryer saga. I was able to buy them separately for only $100 more than it would have cost to purchase them via the “sold out” package deal. I’m cool with that. Order placed!
Now I just have to wait until March for them to be delivered. I cannot wait!!
Has anyone watched Poker Face on Peacock? It sounds like it'd be my kind of thing, but I'd love to *know* that before signing up for another service (again lol).
Because of this show (even though I haven’t seen it yet but was wowed by the guest stars in the promo), Traitors, RHOM and the inevitable RHUGT, I got sucked in to Peacock’s current promotion of $29.99 for a year 🤷🏻♀️
I just canceled our Peacock Premium in December bc we never really watched it and I didn't want to keep paying for it, so I'm not eligible for the current promotion bc I was a previous subscriber.
(Yes, I know I could use a different email address, but I'm not interested in adding that much complexity to my streaming life.)

A few weeks ago, I placed an order at BJs for pickup. When they didn't have the strawberries I wanted available, the replacement suggestion was a bag of chips. Pretty much the same thing!

I survived having 15 boys spend the night for my son’s birthday party. They are such good kids, it was so easy. We got tp’d and I didn’t realize there was some in the back of my truck, it was flying out of the truck bed like a ticker tape parade on my way to work this morning 😂
We had such an awesome weekend in Charleston. It was exhausting, but we saw SO many of our friends and it has filled my heart.
Unfortunately, when we got dropped at our car in the parking lot by the parking shuttle, the hatch opened with the fob, it unlocked, but then I went to start it as the hatch was closing and it, like, shorted out and then wouldn't do anything. I just replaced the battery Jan 7. Luckily we keep a portable battery jumper in the car and that got it to start, but while we were driving it kept flashing different dash lights and would kind of lose power, not accelerate right, etc. so I got off the highway and we took access roads home. It starts now, but still displays some weird dash lights that then go off, but the check engine light stays on. SO. I'm taking it to the dealership to drop it off in an hour or so here in a bit. We're a one car family so this is really annoying.
Maybe luckily or unluckily we have that "winter storm weather" coming, so the downside is I didn't want to take it out to the store today for extra stuff, I don't want to push my luck, but upside is we likely wouldn't be driving it the next couple of days anyway. I just hope it's not too $$$$ of a fix. It's only a 2017 with 30,000ish miles on it.

I’m leaving on Friday to go to Jackson Hole, WY for a ski vacation with my brothers. I haven’t skied in probably 15 years. I use to be pretty decent at it. Anyway, I took myself skiing today. We have a small ski area about 15 minutes from my house. I’m happy to report that it seems to be like riding bike and I do remember how to ski.
I just renewed my driver's license (was able to do it online which is awesome) and I guess they changed how often it needs to be renewed, I've had mine 5 years, but now I don't have to do it for another 8. I really hope I never actually have to renew it because I don't want to still be living in TX in 8 years.

Nope. Just girls. This past year with our 15 year old damn near killed us and was bc of the most viscous, hateful, grotesque behavior of teenage girls. I’m sure boys can be a pain in the ass as well but I’m entitled to my opinion.
Oh. Speaking of movies, last weekend me and H watched Menu and Triangle of Sadness back to back. What a weird fucking night that was. Me and H were like....what the fuck did we just watch?
This weekend we watched Hunger Games and then MH and I watched Three Pines. I was going crazy trying to figure out how I knew the actor who played Jean-Guy because he sounded so familiar. Well, turns out he's Donald Sutherland's (President Snow in the Hunger Games) son!
My two main suggestions would be soft close cabinet doors/drawers, and lvp for the flooring, with a pad underneath. Have fun with your remodel! Oh and a warming drawer, if you don’t already have one. Probably my most-used appliance.

Haha….I watched Banshees of Inisherin and felt that way, and then I started The Menu and once I figured out what was happening I turned it off.
Thanks to the board, I opened a new cc to earn miles. My current credit card is an Amazon Chase one. We just cancelled Amazon, so I won’t be using it as much.
The choices are overwhelming but I got a Capital One Venture card and so far so good. I paid my supplemental tax bill to the tune of $1400 so I’m 1/3 of the way to the bonus.
I went to SS’s award assembly this morning. His school is a good hour from my work, so I came in at 10:15. That makes the day go by fast!

Oh, this one is on my list! Maybe I should give it a few weeks lol

Juuuuust FYI, because I think you're in PA, I grew up going to the Poconos to ski and consider myself decent enough. But skiing at Jackson Hole was another world entirely. It was like, straight vertical on the green runs lol So definitely start with the easiest hills and take your time.
Honestly, right now, I'm fine. My final Performance improvement plan meeting they said I met expectations. That was on the 18th. But between that day and now I still couldn't get a major project off my plate. Some of it was my fault but some of it was technical/software errors that my supervisor I guess didn't think was a solid reason for the delay. I knew the day my supervisor was promoted to supervise me my days were numbered. Our styles and expectations didn't match.
8 years. gone.
It's weird to think of all the work that the team has to do now that I'm gone and now it's not my problem.

as the mother of an almost -6 year old boy, yes to this. Lol

Have you ever thought it might be your kid (or her friends)? Generalizing to a whole gender is pretty awful.
I don't go around thinking all tween boys are violent shits just because the only tweens who have punched or threatened my daughter were boys. I think those three particular kids are shit.
My random of the day: I have a vein that kind of sticks out that runs alongside my right calf. I don't know a lot about veins but I don't think its necessarily a varicose vein, it doesn't appear twisted or anything. It's just more prominent, I guess? Anyway, the past few days I've been very...aware of it, I guess is the best way to phrase this. Like I can feel it pulsing slightly or maybe the blood running through it? No cramping or other blood clot like symptoms. I don't know what that is about, but its disconcerting. Is this more of the fun of getting older? I work out a lot, so IDK if that exacerbates it or not.
It's cold and raining here. Why do people go thru the car wash on a rainy day?
I have a car wash membership and often times if it's raining it's because I want to get the dirt off that has been sitting. Then I promptly drive my car to the garage ha

Sounds a bit off to me. Should you get it checked out?

This is the last post I’m making in this bc my first post was meant to be a lighthearted offhand comment about how sweet I think 14 and 15 year old boys are. And I’m starting to shake with rage.
Might it be “my kid”? No one is ever blameless in any sort of kid drama situation but considering we had to get a fucking lawyer involved to stop the bullying, she missed weeks of school bc she was being harassed and objectified and my child actually said if we hadn’t taken the steps we did she’d be “six feet under” no I don’t think MY KID was the problem. Sure, blame the victim. Now who’s being misogynistic?
