Not only is Mifepristone so important for reproductive healthcare, it's also beneficial for treating fibroids and breast cancer (but because of the religious right it's rarely used for those purposes).
I was prescribed Mifepristone as a prep to have my IUD reinserted. You know, that highly reliable form of birth control that makes it so that I don't need an abortion... RAGE.
It's terrifying to think how many medical treatments (beyond abortion) might become unavailable to women because the hateful Right wants to control us.

It definitely begs the question, if judges can force medications off the market, what will they go after next? I absolutely expect that they will try this with contraceptive pills at some point.

HRT for gender affirming care too. They don’t even need a judge, I think the FDA could probably fuck with it during a bad administration because it’s “off label” use even though it has been used safely for decades.

Me too.
I just don’t understand how our system works. One judge in one state can force a mediation off the market nation wide? How is that even possible?! I felt the same way when I single judge decided we don’t have to wear masks on planes anymore. I realize they are federal judges but I feel it should take more than 1… I’m speechless.
I really love knowing that these fucking dickweeds would have been content for me to just die. Like, I've always thought I'd have made a good frontier woman, cept for that whole "modern medicine required for me to live while fertile" issue. I'd have just been a wooden cross by the side of the oregon trail. "ahh, a fever took her. such a shame"

Yes - Roe comes right out of Griswold. It's up next.

Every lawyer I’ve talked with doesn’t think this will happen even with this crazy judge, but we’ll see. We’re all preparing for the worse.
During the height of Covid a lot of people didn’t have access to mifepristone (often bought through pharmacies in India or in Mexico) so we were seeing a lot of misoprostol only abortions. So if this happens it’ll go back to that. At least there are still options (in many countries miso only is what they do since mife is harder to obtain and more expensive), but it’s so fucked up that we have to continue to fight for basic health care needs.

I got both last time on the third insertion attempt where I had to be put under (lucky me!). I'm sure they're coming for misoprostol as well

Oh no, so sorry! That’s interesting, I’ll have to ask colleagues about that, trying to figure out how mife would be helpful based on mechanism of action, have never done that. Love to learn something new! Unfortunately most clinics don’t even have mife since it’s always been highly regulated unnecessarily and you can’t just get it at a pharmacy (that’s currently changing finally). That’s great that wherever you went was able to give you mife!

I have so many questions about this.
Wouldn’t it be unprecedented for a court to force a drug off the market? That’s usually been the purview of the FDA, as far as I’m aware. (Every high-profile withdrawal I can think of was FDA- or manufacturer-initiated.)
Also, if the concern is related to the 2000 application, couldn’t the manufacturer(s) submit new data that would show that the drug is safe and effective? (And yes, I realize that there are the issues of time, money and the threat a new FDA commissioner within the next 18 months. But big picture.) And how would it work for patients who use it for Cushing’s syndrome? Once a drug is on the market, physicians can prescribe it off-label however they see fit.
Of course this move would be extremely disruptive, cruel and needlessly harm women. Full stop. It’s rage-inducing. But my (relatively small) knowledge of the pharma regulatory space (I used to work on pharma projects in a past job) makes me wonder how this will play out if the worst comes to pass.
Attorneys general in 20 conservative-led states warned CVS and Walgreens on Wednesday that they could face legal consequences if they sell abortion pills by mail in those states.
A letter from Republican Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey to the nation's largest pharmacy-dispensing companies was co-signed by 19 other attorneys general, warning that sale of abortion pills would violate federal law and abortion laws in many states. Missouri is among states that implemented strict abortion prohibitions last summer after the Supreme Court ruling overturning Roe v. Wade.
Bailey didn't specify what legal action he would take if the pharmacies begin selling abortion pills to Missourians by mail.
“I will enforce the laws as written," Bailey said in a statement in response to questions from The Associated Press. "That includes laws protecting the health of women and their unborn children. The FDA rule is in direct violation of federal law, and the unelected bureaucrats at the FDA have no authority to change Missouri law, either. The people’s elected representatives have spoken on the issue of abortion in our state, and we will fight to uphold that in court.”

Still no decision. There's a webinar tonight put on by Abortion AF (Abortion Access Front):
"Join Abortion Access Front TONIGHT for The Worst Little Courthouse in Texas: What the Texas Abortion Medication Ruling Means For YOU! Hosted by Jessica Mason Pieklo of Boom! Lawyered and Rewire News Group, the webinar will feature experts like AAF Founder Lizz Winstead, Arpita Appannagari of NIRH, Caitlin Gerdts from Ibis Reproductive Health, Elisa Wells of Plan C Pills, and Natasha Chabria from All* Above All. This amazing lineup of panelists will break down why anti-abortion groups filed a federal lawsuit in a Texas district court challenging the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in its decades-old approval of mifepristone, one of the two medications typically used to provide medication abortion care.
Tonight’s webinar will run from 6:30 PM ET to 7:30 PM ET - register here to join the hundreds of folks already signed up to learn more and take action!"

IUDs will be banned next, since the religious right thinks they cause abortions.

I ditched the pill a few months ago when all the shit started to go down, and went back to an IUD. I told my PCM that I was concerned about the long-term availability of contraceptives and wanted to get an IUD before they made it all illegal. She said she’d had MANY women coming in asking for IUDs over the last several months for the same reason.

If the election of our state's governor had gone the other direction, I'd have paid out of pocket for it to be replaced early (mine's due to be replaced in June).

Here’s a good article that explains some details and what the judge’s ruling could actually do and that it seems pretty limited. The antis are never going to stop though, so have to be prepared for the next hit and be proactive :/
