We are supposed to get 6+" of snow starting this evening into tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed for a snow day for the kids tomorrow so that I can sleep in a bit.
I need to run to the store at lunch or this evening to get a few things in advance of the snow.
Today is also my Friday, but I woke up with a cold. Negative for Covid thankfully. I was supposed to take my kids to the state fair tomorrow and strawberry picking on Sunday, plus we have Monday off and were maybe going to a theme park. I'm hoping this is a very short cold and I can do some of these planned activities.

I love plants but life has been crazy some of my plants have not survived. I lost my Ivy that I grew from a propagation, so I replaced it. It came today, and I guess the cats approve. Hopefully they get bored of it quick.
Does anyone else have dogs that aren’t food motivated? I have three dogs with varying levels of food motivation. My one chunky girl will do anything for food. She scavenges, steals from the other dogs, tries to get food when your cooking, etc. Me second dog is a bit more stealth. She may or may not eat at mealtimes and will try to counter-surf if there is something she really, really wants. My youngest could not give two shits about food LOL She is literally laying next to her bowl right now, mostly to keep dog #1 from eating it, but she’s only had a few bites herself. It’s crazy to me that they are all so different.
I am in a group on Facebook for parents of kids with IEPs in our district. There was a recent question about dyslexia support, and I commented that we pulled our DD bc we felt she was being pushed through without learning anything, and that she is now in a good place after remediation outside the district and we plan to move her back next year.
Anyway. I guess one of DD's former teachers is in the group and gave my comment the "cares" reaction.
I love this teacher. She taught both my kids. She is a lovely person and I truly believe that we were failed by the system, not the teachers-- the individual teachers are doing their best within the framework they are provided. DD was also disproportionately affected by covid shutdowns, which was out of everyone's control.
Anyway. Now I feel bad. I don't want her to think that I blame her. But it feels weird to add a comment directed to her when she didn't actually reply to my comment.
I am so awkward and I hate hurting people's feelings and this minor interaction will come back to me when I'm lying awake at 1 am for years to come.

jinkies, I take the care response to me I stand with you/agreed/I support you in this, not as an an apology or that they feel bad like they wronged you. I'm betting that teacher sees the weaknesses in the system and was saying she agrees with you.
@sameoldstory our oldest dog is food obsessed and counts down the minutes to dinner every night. The other two (beagle mix and a beagle) really don’t want to eat their food and we have to really encourage them to eat. We can’t leave the food out because of our older dog. We got these freeze dried liver sprinkles that has helped a little.
But it’s weird! Our dachshund wasn’t super food oriented either but every other dog I’ve had at least wanted to eat meals!
We're halfway through a three-week work trip for DH, and 14yo DD is down with a cold and I needed to be at work, so she's home by herself today, even though it feels SO WEIRD to not be there with her. I worked from home Tues anyway and yesterday I left her home for the morning but teleworked the afternoon, and it was pretty clear she didn't really need me, sob.
She's very responsible/capable, there are multiple neighbors she can go to for help if needed, my mom and I are both nearby if she really needs something, and she's been home alone during the day in the summer. I guess it's just that she's sick and it makes me a little sad that my baby doesn't need me to make her feel better anymore.
Is it normal to sort of feel a new crown? He kept asking how it felt yesterday but my mouth was still numb. It just feels a little weird. Like one tooth is a tap shoe.

You may need to have it adjusted. I’ve had to go back a week or two later and they can check your bite and adjust the surface if you’re noticing it that much. It was very noticeable to me and made my jaw hurt.
I took PTO today and tomorrow, and then it snowed 5 inches last night. DS was already off school, so no alarms or waiting to see what would happen. I slept until 9:00! It feels amazing! I feel a little guilty as I monitor my work email and I’m sure it’s stressful with this weather, but I have a true snow day and I’m loving it!!
I got promoted!!! I wouldn't usually make a point of announcing something like this, but I feel like I can't tell people in IRL (other than family and one senior colleague who went to bat for me), and I really wanted to share with someone. I'm delighted, because I've worked hard for this. At the same time, I have a lot of residual feelings of inadequacy stemming from how long it took. But I also feel guilty for not just being happy, so I'm trying to focus on that. I'm very grateful and hope everyone deserving of recognition gets it! And a raise.
Also, my parents have been married for 49 years today. They bicker in a way that seems very normal to me, but they're so in love and absolutely adorable. I love them so much and am so lucky to have them, it gets me all choked up. (I'm such a weirdo!)
I sent them one of those Freshcut paper bouquets, and my mom is so delighted, it's just too much. She's really frugal, so while she loves flowers, my sending a real bouquet would only upset her. Turns out a $12 paper version really hits the mark.
I'm sorry to keep talking about my ass surgery but good grief that is horrible.
I have a very high metabolism when it comes to medication so pain pills aren't doing squat. Also, I have an IUD so I haven't had a period in like 5 years. This AM I was not mentally prepared to wake up not only in such pain but also bloody.
jinkies, seems weird that a teacher would be a member of a parent IEP page. Our school tried to set up a SEPTA (Sped PTA) but none of the parents wanted teachers as part of the group so it never took off.
spindle92, I am sorry you're having so much pain with this.
Pilsy, congratulations!!! Some places are just slow to promote, I am sure the fact that they finally did it means it is well earned! I hope you can celebrate!
And I know what you mean about your parents, mine hit 46 years this year and are similarly cute together and are really just two of the best people I know. I can't imagine the day that I won't have them anymore, so I just feel really lucky that I have them now.
I think I've finally hit on feeling overwhelmed. Work is getting busier (and I'm being held more accountable by my new supervisor, which is a good thing but also extra pressure), and the class I am taking this semester involves a LOT of assignments and readings, plus it meets every week instead of the every other week that most of my other classes have met. Plus I am teaching a graduate course currently AND will be teaching a brand new graduate course in a few weeks when the current one ends, which means I have to figure out WTF the course even entails - at least it's already written for me so I'm just taking over what others have done in the past. Anyway, that's too much work and I just want to take naps, lol. I like being busy - it keeps me more motivated - but I think all of this might be going too far.
My SS is going on a school Disney trip. They were never clear on the costs of the trip. Between fundraising, money his mom sent in, and money I sent in, I still don’t know the balance.

She is also a parent in the district. I (obviously) don't know if her child has an IEP, but she may legitimately belong in the group.
The group was formed in the immediate aftermath of covid shutdowns in March 2020, so it was kind of a chaotic time and I don't think the admins were particularly strict about who joined.
I do hope that she was acknowledging support, and didn't take offense. She was DD's teacher when we finally got an IEP in place (a full 2 years after we first realized there was a problem), and I appreciate that she was the first teacher who actually listened to me. Unfortunately that was January of 2020 so we all know how the rest of that year went.

They're individuals. I feed my two dogs very different diets based on their needs and preferences. One refused to eat multiple times per week until I found a diet that she wanted to eat. The other one gets diarrhea if I give her the wrong kind of treat. It's also taken quite a bit of trial and error to figure out what she can eat and digest easily.
One other thing to consider is if you're overfeeding. While the stereotype is that dogs will eat all the things all the time, it's not always the case. Some dogs just don't eat when they're not hungry. Their weight may be good if you're overfeeding and they're refusing to eat half the time. They might eat more regularly if offered smaller portions.
I had to look up the next full moon because I don't know what is going on lately.
Pool landscaping issues this morning. DH dealt with it thankfully. Will likely require a landscaping company to come in after, which isn't a total surprise to us. Talk about expensive shit with no payoff, like dirt and grass seed.
We leave tomorrow for a long weekend. I am looking forward to that. My kid is just so fun to travel with at this age.
Tonight my mom and I are going to see Toto. Should be fun.

One of my bffs just saw them this week with Journey, she said it was a great time, have fun!

The keyboardist is my oldest friend! We've known each other since we were 4, and he's always been basically a musical prodigy. It's so awesome that he's on this gig now, I'm so proud of him.

Ohhhh, he was the band member that wrote Roseanna, for Roseanne Arquette. That's so cool that you know him!!
I love Toto.
eta: lol, never mind. Clearly they got a new keyboardist

Good to know! They were very blasé with their aftercare chat.
