I learned a new weather term today: graupel!

It graupeled today all over Orange County! And it was not, in fact, hail.

Got it here, too. Graupel at the beach is wild! I took a video and my mom was like, “Where is your jacket?” My first thought when seeing it “snow” here, since that never happens, was not to grab a jacket!

ETA: there was also snow below the Hollywood sign, which isn’t very high. We got some pictures with snow just above the Hollywood sign last weekend, but it wasn’t below yet

That’s wild! And yet in my part of NJ we haven’t had a measurable snow this year!

Crazy wind today - lowest sea level pressure in recorded history today at 976mb in KY/IN. Blew debris and broke a window at our house, knocked over a structure in our yard that was well anchored. Lots of rain, but that's par for the course this time of year.

Our power is on for now, but lots of folks in the area knocked out for a few days. The mud and water doesn't help 😞

ETA I did a search on that stat (put forth by local news) and looks like it might just be for the area? Not sure
