I’m off to my moms in a little bit. I’m hoping to talk her into stopping at Costco on the way back. DH needs jeans and I’m crossing my fingers that they have their fleece lined leggings in!!!
The last few days at work have been nonstop drama, and I'm at the point where I've decided to resign the unpaid position I was asked to fill at the beginning of the year because it's way too much stress to deal with these people who agree to things (in writing even!) then turn around and say they had no idea those same things were going to happen. The district can find someone else to deal with this nonsense.
We're supposed to leave for a short OOT trip after H gets off work tonight, but Kid 1 has a sore throat and a fever. We covid tested them last night (negative) and will do it again before we make the final decision to leave. Ugh. Terrible timing.
H has finally started updating his LinkedIn and resume. Yesterday was 8 years at his company. It's past time he job hunt. Things have been bad for 2ish years now. He was discussing contracting with me. Now that I work and have good insurance that could be an option for him. So we'll see.

I'm pretty sure I have a stye and it's making it incredibly hard to focus on my work and it's making me incredibly cranky. I had to remove myself from my family last night because I was getting mean.

I got to sleep in this morning because DS doesn't have school today. Wonderful start to my Friday, after a not so fun evening last night...
The dog was being a weirdo and I was ready to rush him to the emergency vet until H calmed me down. The dog went outside right before I was getting ready for bed (like he always does) and when he came in, he walked past me and on to his bed in the spare room. He always stops at the rug by the door for a treat. I called him out and he sped past me and ran down the basement stairs with his tail between his legs and hid under my desk. He wouldn't come out then when he did he was walking weird and not putting weight on his back legs. I thought he maybe got bit by something or I don't know what. We checked him over and didn't see anything and he didn't seem to be in any pain when we poked and prodded him. He was scaring me and acting so strange. After 15 minutes or so, he finally went back upstairs and was walking normal but still had his tail between his legs. Something must have just spooked him outside I guess. This morning he seemed completely normal but would not go outside in the backyard to go to the bathroom. I had to get him on his leash and walk him out front. He better not keep this up... we have a fenced in yard for a reason.
Needless to say, I didn't sleep well because I was worried about him. I left our bedroom door open so he could come in or I could hear him if he got up. So of course, the cat made himself comfortable on my pillow all night.

TGIF! DH and I may go see a local cover band who plays "90's music" (no idea if it's pop, grunge etc.) at a brewery tonight. It's pouring rain, so I really hope I don't change my mind and stay home as it doesn't start until 6 PM, lol. They have a really good (and strong) pumpkin beer so I need to make that my motivation to go. Just wish it was also dry as the inside gets PACKED, and the outside seating is sooo nice when available.
Don't flame me for this one...I don't really like the new *N Sync song (for the Trolls movie) at first listen. To be fair I've never seen the Trolls movies so maybe that context would help. Anyway, I still want them to tour even though I'd never be able to get tickets. Maybe another pop song not made for a kids movie too?

Not being snarky, do kid fundraisers ever stop? I know I don't have to donate to everything, but I just got asked/saw posts for like 5 more fundraisers, but I've already donated to a bunch and it's not quite October. I'll buy a magazine from one because we send it to my dad, and tend to get more than we pay for, but enough is enough bruh.

I'm really tired. A week of work travel and being in a different time zone where I was sleeping way less, really took it out of me.
I wish I could take a week off from work and do a bunch of stuff around the house. Alas, I will have to make do with seeing how much I can get done this weekend.

DH was just told that his annual bonus target is being reduced from 20% to 15%, effective Jan. 1. They are going to give him and other impacted employees a 5% base salary increase Jan. 1, so it reduces his pay-at-risk and will be a good thing in years the bonus pays below target, but he will lose pay in years where the bonus pays above target. We will need to be diligent about saving the additional base pay $ for expenses we would usually spend bonus $ on, such as home repairs/improvements and vacations.

I legit made this same statement the other day! Kid just finished a walkathon fundraiser last week and then this week brought home another one for band... We didn't ask anyone to donate for walkathon and just sent a check and I'm tempted to do the same for this one.

Anyone have a 16 insulated (prefer metal) tumbler with a straw option they like?
I have a 24 oz one and I don’t like the lid and I shouldn’t drink that much iced coffee.
Why are they so expensive? Corkcicle has a cute one but it’s like $35 and the straws are extra.
I love my Simple Modern tumbler (I have 2 of the 24oz ones and I've had them for about 5 years). I think they are reasonable. I've replaced the straws with basic/no name metal straws because the plastic one it comes with gets gross quickly.

I mean, it's an equity issue for most who can't afford to just write a check (every time), or kids just don't participate (my DH included way back when). Where are my tax dollars going if they're not paying for these activities? I could go on and on.
Some of the posts annoy me too. I don't think families should shell out money every other week, but don't guilt friends and family on social media to buy "just 15 more!" Of whatever you're selling. I just bought $20 worth of some kind of raffle tickets or calendars from another friend who needed to meet goal.

Oh, I am really side eyeing my niece's preschool over this. They have had not one but two fundraisers for...Christmas. Like, apparently the school gets each child a present, and they have a celebration. I'm all for families in the school that can afford extras subsidizing the families that can't, but I don't give a shit about my OWN childcare center having a holiday celebration for him and actively don't want any additional presents, so I certainly don't care about paying for some other center's seemingly over the top celebration! Fundraise for something that actually matters, FFS.
(And also not everyone celebrates Christmas, but the vast majority of people here do, so I'm sure they haven't even taken that factor into account)

I'm overly passionate about this...but daycare fundraisers, where families at least in the U.S. literally pay an entire weeks pay for the service/schooling/care put me over the edge. I'd feel a *little* better if the money at least went to paying super hard working teachers minimum wage or you know, a liveable wage...but no. I have a friend who actually stood up to daycare about fundraising, asking how their 10 mo old was supposed to ask people to buy things?
Also I didn't really think about it, but yes a lot of the designs are Christ based holidays. Like buy wrapping paper, wreaths and candles, but they're all Christmas themed, but not for other holidays, or more generic. Heck I'd even like something non-seasonal so I'd want to use it the other 11/12 months of the year.
litskispeciality, daycare fundraisers were actually a question I asked when we toured. Like, if I'm paying THIS MUCH, don't tell me you want me to sell wrapping paper to.
They did one fundraiser the entire time we were there, but it was toward an improvement project on one of the playgrounds, so I only side eyed them a little bit.

I have 2 Simple Modern tumblers (20oz and 40oz) and I love them both. I use the 40oz for water exclusively, and the 20oz for anything else. The price point is better than Stanley (not by a ton, but enough), and I haven't had any leakage issues.

I received two fundraising requests the other day in the mail from my cousin’s kids school. I hate to say it, but they went right into the trash. I might consider donating to my nieces or nephews schools, but I’m not donating to a random to me school for my cousin whose kids I have only met a handful of times. I just broke the bank pledging our annual contribution to my own kids school.

Nope - I have a 9th and 12th grader and currently have 4 fundraisers!!! I am not doing them all.
Has anyone done Rebecca's "Straight to the Core" program on Peloton? I'm almost done with week 3 of 4. Some of the sessions are completely ridiculous - like a couple of days ago one of the moves was to start on all fours and then kick your legs in the air and spin 180* on your hands - so you end up doing a kind-of handstand while you twist your legs/body around. It probably doesn't sound like that big of a deal but I was really annoyed, like, I don't need to do acrobatics here.
I tried to do this with DS (we've done Emma's numerous times) and strongly disliked it. We didn't even make it through the first week.
I grabbed nothing bundt cakes on my way back from labwork and then saw a Jimmy Johns and figured I would try it. I can't remember if I've had it before.
It was terrible. I honestly prefer subway over what I got. Meh.
