Cold (like upper teens) with the possibility of freezing rain. Cool, cool. Let’s do this ERCOT. What could go wrong.
The weather guys I follow posted an update on fare prices to Cancun for the weekend. Ultimate Ted Cruz troll job. I laughed so hard.
I follow these guys for the most predictable weather, but for some reason they aren't showing up in my newsfeed on socials. My algorithms are broken. Thanks Taylor Swift.

Please tell me I missed Eric saying something hilarious about Cruz. Or do you follow someone else?
It was on X! Eric posted the Southwest flight schedule to Cancun on Monday and was like good fares available! I laughed so hard. Those guys are the best.
Cold and ice/snow possible Sun/Mon, which for DFW is the apocolypse. I'm supposed to fly to FL for work Tuesday night.
My dad gave me a new generator he didn't need. DH and I just set it up with gas and oil and picked up space heaters (I know how dangerous they are and will be extra vigilant) and extension cords. It works! But damn it is loud in our neighborhood. This eases A TON of anxiety for us. Plus, I bought lots of food.
Our house got down to 44 in 2021 and a pipe burst. We are scarred.
Kansas City south suburbs- 7” of very heavy, wet snow kept schools closed Tuesday & Wednesday. They went to school yesterday but the drive wasn’t awesome. Then today @ 5:30am they called us off for freezing rain. Roads are slick around us I’m told. We are off Monday and expect a weather closing again Tuesday for bitter cold.
The Chiefs will be playing possibly the coldest game in NFL history tomorrow night. Tickets are cheap and even that won’t prompt us to go.
I flew in for work on Thursday & was going to stay and work on MO on Friday...changed plans & headed home as fast as I could! the airports were a mess already with flight cancellations and all the Maxi9 issues, but others must have cancelled b/c I got seats on a previously sold out flight back home and I"m so glad I didn't get stuck in MO/AK yesterday.
My dogs are struggling today. It snowed about an inch last night. Now today our temps are in the negatives. Right now it's -10F with a wind-chill of -22F. So the dogs go outside and just refuse to move. I've had to go "rescue" them and bring them in. It's going to be a long day, and I bet we get some poop in the house.

I can’t even imagine, our dogs are a PITA going when it’s barely raining and I even have to rescue my Yorkie when it’s not raining but the ground is still wet.
Did I comment to H in October that my battery is old and even though it hasn’t had issues it probably would not like a cold snap this winter? Yes, yes I did. Did I actually buy a new battery and replace it when the weather was nice? No, no I did not.
Central Oregon - We're at -2 right now. So far today it has been about 7" of snow. We got about 18" earlier this week. So we are working with a big fluffy base. No moisture in the snow, but it warmed up a bit yesterday (to like 30, but it was sunny) so I am sure there is lots of ice under the snow everywhere.
Steadily coming down. Windy and blizzardy in some areas (and up at our mountain). Just cold.
We had the highest tide ever recorded here today, and damage all over the coast. This is the second super high tide and flooding incident this week, both accompanied by high winds and super heavy rain.
But last weekend we got a foot and a half of snow.
This is not typical for January in Maine, but here we are. We lost 100 year old fish shacks at a local beach and everyone is just sad. They washed away.
It's 14 now. Any wintery mix will start and finish in the next 26 hours. We replaced our heat pump last month so this is a really good stress test for it. Stay safe fellow texans!
Our metro got over 28 inches of snow in the last 6 days.
And this morning we had a windchill below -40.
It is supposed to be very cold here until next weekend.
We get a week(ish) like this most years, but this one hit after a very mild fall and holiday season. I mean, our grass was still green before the snow covered it.

We got around 4-5 inches, the most we've had in two years. And it was COLD.
DH was getting sleds down in the garage this morning and found water in them and leaky seams in the garage ceiling, which is right under the master bathroom. We have a plumber out to find the leak, and multiple walls are in the process of being torn up to figure out where the problem is. We moved stuff out of our bathroom linen closet which is beside the sink, and my half of our clothes closet, which is right behind the sink. UGH, and now they exposed the sink pipes they thought it was, and they're dry/no leaks. So further probing and cutting into walls is commencing.
Last year right around this time, our dishwasher leaked through into the ceiling of my basement office and that resulted in a couple months of repair/refinishing work. This is potentially a LOT more refinishing that could result. Like, possibly redoing our entire bathroom/tub/shower/sinks and shared bedroom closet. Which is a project that we hadn't even talked about a timeline for (it's all OG to the house, built in 2004, so it needs updating but until now has seemed to be in okay shape).
UGH. UGH. And in the meantime, pipes in the garage are more exposed to the cold until this is resolved and fixed, so that is also not at all worrying.

water in your house is SO FUCKING FRUSTRATING. Especially since it's not always coming from where you think it is so then it's a whole exercise just finding the damn thing. we had a roof leak coming out in our basement (two story house) because it was making it through the walls straight down, and we didnt' realize that's what was happening until it started also coming in our bathroom ceiling (i.e. upstairs) in a REALLY heavy rain. And then we fixed the roof, but it turned out it was ALSO coming in from the ground on the other side of the basement. (we thought the water had just flowed over there because our floors aren't fully level, but no!)
The good news is that last summer, we were able to move into a beautiful historic home in our dream town near the Oregon coast. The bad news is that our 124yo house has minimal to non-existent insulation and it's so insanely drafty that the furnace just can't hang in an ice storm. I think it topped out at 56 degrees on Saturday. Inside the house. LOL. At least now we know what we're dealing with and we can better prepare for the next below-freezing event.
