We're in the lull between storms but it has been a wild rollercoaster week in Boston. A foot of snow on Sunday, horrible icy/slushy conditions Monday, giant rainstorm Tues night (2-3" rain and high winds) which melted all the snow and now it is in the 40s. We're getting another big rainstorm Fri night but only 1-2" rain. I'm so glad these aren't snow or we'd be buried. It is supposed to get cold next week and I think we're getting snow Tuesday. Busy pattern!
A HUGE tree came down in my neighborhood and hit a house. It wasn't close to us, but we have a few similar trees near our house and now I'm kind of freaked out by them. If they hit our house they'd basically crush us in our bedroom.
We are just going to be bitterly cold. The temperature is steadily dropping and our low tomorrow will be -27C/-17F + windchill, so it will feel colder. Not expecting a ton of snow, but it’s coming down pretty good right now so we’ll see how much accumulates.
I am not excited for work today and tomorrow. My building is old and drafty and I usually sit near the windows.
We got 15 inches on Tuesday, another couple last night and projected to get 4-8 tomorrow. Then the artic blast comes. We normally miss big snows so this was discombobulating for us.
We live on an alley that rarely gets plowed. It normally isn't a big deal. We always just stamp it down and we have a 4 wheel vehicle. Our alley was a nightmare yesterday. This morning our neighbor came through with shovel thing on his pick up. I about kissed him lol! I need to go run to the store and get him a thank you gift card because he didn't need to go out of his way to clear us all out.
Sounds like more rain with wind here (Philadelphia). I'm not in a flood area, but lots of the neighborhoods around me got pretty wrecked on Tuesday so I think they might see more flooding.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

Holy cow, where are you??
British Columbia, Canada. But only ~2 hours from the Washington border so not super far north. We get cold like this at least once a year. Usually it lasts longer than a couple days, so far we’ve had an incredibly mild winter and this cold snap will resolve by midweek.

I think my area of IL is getting rain and snow mixed so not a ton of accumulation but arctic temps into next week with wind chills near -25. We got about 4” of snow from our system earlier this week (they say 8” fell but the rest melted).
high winds, snow, possible ice storm, and temperatures in the teens. Highly, highly unusual for Portland. I'm excited for the storm but worried about losing power as winds are possibly going to be up to 50mph tomorrow as the cold starts to funnel in from the east.
Im in New England and we got 11" of snow overnight Saturday to Sunday followed by several inches of rain Tuesday which caused road closures due to flooding because of rapid snow melt. Now we're expecting more wind and rain Friday into Saturday and then snow early next week. Talk about weather whiplash.

Uhhh nothing? I see rain (not a major amount) early Saturday in NYC, but only a 50% chance. Last storm it only snowed briefly and then all melted away a few hours later. I’ll watch the local forecast just to make sure I’m not missing anything.
I do know sometime next week it will be colder where my sister lives in MS than it will be here.
I hope everyone dealing with worse weather stays safe!

Ita been a crazy week for us weather wise and just today are getting alerts about this weekend's storm. A lot of people still don't have power from the storm Tuesday/Wednesday. Sounds like to will be winds and just a little bit of snow/rain for us, but north of us is projected a couple feet of snow!

Have you seen the timing for this? Or know how long the snow is supposed to last? I have family that is supposed to drive down to Cannon Beach from Seattle. Driving down on Friday late morning/early afternoon and back Monday. They will most likely get off I-5 in Olympia and go through Montesano, Raymond, Astoria. The snow and the winds across the gorge worry me.
How is the weather crazy across the entire country? (eta: to be clear, this is a rhetorical question)
We're looking at super high gusts and heavy rain overnight on Friday. Again. Just had the same on Tuesday with a lot of flooded roads and downed trees (and my flooded basement), but since everything is already saturated impacts are likely to be even worse than Tuesday.

8-12 inches in the western suburbs of Chicago, and then suuuuper cold next week.
I need it to hold off until tomorrow morning. I have an eye doctor appointment at 9:30 that I really need to get to. I have 4 pairs of daily contacts left.

wait, wait, I maaaaybe take mine back? I was going off what I saw yesterday but now it's looking way less crazy. woo!
Not much. It's supposed to snow tomorrow but we're predicted to get 1-3 inches.
If I recall you are in MN. . .the news isn't much on snow but they keep saying "It could shift and we could get more!" like this would be a good thing.
I think the meteorologists are bored here, it.s been an unusually quite winter.

Yeah. I don't think anyone really knows what's going to happen but given the winter we've had, I'm expecting to wake up Saturday morning to either a dusting or a foot. 😂

I would not count on that being possible. The snow is supposed to start late Friday afternoon or evening and continue all day Saturday and the Portland area isn't going to be above freezing until Tuesday or Wednesday. The gorge is going to have a possible blizzard and I would imagine I84 will be closed at some point, especially if there is ice. I believe there is even a chance of snow at the coast, including Astoria. That would be truly bonkers.
We had been expecting snow but they are pulling back on the snow predictions. Though it’s currently raining and trying to snow, so we’ll see what it really does. Though it’s supposed to be much colder than usual next few days. With the rain today and freezing temps overnight and then not getting above freezing at all for 3 days all I see is ice in the future. Hopefully it’s not as bad as it has been in the past. Also, hoping my furnace keeps up; it’s on my list to replace this year, but I’m hoping for summer/fall.

I want more than 3” of snow, I’m tired of it being brown. Im also pretty excited about the idea of actually getting enough snow to cross country ski at a place that doesn’t make their own snow.

I have somewhere I *have* to be at 8:30 Saturday am so I'm just hoping whatever it is, it's drivable for the 3 miles I have to go.

I hope it is! It looks like everything is going to end early Sat morning
