One more day of work. One more day of work. One more day of work. I have insanely put 5 clients right in a row. But it also means I can leave early and get my pedicure done (nails already a lovely shade of bright peachy orange - the brightest colour I've ever done). And finish packing. And go out for dinner. And then wake up the next morning, very early, to go away to sun and sand!!!!!
Easter party at the kid’s school today will be a disaster because the parent in charge did not plan enough things to occupy them the whole time. Plus their beloved teacher is not coming back after spring break. There will be tears. I’m counting the seconds to 11:30am when we are officially all on spring break. I can’t wait to get on the plane Sunday.
There has been this high-pitched screech that has intermittently on our house for days. It’s not loud, but it’s enough to drive a person mad. We’ve been trying to locate it and figure out what was making the noise, including:
Pulling out the refrigerator Turning the heat on and off and manipulating the fan Turning the AC on and off Laying with my ear in each floor vent for extended periods Hanging out in the utility room for extended periods Lurking outside examining meter/HVAC/generator/radon for extended periods Flushing toilets Manipulating water heater temp
This is just off the top of my head. It was none of these. We’ve had a rough ride of it with house stuff so we were expecting the worst. Last night H and the kids went to CVS so I sat in the room it was the loudest and read. By happenstance (I heard it coming from what I thought was a return vent) I saw out of the corner of my eye that it was the cheap ass Airwick battery operated diffuser! Once I googled I saw it is actually a thing. So, yay?

Yesterday was the last day for Freshman baseball tryouts at DS’s school and DS made the team!!! I’m so happy for him! He’s had a rough year and this will go far in helping his confidence. He was 1 of 4 kids trying out for the catcher position. I’ve been watching all these boys play for years and the competition was stiff. And DS only started last year in this position. He’s worked hard to get his skills up and I’m so dang proud of him.
I have about 64 things to do today and then we leave on our spring break road trip! We are doing one night in Springfield and three in St. Louis, and H and DS1 both have birthdays while we’re there. We’re doing the City Museum for DS, but it’s going to be packed over spring break, so I really hope it’s still fun! How is my baby going to be NINE?! The pandemic hit as he was turning 5, and it feels more like he should be turning 7. Time is going too fast!
Leaving for spring break tonight! It’s the first time my kids are flying and the first time they will need to Uber so I need to finagle a bubble Bam and a Ridesafer vest for the first time.
These are the things that keep me up at night. We did practice at home. LOL

Currently I’m fully dressed and ready for work, but have to dilly dally around for another half hour to wait to tell STBX after DD gets on the bus. With all my nervous energy I’ve been up since 4am and was apparently too efficient in being prepared to leave for work immediately after.
I'm excited for everyone who's about to go on vacation. We just went away in February, and the memories are so distant already!
Yesterday, I realized I've been paying for Amazon Music and Prime, but Prime is supposed to include Amazon Music, so I guess I accidentally signed up for Music when we got DD1 an Echo for Christmas. I feel like their system should have prevented this, but whatever. I canceled the Amazon Music, but does this mean we'll be back to limited skips and no specific song requests after this billing cycle, or is the Amazon Music included with Prime exactly the same as when you purchase it on its own? And if it's truly the same, I'm back to wondering why they let someone who already has Prime sign up for Music. Please explain.

Congrats to your DS, snapoutofit! That's really awesome! I am hoping to say the same thing of my DS next year when he tries out for freshman baseball. He just started catching last season and loves it (and the feedback we've gotten from the coach he takes lessons from is really positive), so I'm hoping he will get one of the catcher positions when he tries out next year. Competition is also stiff at our school.
Hoping everything goes as well as possible, starburst604.
Finally Friday! On the third day of Spring here in MI, we are supposed to get 4-7" of snow today (where I am located in MI). So that's fun.
The meeting I was anxious about yesterday afternoon ended up going well, so that was a good end to the day. Hoping today is quiet so I can focus on getting done what needs to get done. We are leaving for spring break next Thursday after work, and I feel like there is so much to get done work-wise before then. (Not to mention packing and last-minute shopping.)
We’re also on spring break next week. Staying local and going up to our ski hill. I asked DH last night if we could wait to go up until Saturday afternoon. He said yes but I think he wanted to get up there earlier. I just feel like we have shit to get done and none of that has been factored in.
I was really looking forward to this trip, but now I’m just feeling sad about missing the puppy. She’s such a good, sweet girl and I’m going to miss her. I know she’ll be in good hands with his mom, who is so excited to have her, but I’m worried she’ll feel like we’re abandoning her. At least I’ll get to sleep in. I am looking forward to that.
I’m kind of regretting booking my class/hotel this weekend. I had thought it would be a fun spring activity at a cute rural history museum during a time when not much is going on.
However, my FIL is suddenly not doing very well after being told he was improving and headed to rehab and my MIL is not being clear about what is going on so we are monitoring that situation. The weather is going to be very cold and rainy and I’ve had the worst cramps of my life and a migraine the last couple days. I don’t have cold weather rain gear like what they are telling us to wear to get around the grounds and we have to bring lunch and equipment with us. It sounds like a mess.
Hopefully the class will be fun/informative? It’s not even something I’m super passionate about, it was a good price and I have the right kind of loom for it so I signed up.

We leave for spring break on Sunday. I really need to get away for a bit. This month has fully rocked my world.
My brother passed a week ago, after a very long battle with addiction and 2 months in the hospital. None of us knew it was as bad as it was, including his partner. I’m also still dealing with long covid symptoms and have never felt so disoriented. I’m dizzy a lot, my heart pounds and I’m anxious. Sleep is tough. It’s not just Covid, but everything else going on too.
How is it already spring break and Easter? I'm not ready for DS's birthday party tomorrow morning (need to bake his cake, get plates/napkins/cups, drinks), only have a half-assed plan for the pre-k Sunday school class I'm leading this weekend, haven't even thought about packing for the short spring break trip/college visit we're doing M-W and JUST requested a boarding slot for the dog for that, and have nothing for Easter baskets and have done zero planning for the Easter lunch we're hosting with my parents and a few friends/their parents.

Keep your fingers crossed for me. ExH is supposed to sign the paperwork this morning so that I can close on my Refi this afternoon. If all goes well I will officially be done with him forever. And then can finally stop talking about it LOL

Ha, we almost picked this same itinerary for spring break! We're going the other direction (up to Milwaukee) instead.
Every year I forget that Spring Break is a thing. We didn't have one when I was in elementary or high school, and we only got 3 days off in college and I didn't have money to travel so I just stayed on campus. I've worked in higher ed for many years but staff don't get off for Spring Break so...just another week. womp womp

My conference yesterday ran out of lunch. There were a few pieces of lettuce left in a bowl when I got through the line. So I left, took myself out to lunch of course, got a pedi, then took a nap. Last year they were running out of things when I got through the lunch line, but there was still food. Guess I'll be crossing this conference off my list. You have to pre-register, so they know exactly how many to expect.
FI is having a really hard time at work, he's been thrown to the wolves with this job promotion. He's 4 hours away, out on a boat, and there's just not much I can do to help and support him except listen.

Pilsy a few years ago we discovered we had a second Amazon Prime account. No idea how it happened, but I contacted them and they were able to see we'd never used the other account and they refunded all the money back to us. You might try that.

We pay for Prime and Amazon Music separately as well and have for years. This is something I need to investigate. I have a feeling the Music subscription included with prime isn't commercial free and probably doesn't allow personal play lists, but I'm not sure 🤔
Sending hugs and good vibes to all those who need them!!
DD's bestie's bday party is scheduled tomorrow at an outdoor venue, but its going to snow/sleet/rain all day. The mom told me earlier in the week they might move it to Sunday or just do an indoor thing instead but no update yet. I texted her this morning and crickets. OMG, I want to plan my weekend - give us an update!!
The misic included with Amazon Prime is basic, random, no downloads, etc. It is a big reason why I canceled my Prime subscription. You do have to subscribe to both now for full functionality.
