I'm excited for everyone who's about to go on vacation. We just went away in February, and the memories are so distant already!
Yesterday, I realized I've been paying for Amazon Music and Prime, but Prime is supposed to include Amazon Music, so I guess I accidentally signed up for Music when we got DD1 an Echo for Christmas. I feel like their system should have prevented this, but whatever. I canceled the Amazon Music, but does this mean we'll be back to limited skips and no specific song requests after this billing cycle, or is the Amazon Music included with Prime exactly the same as when you purchase it on its own? And if it's truly the same, I'm back to wondering why they let someone who already has Prime sign up for Music. Please explain.
We pay for Prime and Amazon Music separately as well and have for years. This is something I need to investigate. I have a feeling the Music subscription included with prime isn't commercial free and probably doesn't allow personal play lists, but I'm not sure 🤔
We do too, I feel like there is a reason but it's been so long that I don't remember why. There are probably so many random things that I'm subscribed for that I should cancel but just thinking about it sounds so daunting that I mentally shut down and don't do anything about it.
Hugs to everyone that is struggling/doing hard things!!
Sending hugs and good vibes to all those who need them!!
DD's bestie's bday party is scheduled tomorrow at an outdoor venue, but its going to snow/sleet/rain all day. The mom told me earlier in the week they might move it to Sunday or just do an indoor thing instead but no update yet. I texted her this morning and crickets. OMG, I want to plan my weekend - give us an update!!
Wow I can't believe they risked an outdoor party at this time of year! DD1s birthday party is this weekend too. I've only done one outdoor party for her and I did it early April hoping for OK weather, and it was still too cold to be really enjoyable. I'd be so annoyed too, I don't like having plans up in the air like that.
I'm WFH today which means I'm probably going to mostly be doing party prep. Do you think parents are going to judge me for serving the kids uncrustables (plus snacks etc)? It's a 5yo party. I have meatball subs for the adults (and kids if they really want them).
My baby boy is 24 today! ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ All he wants to do today is FaceTime with his dad and me; he is going to karaoke with his friends tonight. We will get breakfast together this weekend. Having a truly grown up kid is a trip!

Prime used to include music, but they changed it maybe a year or so ago so you can still listen to music without the paid subscription, but you can’t choose songs or make play lists anymore. It’s so annoying!! What am I paying for prime for then if I can’t listen to the music I want. Prime video also has short commercials now unless you pay 2.99/mo. Talk about nickel and diming people!

You are correct - the Amazon music that comes with Prime doesn't allow play lists and there are some songs that aren't available.
I have about 64 things to do today and then we leave on our spring break road trip! We are doing one night in Springfield and three in St. Louis, and H and DS1 both have birthdays while we’re there. We’re doing the City Museum for DS, but it’s going to be packed over spring break, so I really hope it’s still fun! How is my baby going to be NINE?! The pandemic hit as he was turning 5, and it feels more like he should be turning 7. Time is going too fast!
We love St. Louis! The City Museum is so much fun. I’d drive the 5 hours just to eat Sugar Fire again.

It's a gamble for sure, but they play outside year-round at school so most of the kids are fine with a cold-weather playground party. We're in a city so apartments aren't really conducive at-home parties and at this age (5) it seems like most people try to be inclusive of the whole class. I finally heard back, they're keeping it outside and but moving it to Sunday (when it will be in the 30s, ha).

It’s my baby boys 13th today! 😠we have this tradition of putting balloons on his chair every year with the number…I’m guessing when he’s 24 he won’t want me sneaking into his place with them in the middle of the night ðŸ˜
I have an audiologist appt today, my Drs office is requiring a follow-up appt with an ENT which will be over an hour away because their other locations are booked up. I am so tired of my Drs office, they find every way possible to rack up fees.
I'm also stupidly anxious about the appointment because I WFH and have lost all of my being in public alone skills lol, I will probably leave an hour early to avoid any chance of being late.
We are in for a big rainy storm this weekend, we just got the yard cleaned up and we can't even use it yet. Stupid NE weather.
ETA: Here with the update no one asked for. The audiologist said she was "surprised I made it this far without hearing aids" Yay for lip reading!
Good news is she can do the paperwork, I don't need to go to the ENT for it.
No spring break travel for us, but I’m looking forward to the kids being home. As long as they aren’t battling, it’s less hectic. I have them scheduled for fun stuff each day. My BIL invited himself to visit, so he and DH are partially on kid duty.
My 8th grade DD had a boy ask her to hang out over spring break. He seems very nice and I’m excited for her.
sadie we did a day trip to Milwaukee a few weeks ago. The Sprechers brewery was a hit, as was the 3rd Street Food Hall

There is an unlimited Music which is different that what is included with Prime. Without paying for the Unlimited Music subscription, If you want playlists with specific songs, you need to purchase every song you want. Otherwise they will play random songs mixed into your playlist. The Unlimited version allows you to play any song you want at any time. There are also some other weird things they do with just the prime version.

Sprecher's is on the list. We also plan to visit the Milwaukee Public Museum, the Domes, Bobblehead Museum.
I'm really questioning why I'm still paying for Prime. Amazon has pissed me off this week by promising delivery at the time of order for tomorrow, but the tracking shows it won't arrive until Wednesday - a full week after I ordered. I really could have used it this weekend.

I am interested in this as I have also been paying for Amazon Music while having a Prime account...If I could save that money each month that would be awesome.
ETA: Read the updates from other pps. Guess I am sticking with my paid subscription. lol

Hugs to all that need them.
TGIF indeed. This morning started off rough including DH getting a tow home. Praying my car is fixed today so we have one working car.
@@@ Hoping to go to our great nieces b-day party tomorrow and figure out another day to see my brother. Issue is now we're getting a lot of rain...again. We'll probably get a little snow, and the party area is actually getting more rain than us. I don't want to be dramatic but after all of the floods in my area the last 6 - 8 months I truly worry about driving when there are flood concerns...but I don't want to miss the party.

A true random...I've never watched Grey's Anatomy, ever. I had that channel on last night in between chores. I come down stairs and everyone, literally 3 or 4 different couples, were doing it. Like full on Melrose Place fancy bras and lots of passion. I was like "WTF is this?"...and then I see it's Grey's. I was going to continue watching to see what the hype is, but the medical stuff is too hard right now.

I'm so annoyed the that in order to play music on my Garmin watch I need either a paid Spotify or Amazon music subscription. I used to have Pandora, which I thought was cheaper and better.

Living in the same small town that I grew up in is a trip. DD's new softball coach is the guy who was my BFF's first kiss in 1999, and my nephew's best friend is my 6th grade "boyfriend"'s daughter.
H and I have basically agreed to handle each other's parents. He can't stand being with his mother, but she really doesn't bother me (she has her quirks, but I really do love her and admire her). So I handle her as much as possible. In return, he deals with my parents because I can barely be in the same room as them. But he gets along with them fine.
This is by far the best arrangement of my marriage.
Truly random: does anyone know if Kohl's still offers a grace period on using Kohl's cash? I have $30 that expired on Sunday. I thought they used to honor it for at least another week? Anyone know if that's still the case?
I am in the process of booking our 2024 summer vacation! As I hardly took any leave last year, we are going to Europe for 6 weeks (and yes we get better vacation leave her than in the US). Flying over the Atlantic is so expensive, takes so long and also is so bad for the environment that I rather do long trips every few years than short ones more frequently.
We are doing a week in Portugal, a week in Netherlands (where my brother now lives), a couple of days in Belgium (as we have to change trains there to get to the Netherlands so why not), a week with my best friend in the south-east, a couple of days in York, and 2 weeks with my parents about 2.5 hours north of London. I am very excited!
We have spring break in a few weeks. DS just turned 15 and is signed up for a lifeguard course that runs 4 days of break from 9am-4pm. He's a little bummed it's cutting down his fun time but I'm so excited for him to have a job.
And he will be an awesome lifeguard! Plus out of the house and making $$
I'm happy so many folks have trips and fun things planned for Spring Break! Kid is on Spring Break but we don't have a ton planned. We did just go on vacation in Feb when kid was on Intersession - I love that we can travel this time of year but it's not quite as crazy as Spring Break. I took Mon & Tues off so we'll do little things around locally and kid has her physical on Monday but looking forward to a low key week. Things will really pick up after break with volleyball starting back up and dance recital weekend approaching so this will help us get ready.
We got snow as predicted this morning and the roads were crappy. Kids got a snow day today which we sort of anticipated because it's the last day before break and they still have snow days left so why not. LOL my kid was only at school one day this week because she was sick at the beginning of the week. But that one day really did take it out of her after being sick because she went to bed at like 6pm last night which is super rare for her.
I hate clothes shopping but I also really want to go shopping because I hate all of my clothes at the moment. Everything is either really old, worn out, out of style or just uncomfortable. I mean financially totally replacing everything isn't in the cards but I'd like to find some new stuff but also I hate shopping LOL

It’s my week with my Gram and we’re having a lovely time together! She’s a food hoarder and my mom and uncles have given me permission to quietly cull her cabinets and pantry.
This trip I’ve quietly discarded expired:
2 boxes of hot cocoa / leaving 2 boxes
2 boxes of microwave kettle corn / leaving 2 boxes
12 various cans / 8 expired in 2019 & 4 from 2020-2022

I want to do this in my MIL's medicine cabinets. She has a lot of toiletries and medicines that expired in a pre- 9/11 world. It drives me insane since they redid their bathrooms in the mid-2000s!
Although I typical spend some time giggling about this with me MIL's BIL. He is the extended family member that keeps me sane.
